Sheila the other thing that im partial to is cheese which is probabily just as bad. Its weigh day for me in the morning so hopefully I will be looking at loosing the pound ive gained and another would be amazing. This may sound odd but I feel larger and my clothes tighter. Ive taken to sortof dancing round the house in my own way as well to burn off a few calories. Wishing you all a good day.Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -
I once asked for the potatoes to be replaced with veg and was told they didn't do veg only salad but i'd had that as a starter (Harvester) so i had to resist the hot bread rolls and leave the spuds on my plate
Maybe with the new 'lower carbs' guidelines for diabetics and over 2.9 million UK sufferers (4 million by 2025) we will have some lc menus popping up in restaurants. QUOTE
i went for a meal at the local wethersp00ns, and had the mixed grill , i asked for extra veg instead of chips , they said they couldnt do extra mushrooms and tomatoes as they are too expensive , i ended up with half a ton of peas :rotfl:
also i recently been talking to a diabetic specialist nurse , regarding carbs and the new recommendations are 50g of carbs per meal  and 2-3 snacks of 10- 15 g carbs  plus they can still have 14-21 units of alcohol
so they are recommending over 200g carbs a day :eek: how on earth does any diabetic manage normal blood sugar on those sort of carbs :(0 -
Phew, am worn out, shopping done and house cleaned/dishes done.
Some lovely recipes and great info on sheilas link.. preparation is the key as we say so i'm off to cook.
Found some lovely ready cooked chicken breasts wrapped in black forest ham and stuffed with caramelised red onion and mozzarella for when i'm in a rush.. 9.1g each, £2.99 for the twowill be lovely to heat up in work with a salad.
Everyone in the canteen always fancies my lc meals, they look so fresh and healthy compared to the stodgy (but nice tho) canteen food, have had so many queries about my sandwiches, no-one believes it's home made lc bread
I am making mercy's fudge, cheesy leeks, butternut squash soup, strawberry gateau (sheilas link) lc bread, cooked veg and a huge salad to dip into during the week.
Cripes.. i dunno where to start
Ooh also, i didn't realise kiwis were lc so one more fruit to add to the lc list0 -

Sounds like you have a busy evening ahead of you Mazzers! The fudge sounds so good...I may have to find the recipe.
Nuttybabe I commend you eating salad, I just can't get the inclination at this time of year. The actual thought of it is depressing to me, however in the summer I love it!
I am interested in what total carb counts everyone is on per day and still losing weight with?
Currently doing 20g but not sure how sustainable this is long term for me. I will soon be back behind a desk and need to think up lunchtime ideas that are relatively low and not a salad until May! Any suggestions?0 -

edited to put my meals on
B: 3 fried eggs and 1 slice lc bread

Was someone after side dish ideas?
I've just done baked mushrooms, stuffed with blue shropshire cheese and coated with flax seed rather than breadcrumbs, mushrooms are only 5g carbs per 100g, so you could get 4-5 for 100g depending on size.
I started them off in the frying pan, and coated them with garlic and chilli butter, once a bit soft, took them out, put the cheese in, brushed with beaten egg and coated with the flax seed. Let them rest for a while then finished them off in the oven approx 30 mins. Soft, crispy and gooey all at the same time - yum.
In the oven at the same time was a prawn, bacon, and asparagus quiche. I used the same base as on the cheesecake recipe previously shown - but without the sugar. The mix was 5fl oz double cream, 4 tbsp milk, 2 eggs, S + P. I haven't worked out the carbs, but it can't be much. I only made one a few days ago but it's so good we had to have another - and asparagus is on offer at the mo. I don't need to say that any combination of green veg and meat/fish could be used.0 -

The fudge is Mexican Fudge on pg 1. Has chillis but can use anything full of flavour. chrizo and slices of cherry toms work well.
I'm lucky in that we have a microwave at work so I make meals and freeze, defrost through the morn (on the radiator) and so can have many options. Currently in the freezer - HM curry over cauli, chunky veg n lamb broth, liver casserole over leeks, cauli, broc and carrot.
Is this possible for you? When at work in winter I need a warm meal. Most of them have chillis for extra warmthIf you can heat stuff up, then any damp warm food you like can be yours
I buy 500ml lidded plastic tubs from the chippy as they are much better than most for sale and do well in micro and dishwasher. Also they guide portion control in a cool way. (she charges me too much for the tubs but 10 for £3 last longer that 10 for £1 in my experience :rotfl:)
