I hear what you're saying but maybe some people won't know when to stop. I could have called time at 3.5stone loss because I felt so much healthier than when I started but I've kept going because it wasn't a 'healthy' weight, and I'm glad I did because I feel even better now, so how do you know when it's enough. The charts give such a wide range. I'm probably fussing about nothing but I'd be interested to hear consultant31s point of view.

I posted this on another forum, but maybe this will explain how I feel about target:

I struggled with exactly this question for almost my entire weight loss. I imagined that I wanted to be somewhere between 10 and 10 1/2 stone, a size 12, with a BMI of about 22.5 - but had no real idea if that would be achievable or realistic for me. So, in my head, my target was 10st 4lb, to allow me to be 10st1-10st7 target range.

But I remember being about 10st 11 for weeks and weeks and weeks - it was clear that my weight was staying the same, but my body was changing. I was now comfortably in size 12 jeans, and was getting irritated that I couldn't seem to get past the 10st11 barrier. I tried everything - I was being 100% already, but I used SE and EE - any plan to get it shifted.

What was becoming clear though was whilst I didn't know when to call target, I knew I wasn't there yet, and I had to keep at it for a bit longer...

Then, one morning a few weeks later, I woke up and caught myself in the mirror and liked what I saw. I was the shape and size I wanted to be. My decision was made, I would do 100% for the next couple of days and call target regardless of what weight I was.

I told the weigh in girl I was calling target before I stepped on the scales (which she thought was rather odd), and it showed me at 10st 9, a loss of 1st 13.5lb. My Consultant has never understood why I called target that night (nor it must be said has she ever asked), but always jokes that it was a really odd weight to call target on (surely another 1/2lb would have been neater!)

So how did I know what was right for me? - For the first time in my adult life I was 100% happy with what I saw. The numbers stopped mattering, and that made my decision for me.

Thank you so much for this Angie, I can totally relate to the first part of your post and I'm hoping that I'll also get that 'lightbulb' moment when I just know the times right. I'm 5lbs away from my 'magic number' and I'm hoping that will coincide with the 'lightbulb' moment! :D but what if it doesn't

    hello everyone,

Lo-Bush, I haven't really set a target but I have a pair of trousers that I want to fit into - kind of my size guide, rather than weight guide. they happen to be a Gap size 12 but I know that sizing varies form store to store.
Angie, I think that whole 'liking what you see' is really important because it's for ourselves that we want to lose weight. Already I like myself in the mirror more an I haven't even lost too much weight.

Had a bad weekend, picked at stuff, bit too much chocolate and junk. But today I am back on track and did some exercise.

Funny about wearing lighter clothes for WI - I weigh first thing tuesday mornings, naked, on my own scales so unless I can unzip my skin I can't magic any more off!

Muller Lights were 20p in my Asda this morning, along with the Asda own version.

Are the Asda own ones free?

I've had a good week on SW this week - although other aspects of life have been a bit rubbish (death in the family). Tough day on Friday, but managed to convince myself that stuffing my face with 4 bars of chocoalte wasn't going to make any difference to the situation (in fact would make me feel worse).

    Weigh in not till Wednesday . . . so here's hoping . . . . .

Well done to all those who've lost or STS.

So sorry about your loved one x
