Does anyone know how many syns would be in battered cod and chips? I spent the day on the beach and the smell wafting from the cafes was too much to ignore!

I've managed to lose 3lb this week but I'm a good 3 stone overweight and was upset this morning to find most of my summery clothes are too tight.

I'm back on track as of tomorrow, wish me luck guys! :)

    Hi everyone

Can anyone give any advice on what books to buy at the meeting, or if any of them are any good? My friend says she can't manage without the food directory, and I was considering the 'free branded foods' and 'low sin snacks' too. Am I right in thinking that the last 2 are just excepts from the food directory in a handbag size? I'm a bit confused and my consultant didn't have any in stock (she just orders them if someone wants one).

IMO the best book is the Delicious Food Optimising Days (think this may be the one wannabedebtfree means). It's a small format book giving you lots of ideas about how to put a full days menu together. This one sells at £2.95 at the mo I think.

After that, the best ones are the "100" books. 100 Comfort Foods, 100 Delicious Desserts, 100 Free Original Recipes and 100 Green Recipes. These all retail at £2.95 and will give you loads of fab recipes to keep you going for ages.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

It depends whether you're doing an Original day or a Green. On an Original chip shop chips come in at 27 syns on Original and 17½ on Green for an average 227gm serving. The fish would be free on Original if you removed the batter.

Best to look on it as done and start again tomorrow :)

Hey guys, just after a bit of help. My boyfriend is doing SW with me but is finding it harder, he's not going to the groups though. I think I might not be making the meals exciting enough.... What I really need is some syn free snack ideas, not fruit or veg because we have alot of that already, something easy. We're trying to do extra-easy days so anything goes really. I was thinking of something along the lines of rice cakes (no idea of syn value though so am about to look it up!) something thats convenient and I can have in the kitchen ready for when hunger strikes!

Thanks in advance for any help xx

Unfortunately rice cakes are around 1.5 syns each. The treatsize milky way bars are 3.5, mars funsize are 4.5 and a Mr Kipling french fancy is 5.5. These are my fav low syn snacks at the mo. A free snack would be something like a mullerlight, although i'm not a big fan of these to be honest. The sweetener in them can leave a funny aftertaste. How about using your healthy extra up on some ryvita and dairylea?

Don't know if this is any help as we only do green days so I'm not sure how it fits in with extra easy, but we keep a few tins of potatoes in the cupboard and then if hunger strikes we make potato salad with light mayonnaise (think helmanns extra light is a syn per tbsp) or a slimming world quiche with the potatoes sliced at the bottom.
Or there's the pudding rice mixed with mullerlight recipe that's on this thread - going to try that one this week. That's free on a green day.
Also I know you said no fruit or veg but have you tried frozen banana? I liked them but OH didn't. You just pop the banana in the freezer - think wrapped in foil but I can't remember. I haven't had them for a few years. Also muller lights in the freezer for a couple of hours are nice.
Or Alpen light bars are only 3 syns.
Sorry for rambling - it's early and I was just trying to think what we have as snacks!

I shouldnt have worried as this morning I was shocked to find I've lost another lb over night! must have been all the walking on the beach yesterday!

I lost 4lb last week which is the most I've ever managed so fingers crossed this is the start of something good :)

Anyone spotted cheap Mullers this week other than the 4 for £2 offer which isn't what I would call an offer.

    Thanks

You could get 6 pack for £2 at Tesco last friday, not sure when offer finishes though
