So when you actually have it as opposed to just before it being due to arrive?
    Just to confirm...
Are you ment to tell the consultant wen it is your star week? I never have.

Hey :) The weight gain is caused by fluid retention as a natural part of the menstrual cycle. Fluid retention starts before your period starts - the headaches and backaches can be caused by fluid retention in the skull and inbetween the vertebrae. You usually lose the extra fluid in the first few days of your period. We don't quite know why we retain fluid in the run up - it might have something to do with progesterone being broken down which triggers the kidneys to retain water and salt. It might not - but it is natural.

Tips for reducing fluid retention are: limit salt intake, keep up the calcium (Muller Lights all the way!), keep your blood sugar levels constant by eating little and often, drink lots of fluid (counter-intuitive but true!) and keep up the vegetable and fruit intake.

    Hope that helps. xx

    Hi guys

I've had a good day - got into my first EVER size 10 skirt today:eek: I was so happy I thought I was going to start crying - in the middle of Next.... But it would have been worth it. :p

I posted about a chocolate wheats cake I made last week - I made it again and made some improvements so thought I'd share as I had a huuuuuuuuuuuuge PMT chocolate craving yesterday and this quenched it royally. It's really gooey - somewhere between a brownie and chocolate bread and butter pudding.

    Kellogs Chocolate Wheats Cake

5.5 syns +1 HEb or 10.5 syns in total

28g Kellogs Chocolate Wheats (1HEb) - only found in Co-op!
1 heaped tbsp cocoa powder (2.5 syns)
enough hot milk to cover the wheats (from my HEa allowance)
    3 tbsp Splenda granulated
1 and a half tbsp honey (3 syns)
    3 eggs

    1. Microwave the wheats with the cocoa and milk for appx 30 seconds and mash them to break them down. Leave them to cool completely.
    2. Seperate the eggs. Mix the yolks with the sweetener and honey and added it to the wheats.
    3. Whisk the egg whites into stiff peaks and folded very gently into the wheats (pretend you're making a souffle).
    4. Pour the mixture into a loaf tin that's been fry-lighted and bake for 25-30 mins at a maximum of 180.
    5. Cut into slices. Serve either warm with a sauce (banana custard ML, or aerosol cream?), or chill in the fridge and eat cold.

  • How do all,
I wasnt going to join this before because I had chickened out, but then I went upstairs and my boiler has broken or something so I felt like a wanted a fag or some chocolate... decided it was better to join the forum eh!

I've been following slimming world for a month (Ive lost 6lb in total - havent weighed myself this week yet though so hopefully more).

Im not going the classes or joining online because I really cant afford it, however I've been on slimming world about 8 years ago and managed to get to my goal weight, BUT I then went to uni and started drinking larger, chain smoking and eating takeaways and the weight crept on.

I quit the fags in July 08, my drinking now only involves occasional red wine (because its so nice!) and clear spirits with diet soft drinks. I'm following extra easy - I cook all homemade foods so its easy enough to not let the sins come in through processed things, and I have cut the crisps and chocolate and takeaways out completely. what I'm doing is presuming my sins are in my food somewhere, but the thing is without going to the groups and that I have no idea if Im sticking to it correctly or not... So I was wondering, if all you fellow slimmers could help me... I'll post up my daily foods that im going to eat and if you notice things are syns that I think are free etc could you let me know?

Thanks in Advance, apologies for this being so longwinded, but I'm determined now, my sister is getting married in August and I would like her to be proud of me on her wedding day.

    I am 5'2, bmi 29, weight 12.3, roughly size 18
I want to be by august bmi 22, weight 10ish to 101/2... anyone think thats doable?

Last night I made homemade gnocchi with homemade tom sauce however I have no idea what syn value flour is and I ate loads of it! :S will weigh in later and see.

  • I have a question about the Sainsburys BGTY egg mayo - it is free but would it count as superfree food, cos plain eggs are?

It's entirely up to you whether you share this info with your Consultant, but if you feel bloated the week before your period is due it will probably show on the scales as a gain (some women feel worse the week it arrives).

If there's no other explanation (ie. you've followed the plan properly) it will be marked on your record sheet so that when the C is checking on members who may need extra help, she won't be bugging you about your gain.

So to answer your question (after my long-winded waffle) you may want her to know that * week is probably the cause of any gain. If you think it's a personal thing and don't want her to know, that's fine too.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I don't think anything processed can be counted as super-free, though it's not something I have ever checked on.

Even though it's made with eggs, as has been pointed out, there is mayo in there somewhere......to be honest, I'm amazed it's free at all!!

  • I am very excited :D:D. I have just placed an order of Joe's Sausages.

    ... better be nice :rotfl:

One thing that interests me, is that on the syns online, it says that (IIRC) 2tbsp are syn free. Sometimes, when you put in a larger quantity (eg 100g through the syns calculator) it has syns.... ie a small amount has neg calories, but a larger amount would have to be synned.

Does anyone have a pot (with the NI) that they could check this out please?
