Thanks Mazzers! We can do it! I've put back on half the weight, so I am pleased I'm not right back at the start. I've just cleared out my cupboards and removed all 'prohibited' foods! Found some real naughty stuff too. I've done a a quick stock check and written my shopping list so will be off to the shops tomorrow to stock up on acceptable foods. Just done a wee stick and found I do have a tiny trace of Ketosis which is interesting as I've gorged on carbs most of today so I'll keep an eye on that.

Just been out for dinner @ Frankie and Benny's @ Brighton Marina and I thought I would try and have a carb free meal- God the chips and onion rings looked good! I had Tiger prawns on rocket to start, so far so good. For main I had bacon steaks, mushroom and asked for the lovely looking chips to be replaced with a salad- I did it!
I have now eaten in a restaurant and avoided temptation, although it was hard to watch my friend as she devoured pancakes with ice-cream and toffee sauce for desert as I played with ice in my diet coke.
That is now a whole seven days gone with absolutely no cheating, this time next week will be the first two weeks done and my first weigh in- I feel something spectacular coming along on the scales on Sunday morning.
    Good night low carbers.

worried jim > Amazing! You must have willpower made of steel!

I went shopping to replenish my cupboards with 'good' foods. I'd forgotten how expensive lc'ing can be!

    Total carbs: ~ 21g

    Exercise: None to speak of.

    Welcome back
caeler. You had a pretty good reason for falling off the wagon! Hope things are promising on that front. You sound determined. I'm sure you'll get back into it and do well. Mercy has updated her recipe list, so be sure to take a look (link on first post in thread) ;)

To anyone who's lurking, especially any who have been catching up on older posts as well as newer ones
    ;), :hello: . Hope you're doing well :)

    Well done on being strong
Jim :T Often hard to do, but feels good afterwards - as long as the repression doesn't build up and 'burst out' (e.g. binge) Although.. can't help feeling that us women are more prone to this kind of thing... (Men seem to do well when they diet.. and they seem less susceptible to emotional/comfort eating...) ...

    Mmm
Mazzers. I often eat Brazils, so I must melt some dark choccie and dip a few in it one day. What a lovely treat!

Well done Jim, eating out is can be difficult if you're lc.
I once asked for the potatoes to be replaced with veg and was told they didn't do veg only salad but i'd had that as a starter (Harvester) so i had to resist the hot bread rolls and leave the spuds on my plate :(

Maybe with the new 'lower carbs' guidelines for diabetics and over 2.9 million UK sufferers (4 million by 2025) we will have some lc menus popping up in restaurants.

    Today is the day folks..
I have had my bacon/egg/mushrooms and am off to Aldi for some cheap veg and salad, i will then be baking lc goodies :)

    :D :j :T Go Mazzers! Go Mazzers! Go Mazzers!!! :T :j :D

Just back from dog walk with boys. We did 10 mins. interval training ('did' being used in the loosest possible sense regarding youngest! lol). Now I have to somehow get him interested in doing some kind of cardio and Yoga... Amazing how much energy they have when they want and how quickly they become tired when they don't...

Today will set the precedent for the week...

    Wish me luck!

EDIT: Ooer, he says he wants to do Wii 'Just Dance'.. He usually gets upset if he comes last, which is easy to get around (we just put our remotes on the table for a while lol), so we'll see how this goes..

worriedjim - well done on resisting the temptation . It isn't easy when your family / friends are gorging themselves on chips and other yummy things

narabanekeater - it can't be easy with the kids, I've worked with special needs children and they can be so challenging. Keep up the good work but is there anything else that satisfies the need for sweets that you could have on standby?

Mercy - you are a great encourager. Where is the recipe for almond slices please? Edit - Just found under your recipes section. Thanks.

caeler - well done for not putting it all back on. Good luck with starting over

mazzers - thanks for the idea about chocolate brazils and also for your encouragement

    hannoja - Good Luck!

Had a reasonable day yesterday but think I overdid it a bit with the nuts. Had to wait until gone 8 to have dinner as I was babysitting and my granddaughter wouldn't settle so I shovelled down some nuts and then a few more to keep me going!!

Breakfast - half avacado with soft cheese
Lunch - one scrambled egg with 1 ryvita and a few prawns
    Dinner - chicken with veg

Have a good day everyone :)

    Hiya

Well, after another bad weekend i am back on induction. My asthma is bad and i feel bloated and my jeans must have shrunk in the wash again! ;)

    So today

    b - hot dog & 1/2 tin of toms - 5g carbs
    l - cheeseburger pie - 5g carbs
    t - chicken with salad - 5g carbs

so i have 5g carbs for snacks and cream in tea. snacks will be pate on cucumber or philly on celery.

drinks - water (aiming for 4 pints), green tea and maybe normal tea.

I am picking up zumba for the wii later so might even have a blast on that. :D

    Hey

I have to confess to a pretty shocking weekend booze wise...on a plus note I did not put any weight on :-)

I did however find some naughty nibbles in Aldi - they had 85% choc that in my opinion was so much nicer that the lindt. Additionally, it came in 5 little bars to remove any extra temptation !

I think I am going to go over today carb wise as I made a roasted red pepper and tomato soup for lunch that is 11 carbs per serving and with the curry I have planned for tonight it will send me over. It was tasty though.

Sounds like there is a lot of determination on this board which is super!

Welcome back Caeler - well done on not putting it all back on. You cAN do this. (I hope the news is better for you now)

Worried Jim - go you! well done on avoiding temptation. I'm sure you will have great results next week.

Well, I'm not doing badly. I have the day off today, so have been visiting my cousin. So far she has offered me toast, pizza, biscuits, sweets and chocolate. When I told her I was low carbing, she said she doesn't know what carbs are ..... I tried to explain but she doesn't want to know. No problem, but I'm not sabotaging myself this time, so I came home and had some home made mushroom soup with cream and a one minute muffin to dunk in it and spoonful of peanut butter. It was very filling.
Cold chicken and cauli cheese for dinner.

    Have a good day all.
