  • Yay...I'm so glad you all like the porridge too! I think it really helps changing around what we eat as I know if I eat the same all the time my weight loss slows down & this is a yummy new thing to try!

I really like porridge too but dont fancy it warm in the summer (i hope we have 1 this year)!! This is a good way to be able to eat it all year round!

I am wanting to get back on to slimming world. If I join on line, will I get all the books I need with that? I remember having a book that you could look up the sin value of things - what was this book and will I get that one.
Am I best to go to a class?? It just time is limited.

The book you describe is the Food Directory. This lists umpteen thousand branded products along with their syn value. This years new one is just out and is a little easier to understand than last years I believe (well, it couldn't be harder really).

I'm not sure what you get with an online membership, but I am sure you won't get this particualr book. It retails at about £7 in group.

In my opinion, for speedy results, the class is the way to go. Most people respond better to having someone to answer to each week. It is possible to go it alone of course, but if you can afford to, I would join a group and get the benefit of the help, advice and support from the other members and your Consultant (all of which is missing online).

    Afternoon everyone

Well, I've had a topsy turvy day. I braved the scales this morning and to my horror had put 2lbs on. Needed to go shopping so trudged out feeling fat and fed up.

Once out walked past jeans section in shop and decided to try on a pair as my old ones have developed a temperamental zip.

Picked up my usual size 12's - massive
size 10's - which have been a distant memory for too long - fit perfectly except for the waist which was still a bit too loose!

Left shop without jeans, but with massive boost to self confidence. This has restored my faith! I think I might try not to bother weighing myself again and just go on clothes fit.

So to any of you who have 'gained' and feel fed up, take heart. Sometimes the scales do lie!!

It's not that the scales lie - this is a well known phenomenon among long term Slimming Worlders and the reason we always recommend that you measure yourself when starting to Food Optimise. Many times you will find that when you haven't lost ounces you will lose inches. It's a brilliant result which will hopefully, give you the motivation to stick to plan.

Hi I have slowly lost a stone since Jan but now my I am maintaining. Woudl liek to give my loss a bit of a boost and wondered about trying Mix 2 Max for a change as I seem to get a bit stuck trying to think of different things to have for lunch and tea on a a green or red day. It sounds too good to be true taht I coudl have Marions rice for brekkie, then a red lunch and green tea and two HE A and B! (Have I got this correct?) Has anybody done Mix 2 max, does it work? any recommendations?

    TIA

It really works if you follow the rules carefully but it can take a little getting used to at first.

    STEP 1:

Choose a Green or Original Meal and stick to your choice while enjoying that meal.
Have up to three meals a day.

    Step 2:

Focus on Free Food. Enjoy as much Free Food as you like, either Green or Original from the choice that you have made for that meal.

    Step 3:

Choose three or four Healthy Extras each day from either the Green or Original choices to have with meals or as snacks.

    Step 4:

For other snacks throughout the day, or for starters or desserts, choose Superfree Foods or count them as syns.

    Step 5:

Enjoy Five to 15 Syns per day
If your main course contains any syns then count the syn values appropriate to the Green or Original Choice you are following for that meal.

    Note:

On a Mix2Max day everything that you eat apart from your main courses, that is not a Super-free food or a Healthy Extra has syns and you must take the highest syn value whether it is green or original.

Have you thought about trying the Extra Easy plan - this is indeed extra easy and works very well if you make sure you have the third of a plate of superfree foods with each meal (this isn't mandatory but does make a difference IMO)

  • lost 3.5 at weigh in yesterday which meant I've lost my first stone in 7 weeks. Can't believe it, it took me 6 months to do this last year on my own; and I put it back on! I'm eating more than before too.

The magic porridge sounds good, i'll try that this week and will try to drink more water too.

Thanks for all the positive advice in this thread:)

    Hi all

Been away for a while. But thought I'd share a find - I spotted these in Morrisons today: http://www.mikado-lu.co.uk/. They're chocolate dipped biscuits - small, but only half a syn (11Kcal) each. They're half price at the minute - about 50p a pack.
  • At our meeting yesterday the consultant said that weetabix was great with diet lemonade if you didn't want milk!!!! Don't think I'll try this tip!!!! has anyone else????:)
