I have tried these pills, not while doing SW but a SW type of eating & I would tell anyone not to do it! I only ended taking them for about a week & found the side effects so horrific I stopped taking them!
They stop vital vitamins being absorbed by your body which can make you unwell, not exactly what SW is about!

Were you eating too large amounts of fat with your meals? I've heard about the side effects but apparently that shouldn't happen if you stick to a low fat intake?

They do advise you to keep taking vitamin supplements and AKAIK there is a recommended eating plan (sorry,i don't have it).
  • Yes I was eating a very low fat diet as the sound of the side effects sounded so bad & they still happened, not nice, there is another thread on the health & beauty page about this with other peoples experiences some have been much worse than mine.

I know they suggest taking a mulitvitamin alongside but if you're on a very low fat diet with the rest of the fat removed by alli how can fat soluble vitamins ever be absorbed? Just thinking outloud now....

Sorry if I've already posted this ( I maybe having a blonde moment but I can't see it!) But I managed to shift a 1lb this week, making my total loss 4 st 6lbs sooooo frustrating, I really wanted that 4.5 st award this week. Hey ho, on the positive side, I've got 4 pairs of ...................wait for it...................Size 12, shorts for my holiday in July and they all fit, WOOHOO. I bet you can tell I'm pleased about that. 11 Weeks to my hol and I'm within touching distance of my own personal target. Keep going everyone, honestly if I can do this ,anyone can!!!

One year and 2 weeks, but I must say I've not been totally angelic all the way through I had minor slip ups over holidays/birthdays/christmas etc. So I'd probably have achieved target by now if I'd been 100% on the plan, but hey you've gotta have a life too! At least thats the way I look at it, it doesn't really matter how long the journey takes as long as you get there in the end.

  • Thats the good thing about SW tho, can have time off for celebrations & get straight back on it!

Thats loads to lose in a year, well done you!
I'm hoping for my stone award tomorrow at WI, only got 1 pound to go & I've been back on it for 8 weeks, not sure how this week has gone tho, might have to wear trousers & not jeans to WI! hehe every little helps!

After all this time I still try to wear the lightest thing I can find ;), it's surprising how much difference what you're wearing can make. I did start out wearing the same thing every week, but I can't do that anymore because those clothes are way too big, which is a very nice problem to have.:D
Seriously though how have others decided on their target? Even when I get to 'the magic number' that I have in my head, I'll still only just be in the 'healthy weight' range on the charts. How do you know when you are the right weight for you, IYSWIM?
I stood in for the WI lady a couple of weeks back and it was a real eye opener. Some people weighed a lot more than I would've thought and others a lot less, which just goes to prove we're all unique. I guess what I'm trying to say ( although not very well) is that some of those people ,although technically overweight looked perfectly slim, fit and healthy to me, so how do you know when enough is enough. I doubt I'll ever have anorexia because I love my food to much but surely theres a danger that some could just keep pushing and pushing but others could set their target at an unhealthy weight ..............sorry I'm rambling now. Any comments?

    Evening all

My SW consultant told me to have 70 syns per week when I joined 5 weeks ago. I know that you can have up to 105/week really.

I am going away next weekend (sat to mon) and want to save up syns. If I aimed at 105 syns for this week would it adversly affect my weight loss as I've only been having 70 max so far?

Hopefully I'll be ok to stick to 70, but just in case....

    TIA

    Morning,
    Can you help me please?
I've been looking for help on the new Alli medication to find out if it's of use with SW. I can't see any discussion on this. Am I looking in the wrong place?
    Thank you
    Liz

Well yes, I think you are looking in the wrong place. This particular forum is generally used by members of Slimming World, or people following the Food Optimising plans, which are healthy, nutritious and filling whilst still allowing a sensible rate of weight loss.

As others have said many times, there is only one way to lose weight and keep it off (the hard part IMO) and that is to take in fewer calories than you expend. It's easier with SW because all the 'working out' is done for you, all you have to do is follow a few basic rules - no calorie counting, fat counting or anything else and all without a leaky anus  (this is what can happen with orlistat).

There is, honestly, no such thing as a quick fix. If there was, ask yourself why there are still so many overweight people? Personally I will stick with SW - it may not be super-quick, but it is healthy and it really does work.

Flutterbyuk25 - it won't hurt if you have a few extra syns occasionally. Have a good weekend and don't worry :D
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
