gers - you did really well to resist the wine after such a very long day.
mazzers - sorry to hear you're struggling - hope it passes soon - enjoy your lunch and your friend's company.
sunnyday - glad you're ok - but very
    busy.
    Well done sheila54 2lb is 2lb!
re side dishes - not much help here as I tend to use cauli and broccoli, turnip, mushrooms, tomatoes with onions etc etc.
    b -boiled egg with toast
    l - cheese and ham
d - lentil loaf topped with onions and cheese.
    Happy day everyone.

    Hi all :)

    Bit long this one
    :o

    Re.
hot dog sausages, I have them practically every morning: 2 Herta frankfurters - chilli ones. I think they're £1.99, which works out at ~ 40p per day for breakfast (plus the ketchup).
They're quick and easy (few secs. in micro.), hot and tasty and I love them :D I do think I may have to ditch them one day though, since they're processed, and probably too 'sat. fatty'..

They have 2g of carbs./100g, all of which sugars; and 25g fat!, 9.8g of which saturates...

Per sausage they are 0.7g carbs., 8.8g fat, of which 3.4g saturates..

So my usual brekkie (not counting the Colac) is 1.4g carbs, 17.6g fat, of which saturates, 6.8g.. (is that a lot of sat. fat..?)

    Anyway, yesterday was good:

    B: 2 frankies & Colac (~2g)
L: Prawn cocktail with lettuce and chilli flakes (~4g)
T: A pork mince and veg. thing I did in the slow cooker: onion, cabbage, a sweet potato (needed using), mushrooms, herbs, etc.. (no idea of carbs.. 20g? I had two bowls.. ~ 2-3 cups..?)

O: Tea, coffee, (both decaf.), ~4 pints water(/green tea/lemon), Square of 85% choccie. (~2g). Had a sugar free blackcurrant/liquorice boiled sweet too. Oh and my usual s/f chewing gum in the morning, which I never thought to mention before..

    Total carbs: ~28g..?

Exercise: ~45 mins doggie walk today (slippy ice/hard-work-walking-in snow), 15 mins. 'whip 'n' trip'
    :rotfl::o, hour's Callanetics.

Sunny and Mazzers> glad you're still here and posting, even if you're not firing on all lc cylinders :)
Sunny, your 'hard-working-ness' is almost sickening. You sound like bloody superwoman sometimes!
Mazzers, hope you found a way to hide the tum so you could have an enjoyable lunch.

Well done on resisting the take away and wine
Gers. I know what you mean about the cheesecake. That's partly why I haven't got around to making any of the bread yet.. I think I'd just go on a 'bread fest'

    Yay
Shiela, must feel great to shift some after a long stall. Well done for your perseverance! :T

, I'm with Gloom. I wouldn't say I can't tell the difference between Cauli and potato mash, but I was extremely surprised at how subtle the difference is.
Have a good browse of the huge list of links Mercy has kindly put up: mentioned in the first post in this thread. You're sure to find some yummy things to try :)

Right, off to see whether the wii fit thinks I'm a piggy...

Thanks Gloom...Will try and reduce my coffees. I don't think I could do cold turkey at the moment, I have two nespressos for my first breakfast of the day which is my non moneysaving guilty habit!!

Sheila, good call on the smoked haddock, I love smoked haddock risotto so I am sure I can make a lovely smoked haddock soup. Will let you know how I get on!

With regards to side dishes, Jamie Oliver in his Ministry of food book has a recipe called Best Ever French Beans that is essentially beans with garlic parmesan and olive oil and a slug of lemon juice that I have to admit was scrumptious...He also has a broccoli with Asian dressing that is brocolli with ginger, garlic, chilli, soy sauce, sesame oil, olive oil, balsamic and lime juice. Cant imagine that would break the carb bank?

Well today I had soup for breakfast and I am having left over roast chicken for lunch with some roast red tomatoes and peppers and small salad with parmesan yummy hopefully!

thanks for all the encouraging comments - they really help when I'm dreaming of wine lakes, takeaway islands and cheesecake mountains!

All this talk of veggies made me realise that I have recipe book on my shelves called 'The Vegetarian Low Carb Diet Cookbook' by Rose Elliott.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vegetarian-Low-carb-Diet-Cookbook/dp/0749926988 It's full of yummy recipes too.

I'm ashamed to report that I haven't got out of my pjs today - just bunged some clothes over the top and sat at my laptop all day working away. Trouble with being away so much is that all those meetings generate a load of work which then needs to get down somehow. So, I've been here most of the day - no fresh air - and cracked on. Feel very virtuous indeed. Only LC food too. I may just disappear in a haze of angel-like dust. :rotfl::rotfl:

Half day tomorrow then going up north to the frozen Weegie-land for the weekend. Fingers crossed for no snow but lots of LC food.

    ...not dreaming of THAT cheescake....

    Hi Everyone

Is it a side effect of low carbing that I feel cold all of the time, even in bed?

    Came across this when searching
    http://lowcarbdiabetic.co.uk/Recipes.htm

Some of the recipes look yummy

Breakfast - scrambled egg with 1 ryvita
Lunch - soup from yesterday + cheese, cucumber & 1 ryvita
Dinner - bolognese sauce with cauliflower, broccoli and cheese

Limiting myself to 2 small coffees a day. Can anyone recommend any decaff coffee?

I love frankfurters but am trying to cut out nitrates to stop stalling again. Miss bacon as well.

I am ashamed to say that my exercise today has been housework and running upstairs. Just couldn't bring myself to go out as it is so cold.
You put me to shame when I read about your exercise and, when it is warmer, I will make sure that I walk lots. Exercise bike has packed up which is a pain!

I've been so cold, I've eaten all sorts of forbidden things lately - a pork pie, 3 cream crackers and 3 new potatoes today, for example :o
I'm sure we must need some more carbs in this weather. Brrrr!

i dont drink coffee myself but my bil went cold turkey on caffine and got the shakes and was ill for a week (would think nothing of constant coffee's with coke inbetween) and he now has dowe egberts de caf so I would assume that its a nice one. as he wont have rubbish.

i think you can get bacon without nitrates but it will probably be more expensive.
