  • Evening guys
Im still here and trying lol. Am still sticking to it but do feel realy disheartend. Please just a pound off Monday would be fantastic. Ive had some lovely sweeties bought for me to today they say carbs 87g of whick sugars less than 0.5g of which polyols 85.5g. Im fine with those arent I?
    Today ive had
    B- 3 hotdogs with 2 scrablies (3)
Dinner on the go was pork scratchings (0)
snack was a few slices of yummy edam
Tea- was beef mince(500g yes I was hungry) with courgette and more cheese (? havent a clue about courgettes)
and ive also had 6 of those sweeties and some berries. Ive got a sunday dinner planned for tom so will be topping up my veg intake then. If on Monday I havent lost my gain at least I think im going to have to rethink my diet as its costing my a fortune in food we dont really usually buy much of. For some reason low carbing just hasnt worked for me since I had 2 days off at Christmas and I havent a clue why. Before Christmas was fantastic and im doing nothing different.
Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!

    Hi sweets

I'm not losing anything but I do feel better in all ways. That's something.

Polyols affect different folk in different ways. Maltitol is supposed to be a bad one. Watch out for looseness.

Also - why do you need sweets?

I have about 3 extra strong mints a day and forget the sugar. My body knows what to do with sugar. I personally wouldn't use fake sugar sweets but you will have to try them. and try yourself. If you like them too much etc.

Looking at your food for today it seems very heavy on protein. Better to try to get as much veg as you can - 2/3 veg on plate vs protein. Wouldn't worry too much about carbs in courgette or cabbage, cauli, spinach, green beans, leek, broccoli and other green stuff.

Try to have a variety of veg and at least a little more.

For lunches etc it is not that hard to add a handful of salad or some home made coleslaw. If you have it already in fridge.

Veggies are our saviours. vitamins, minerals and padding :rotfl:

You may just be eating a bit too much protein. I, personally, could demolish 500g mince if hungry enough. But I make 4 meals out of that with veg n served over veg (cauli, broccoli, leeks) and freeze for later use :)

Got a good quick cheese sauce recipe I'm posting after this. could be useful if you like cheese.

    Hello

    Cheese sauce

Good for pouring over, using as stir fry additive, making veggies more lovely, cooking things in, in fact it is as good as you make it.

50g ? full fat cream cheese

optional could be the title of this
Good cheddar or any cheese which will melt in amount required - use cheese to thicken, add flavour, mix em up - look what's in the fridge
Parsley / coriander / fresh herbs
cayenne / black pepper / turmeric (yellow)
Choose you initial flavourings from your personal choice - do not add ALL of the above :)

Is very nice melted first then add
    very finely chopped leeks
Peppers finely chopped or other wise - it's your sauce
    Anything else flavourful.
    Mushrooms
    FF cream

    Make your cheese sauce then
Pour over asparagus, serve with ham or whatever
Add to stir fry veggies of any sort
    Add to mushrooms
    Add to anything you like

If it's too thin use a small amount of corn flour mixed in milk thoroughly to thicken. So little is needed. Unless you have a corn sensitivity, do not fret.

Heat up any pre-cooked pork or chicken in it - but not lamb or beef
Have with white fish - lots of parsley if you like that

If you like it it's wonderfully useful. If you don't - alter it to your tastes.

If you can't do cheese in any aspect - try a very different recipe :)

One tin of hot dog sausages, 1 fried onion and then put it all in a bowl ans sprinkled with Cheddar and finished for ten minutes in the oven- absolutely superb and 100% filling, will defo do again next week.

That is exactly what we had last night. Good isn't it. :)

Dunno if i fancy the frankensteinfurters _pale_

Sistercas, thanks for the suggestion, i think i bought the Harcombe book but never tried it, sounds right up my alley :)

Good info on the water too, sounds logical, we are after all 72% water, there's no water in fat so as it disappears our water increases.. nice one, i'll go along with that :D

Dunno if it's my age (decreasing hormones) but i'm craving chips and chocolate all the time, so unlike me :(

I'll have to be hoisted out through the roof if i dont calm down, why cant i crave salad instead :D

Ate much more yesterday. Funny, used to be the weekends when I was guaranteed to eat less.. 'go figure' lol

    B: An Asda g/f sausage (0g)
    L: Prawn cocktail (~4g)
T: Came home to gorgeous roast chicken breasts, big mound of cauli/broccoli and swede. Yum! (no idea carbs.. 8g..?)

O: Decaf. tea (1, with Alpro u/s) & coffee (1 with d/cream and sweetener), Lump of corned beef (negligible..), ~6 Brazil nuts (~3g?), couple boiled s/f sweets, 5 pints water (couple as green tea/lemon juice), 1.5 glasses red wine (5g..?)

    Total carbs: ~20g..?

Exercise: None to speak of: 'rest day'.

    Morning all

narabanekeater, mercy and all of you who are not losing, take heart as my weight hadn't changed for 4 weeks and then lost 2lb last week. I weigh weekly and tomorrow is the day so we'll see. It is disheartening but personally, if I now eat too many carbs I end up feeling sick anyway and have to take more meds for my stomach.

Jim, well done and keep up the good work.

Mazzers, why not make the chocolate mousse as it is only 5 carbs a portion and have a spoonful when you crave chocolate. How about making chips from swede? Also please let me know how the cakes turn out.

Thanks for the advice re physillium husk and flax, I will try upping the veg first but will get some in.

I have taken your advice and changed to Carte Noir decaff and will try to stick to 2 cups a day. Mercy is right, we need to have lots of low carb veg to fill us up and I like making ratatouile or a vegetable curry when I know that I haven't eaten enough. Add a boiled egg or some chicken also sometimes.

Personally I don't eat frankfurters as they have a lot of additives and I am trying to eat healthily. I am now 61 and decided at 60 that I had to get my life in order or the health problems would just keep piling on. Tried dieting for years but this is the first time I have tried low carb and it works, unlike the yoyo dieting I have done before. Feel lots better as well.

Breakfast - half an avacado with soft cheese (5 carbs)
Lunch - fritatta with veg, cheese & bacon (having this as a treat now instead of daily) (7 carbs)
Dinner - Roast chicken with veg (7 carbs)
Treats - Coffee with cream liquer (8 carbs) and chocolate mousse with cream and rasperries (8 carbs), nuts (5 carbs)

I get the avacados from Lidl or Aldi at 59p and wait for them to ripen. Veg from there also as cheaper. Liquer is from Lidl @ 3.99 bottle, raspberries frozen from Aldi, 3 packs for £5. Free range eggs 6 for £1.

I had nearly 60 carbs yesterday so have to compensate today.

Wish the weather would warm up as it is so much easier to exercise in the Summer as I don't mind walking. I think that you are so good the way that you exercise and I know it is the answer but I feel so cold!

worried jim welcome you will find a wealth of information on here , lc is perfect for managing diabetes

mercy WOW! you are so knowledgable :T have bookmarked the info re sleep- thanks
i eat sugar free sweets and they do upset my stomach , but sometimes i really NEED sweet stuff and they seemed to be the better option, now perhaps because of all the synthetic ingredients maybe as you suggest the odd real sweet may be better, in all honesty i need to wean myself of sweet things altogether . but after years and years of a high daily sugar intake its hard to stop

Mazzers the body is supposed to be 72% water!! mine at present is 29.7% that shows how fat i am :(

on the plus side i have lost 3.4lbs this week :j:j
    yesterdays food:

b: haloumi 1 slice lc bread butter poached egg
l: 1 slice lc bread toms lettuce cucumber chicken and cheese
t: 2 sausages brocoli and peas in butter
snacks: s f sweets x 3 chicken , streaky bacon ( couldnt stop eating last night)

    RIP Whitney Houston
