  • Hi all!

Sistercas-will deffo get some gluten stuff...did you use a breadmaker? Also-does it toast? Any chance of a piccy???!

Well...still feel great & still only 2kg weight loss. As I might have said before i survived 3 days in France with no gain! lat weekend had TWO NIGHTS of curry takeouts-no rice but a chapatti each & paapdums (not too bad actually-5 gms/papadum) -the mango chutney was bad though...result-1 kg weight GAIN.

I deffo think my nightly vodie (or 3) ain't helping. Here's the bizarre thing....Monday this week-gym body fat analyser-% body fat 25.3%. Today-22.7%! SO actual FAT is going ...I feel slimmer but when is this f*****g water weight gonna go!

I really look forwars to my voddie after work....hey ho! I'm generally good & 30 gms carbs max-usually aim at 20 a day.

Really moving up a gear with weights at gym too.

    Hi All

It is good to read all of your stories, including the ups and downs which we all have.

Went to hospital today as I need surgery for abdominal hernias. Last March I was told to go away and lose some weight. Today the doctor couldn't say too much as he noticed that I had lost 30kg. There was even a hint of respect in his eye! However he offered me the op now but suggested that, if I could lose a bit more before I have it, then the outcome would be better so I am going back in July.

Low carbing does work but, in my experience, it does get harder as you lose weight. I have bought some decaff Carte Noir and will try it tomorrow.

One question which is a bit delicate. Despite eating veg I am getting more and more constipated so any ideas as I really don't want to take laxatives?

Have had 50 carbs today which is more than most of you I know but I increased it by 5g a week a while back and this seemed to be the most I could have and still lose weight. Weight loss has now slowed right down although I lost 2lb last week after a 4 week stall. I still want to lose another two and a half stone so need to plod on.

Keep up the good work and, if tempted as I am, have something reallly nice but low carb put aside as a treat when needed.

    Thanks for everything!!

DM, my 'water weight' didnt ever go, i think it's a fallacy and it disheartened me .. but i did get smaller.
Stick at it you're doing great.

Sheila i use psyllium husk, still take one tsp daily even tho i'm failing on the lc front (good all day, bad when i get home)

Been really tired and falling asleep on sofa til late :o

Really need to up my game now as i've got training for a temporary job that may become permanent, it's 'smart casual' wear for twelve weeks and nothing fits so i'd like to lose a stone by 27th
I have managed this in the past :) only because i'm so bl00dy fat!!

Hi all. Another long one, sorry.

Plodding on here, though feeling rather fed up, down in the dumps, etc.. though usually these kinds of feelings make me fall off the wagon, but I seem to have gone the opposite way over the last couple of days.. i.e. not bothering to eat.. hope it lasts!

Sheila, thank you for your get well wishes. I hope the last 2 super low carb days pay dividends too! Your mushrooms sound yummy. Might try them, though I'd use up the Boursin that's lurking in the fridge - never been too keen on erm... that kind of cheese.. :p Soooo well done on your weight loss. You've done brilliantly. I take it that it's your decision to wait a bit longer for the op., till you've lost a bit more..? Wow. How strong of you. Well done! :T Re. constipation, I'm not a good one to give advice, since I still often suffer in that department. However, maybe try the Psyllium Mazzers suggested, but don't get a huge tub of powder like I did! Try a small pack of tablets if you can get them. Before that, I'd suggest making sure you drink as much water as you can - I'm aiming for 3 L a day; and make sure you're not eating too much saturated fat.

Well done Minihauk on resisting all the cake!! :T It's always like that with people: you get offered so much more of something when you're trying to give it up!

Cas: you're really getting into the hot dog sausages aren't you! :rotfl: Yes, I do have just 2 frankfurters for brekkie, and they do satisfy me. They're quite long though.. ~ 7" ;)

Welcome Jim. Hope the LC way suits you :)

Great stuff sofababe. Well impressed with your day: you could easily have made the excuse that you forgot to shop, etc.. and gone for something naughty, but didn't :T The cheesy bake thing sounded rather nice too.

Debtmonkey.. maybe the fat's turning to muscle..? Whatever's going on, it's clear that you're making progress in the right direction.

Mazzers, you could try falling alseep on the sofa before you're naughty.. ;):p Good luck. You can do it - you've done it before after all :D

Yesterday was another strange day. Forgot breakfast so had it after walk, thus making me wait to do exercise. Fell out with OH and lost my appetite in evening, so another 'light' day.

B: Asda g/f sausage with couple eggs mixed in frying pan (scrambled) (trace carbs..)
L: Prawn cocktail with red gem lettuce and chilli flakes (~4g)
    T: Nada.. (nada..)

O: Tea, coffee, s/f chewing gum, 3 L water :T (2 L bottle, then 2 pints of green tea/lemon.. cheated a bit too, since I just drank about 1/2 pint of water that I took to bed.)

Total carbs.: ~4g...  :rotfl:

Was going to have a couple of glasses of red wine, but was too determined to drink my water.

    Exercise: Hour's dog walk, 1/2 hour's belly dance cardio., 1/2 hour's Yoga.

DM yes its definitely worth making ( sorry didnt take a piccy - i will next time though) i had it toasted this morning with a poached egg and it toasted fine . i didnt use the breadmaker i used the dough hook on my kenwood , then just plopped it in a bread tin - covered it , put in a warm place for an hour then cooked it in the oven . :D

as for the water thing , i have just bought some new scales which measure body fat / water - it says in the manual the fatter you are the lower your water content , hence as you lose weight your water percentage goes up

mazzers keep going , even doing it during the day will help im sure ( have you looked at the harcombe diet? after phase 1 you can choose to have fat meals i.e low carb or carb meals ( but low fat) and you can mix them during the day , so you could have bacon , eggs for breakfast , low fat sandwich using wholemeal bread for lunch and then another fat meal in the evening , i think as long as you leave 4 hrs inbetween and dont mix fat and carbs in 1 meal you would be ok :D

    Hi all!

Been a bit strangely ill - my oesophagus from throat to what I assume is top of stomach was so painful. Felt like i'd just swallowed something too big n hard for about 2 days. Painkillers and really upping the Vitc and D and zinc seems to have helped. A few folk at work have had it but gone on to develop flu symptoms. Was really strange as my head was quite clear at all times. I've never had owt like that before. At least the fluey aftermath appears to be averted. :j

Anyway, as I've been off, I've been lazy. Not eaten anything other than LC as I've not been bothered to go shopping for it specially :) When in asda i just bought usual things and wasn't diverted because I just wanted to get home :)

    Food today
B - 3 eggs, 1 chopped sausie and cheese. With a few mini toms cooked at side so hot n juicy :)

Will have 1 of my HM curries for lunches (for supper) as they're great and I fancy 1.

Have hit the brandy a bit but no alcohol tomorrow as I'm cooking. :rotfl:

Making liver casserole to use over cauli n veg, Bakewell slices and mexican fudge.

    Big love

    Hi

    Constipation!
If i ever feel congested I up my Flax intake. I make flaxbread and flax cracker type things (Page1 recipes)

I've had a problem with bread for several years so am over the 'how will I live without bread' thing. It comes. So when I do get congested I really enjoy the ability to spread stuff on bread / crackers. Mostly I don't even think about bread at all.

    Sweet cravings

Again page one. Try some of the cakes / buns available. If they're just 1-2 carbs per piece they can be worked into the most stringent diets. If you have others with you in your home be prepared to erect barbed wire fences or just make a lot of them. :rotfl::rotfl:

    Saturated fat

No longer seen as a problem for heart disease - in fact quite the contrary. Will look up and post links tomorrow. Remember when eggs were evil? Similar thing. What you should avoid is TRANS FATS as they are damaged and cause free radical damage within the body. So, to recap, butter, lard, fat on meat etc are all ok ;)

    Love to all low carbers!

Had another good day today. I have always worried about weekends and temptation- weekday are fine busy at work with out time to even think about food but weekends....
I have found some gorgeous sausages in Tesco's called "Porky Whites" Surrey pork sausages with only 1.7g of sugar carbs per sausage and I had a couple for breakfast with 3 hard boiled eggs. I didn't know what to do for supper tonight and reading through this thread I copied an idea. One tin of hot dog sausages, 1 fried onion and then put it all in a bowl ans sprinkled with Cheddar and finished for ten minutes in the oven- absolutely superb and 100% filling, will defo do again next week.
I will have been low carbing 1 week tomorrow and have decided to just weigh myself every two weeks but I a looking forward to a week tomorrow to see the first stage complete- I know that in just six days I have lost weight as I was trudging around Tesco earlier and kept having to pull my trousers up. Happy days.

    Hiya!

Worried jim - sounds like you're doing something you enjoy! Do get a good belt, though wouldn't want to get arrested for slimming :)

I've heard on here that when Men start LCing they lose weight fast. If this is true - enjoy! :j

I think weighing fortnightly is a good idea though you may find you want to know more often as things progress. Still only keep it to once a week if you do get the need - too often will confuse and frustrate :)

If you find yourself drilling new holes in that new belt you probably won't care :rotfl:

    Big luck n love

    Hello

Just a little note to the ones who find it difficult to sleep.

    http://www.drbriffa.com/2012/02/10/can-lack-of-sleep-contribute-to-obesity/

I've found that if I've had inadequate sleep I am hungrier the next day. Of course if we are LCing we would simply eat more of the same? :rotfl:

    No, we'll grab what helps.

I've sorted my sleep problems but for many it's a real difficulty.

Don't beat yourself up for being hungry if you've had a bad night - just make suitable choices. Understanding why we're hungry gives us more control.

Again preparation :) Have lots of good food n snacks available so you can relax with the need to scoff more.

    Sweet dreams to you all
