I have a question about SW, whne I went to class the emphasis seemed to be more on syns value of pre-prepared ready meals or tinned/packaged goods. Whilst I can see they're useful for a quick & easy, don't need to calculate how many syns meal; it doesn't fit the way we eat since I make everything from scratch & would really prefer to eat fresh food all the time. I'd like to be able to adapt my own recipes f poss. I'm hoping I can join you guys & motivate myself at home, since I have all the books & do still use recipes from my SW days even now - especially a lentil dhal ! Curry night tonight folks, did you guess???
SW actively promote cooking from scratch so I think your Consultant was probably not quite up-to-date with her training.
It's very easy to adapt your own recipes if you have the Food Directory (around £7 from group). If you have an old one it should still be ok for basic food values (they haven't changes much).
Keep up the good work, eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg (mostly superfree foods) and you'll be slim again in no timeI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Hmm, yes, my daughter is a Dolly Parton type with a 30JJ bra size  She has recently lost over 4 stone to get to her target. Her back measurement went down 4" but she's been left with these - as a booby prize perhaps :rotfl::rotfl:
This is a good sports bra acording to a friend of mine though quite expensive....

@consultant31. Ok, that makes sense.
I thought I'd try it out today. But I kind of feel slightly hungry. I certainly have had about a bucket of superfree foods!
I had 28g shredded wheat bite sized for breakfast with a chopped banana and semi skimmed milk, followed by a bowl of blackberries. (HE A &
Mango pre and pro-biotic yogurt drink 100mls (3 syns)
Mid morning snack was small bowl of "marions rice" with a pear and vanilla muller light
Lunch was noodles and an enormous bowl of stir fried veg with some quorn pieces and 113g of chicken with a sainsburys black bean sauce half portion (4.5 syns)
(I was originally doing green) And I was conscious of having plenty of veg in comparison to the noodles.
Dinner was a medium Jacket spud, roasted chicken breast (single, sprayed with fry light, sage on top) green beans, mange tous and mushrooms.
I have done red days since Tuesday and in fact, when I did the plan before I did mainly red and perhaps one green day a week. I always felt stuffed.
Now it is about an hour after dinner and already I am thinking of what else I can eat. Plenty of superfree foods I can have, I know, but I havent felt like snacking all week.
Maybe its all in my head!Gosh, I'm not surprised you didn't go back to that group. To be honest, you perhaps would have done SW a favour if you'd rung head office and complained about the Consultant's attitude
On reflection maybe I should have, but I think I would have sounded like a five yr old. "They dont like me"
I just think they were a "closed group" of people who had been there a long time, and all knew each other really well. And I wasn't confident enough to hang around and break into it...Light Bulb Moment: Feb 2007

I joined sw last week after being overweight for 4 years.
I have been trying to stick to the plan but time will tell, my weigh in is on wednesday. I've got a lot of weight to lose so i may be here some time x0 -
Hi Shelley,
you are in good company!
According to the website, if I stick to the plan and lose an average of 2lbs per week, Ill be at target by Jan 2010.
If I lose an average of 1lb per week (much more likely) it will be Sept 2010.
So I expect to be here for the long haul too.Light Bulb Moment: Feb 2007

Juat one word of warning though. The strawberry flavoured shape and danone activia yoghurts are not veggie friendly as they have cochineal colouring.redmel1621 wrote: »Hi Lauren - Welcome
If it is plain/natural yoghurt you are specifically after then most supermarkets have their own brand plain Yoghurt and plain Fromage frais...as long as it says fat free/very low fat then it will be free.
In terms of flavoured yoghurts, yes Mullerlights are free....but so are Danone shape (the fuller for longer ones) and I have just checked mine in the fridge and they say suitable for vegetarians on the side:D

ETA: My friend is vegetarian and has lost over 6st on SW, sticking with Green days (obviously:)) Good Luck.0 -
Just wondering how overweight you have to be? I have to say I probably am in this category but I just want to check before making an appointment with my doctor! I haven't been a member for quite some time but am planning to start back on Tuesday, so therefore would need an appointment on Monday with my doctor! Thanks for any information
Also, after looking for more information it seems it isn't currently in all areas, is there any way of finding out if it's in mine?
I rang our local PCT to see if it was available in our area - we live in Dudley and it's available here. You have to have a BMI of over 30 (I think that's what the nurse said - we were both well over that lol!). We didn't see the doctor, we had to see the nurse and she just filled in a form and weighed us. It's going to save us a fortune so that's why I posted on here. I'm sure if you ring your doctors they'll be able to tell you if they do it or not. Each surgery has a nominated person in charge of it. Hope that helps - sorry if it's a little vague but we went a couple of weeks ago.0 -
Can someone PM me the password please.
Thank You0 -
When I was in group, my consultant would always text me the password if I asked her.
If you dont get it, I can look up syns online if you need me to.Light Bulb Moment: Feb 2007
