Ive looked in the slimming world book and it says that a slim fast is 12 syns - but even though its 12 syns would this help speed up weight loss? Any information would be great. I joined slimming world a while ago and found it ok, but now i havnt been to class for a while and im struggling

I havent been to any of the classes yet - waiting til payday!!! I don’t know if it would help with the weight loss and it’s a lot of syns to waste on one little thing - what is it you are struggling at? Is it recipes or just motivation?

If its recipes I have found this site: http://www.slimmingworld-recipes.blogspot.com/ and they have loads of different and tasty sounding dishes

Never mind the speed - as long as it's the right direction! Congrats pariskate! :j

    Well done Cuffey, great loss.

WI here for me too - ^lost just under 0.5 kilo and got my 3kg award which ^guess is the same a s the 1/2 lb award. So I am getting there, albeit slowly.

Need to plan more in advance, but isn't that always the problem!!

Help .....went to lunch @ Harvester

Tried to be good ......honest, I even ignored the sauces at the salad bar (a first for me), stuck to free salad bits and a wholemeal roll (hexb)

No starter or dessert but the main course was,
    Barbecue Chicken & Bacon
Flame-grilled sweetcured bacon steak and Emmental cheese served between chicken breasts, with Hickory smoked barbecue sauce. Served with hot buttered baby potatoes and garden peas.
Their site gives the following nutritional info for the dish but doesn't mention overall weight. How can I calculate/syn what it all came to and perhaps what options to choose from their menu, in future.
The total for the chicken dish was apparently
    Energy (kcal) 663 Protein (g) 85.7 Carbohydrate (g) 41.3 Sugar (g) 19.3 Fat (g) 17.4 Saturated fat (g) 7.2 Salt (g) 4.3

I'm hopeless at calculating what food weighs, so can't even guess.

Grateful for any help as usual :D

PS, it was worth it, whatever :T
  • woohoo another 3lbs off for me this week! must move house more often LOL tho I suspect its also due to an extra 10min each way on the school run up a big hill! I really struggled for most of last week and only got 100% on track over the weekend - so was amazed!

that makes a total of 1st 13.5 lbs off - so should get my 2 stone award next week :D

I got my motivation back by listening to my Paul McKenna cd :o (the one that comes with the "i can make you thin" book that I bought ages ago) Also have finally realised I've dropped 2 dress sizes so ditched the baggy belted up size 24s (that were skin tight before I started SW) for size 20s :j which has improved my mood no end as I've been size24 (or bigger :o )for years.

My next goals are 13.5st and to get into size 18s (which I've not worn for 10 years) - I'm aiming for my birthday at the end of August as a target to have lost the next 2 stone which should be doable if I can lose 2lbs a week - so back on track 100% now

My main goal is to get under 11 stone (ideally as close to 10 as I can get!) so Im looking at about 1 ½ - 2 to lose! I would love to be back in the size 10/12 clothes that I have had for god knows how long but never worn them as I kept thinking ‘I’ll shift a couple of pounds and they will fit no problem’ - ha! If anything I have hidden them away as its depressing to look at clothes I cant fit into so out of sight out of mind!! Not anymore though – I will have a dress hung on my wardrobe to help spur me on when I feel like jumping off the wagon!!!!
  • good idea newcook - I think I'll hang a pair of smaller jeans on my wardrobe to help keep me motivated too

Hello all, can anyone help please? I have a few questions.

The minced beef we use is a lean 12% fat one.
Is there one that is lower?
Is this one acceptable for the very lean mince on a red day?

    Thank you!

    @ Owlet.
Yes there is an extra lean mince that has just 5% Fat. In Sainsburys its Be Good to Yourself range. Other stores just have the "Extra Lean Mince" Its normally a little more expensive though.

Re the Slimfast. Yes, you can work them in via syns, but to be honest, its a waste of syns. They just dont fill you up.

The problem with meal replacement drinks, is that although they help you lose weight if you stick to them (But oh how boring! No proper food!!), most people dont actually lose the unhealthy eating habits that got them into the mess in the first place. They stop the drinks/shakes whatever and get back into big frys and takeaways and whatever else they did before and before they know it, its all back on.

So you could have a slimfast meal replacement, then be starving about an hour later and have used up 12 syns.
Or you could have a massive plate of pasta with a low syn sauce on a Green day. Or add meat and plenty of veg/salad for an easy Extra day.
I know what I would prefer.....

Slimming world is about changing the poor habits, having a balanced diet, enjoying your meals and NEVER going hungry.

All of this is just my own opinion by the way.

  • I was really cheesed off last night, I put on a pound and I truly didn't deserve it, I was so upset that when it was my turn to talk I actually cried!!

I am having my 3rd period since the 13th of April, and my implanon is being changed tomorrow, I m just worried sick that if my weight loss has plateau'd with 4 stone still to go then having the implanon tomorrow will make things worse, I've lost over 3 stone and really don't want it to start creeping back on, I might just look into sterilisation, I pumped Depo-Provera into my body for 6 years, and have had the implanon for 6 years, all these artificial hormones can't be good.........if I don't show a loss next week I am going to start removing limbs......
I believe that I have the strength to make my dreams come true

Thanks Consultant 31. I was actually wondering how long I'd be allowed before I had to be back in target. I'm not planning on breaking the 2st mark while I'm pregnant, and know I have to go back between 6 and 10 weeks after the baby arrives, but is there a set amount of time for me to get back in target or will I have to pay until I'm there?

    Thanks for any advice.
