Been looking for cheap golden linseeds and found a great site
http://www.ecogreenstore.co.uk/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=golden+linseeds
Cant believe i paid £3.60 for 300g in a supermarket and for a tenner you get FIVE KILO.
That's ace! Cheers babe!
I don't have a prob with the regular linseeds (flaxseeds) but I got 300g golden ones from H&B for a penny cos I was buying something else
Think they'll last me ages. They don't go off till you grind em so looks like you'll have no probs with 'congestion' for a goodly while:rotfl::beer:
Great bargain tho, I should use specialist shops more often. I use a lot of curry ingredients so thinking about a road trip (2 buses) to a great 'local' indian / asian shop and stocking up.
Nice 1!

Mazzers WOW WOW WOW that all looks amazing :T:T
well done you :T:T
mercy i must look at the mexican fudge recipe , the reason i havent looked yet is because i want it to taste like clotted cream fudge lol0 -
All done, bread still baking, never thought i'd finish..
Also made a small pot of Waldorf salad.. Just the dishes now
It was Sheilas link that stated kiwis are lc, never sure what to believe half the time!
My you have been busy and it all looks great. You must enjoy cooking!! I know that the link said that kiwis are low carb but, maybe, to diabetics 9g carb is low. I checked on 2 websites and they both said 9 but I'd be happy to find them less.
Cooked a chicken to keep in case of the munchies and had some with a dish of spinach & onions baked with cheese tonight.0 -

Wouldn't we all
I don't eat much fruit as it's all full of sugar. Actually, that's not the primary reason.. Actually I don't like fruit except lemons and limes, blueberries and strawberries and raspberries and kiwi n pineapple. But I don't eat the sweet ones.
I don't like pears apples and grapes. Except the grapes.
I'll put a banana in a smoothie to offset the bitterness of the cocoa but I don't like eating them.
Had a grapefruit over 2 days, but wasn't v impressed.
I'm not in on the fruit thing really. I do like all the ones listed as liked above but I never buy them unless I'm doing a fruit cocktail to take to family gathering (or mixing a cocktail). Barbeque type do. Then I wow them all with my selection - no apple pear or banana thogotta think o my figure :rotfl::rotfl: Nice to just have meat, salad n fruit tho, at these occasions. fruit will do as sweet/pudding. But is nice with meat.
Pineapple with meat will help one digest the protein - apparently. Too much pineapple dissolves bits of my mouth so can see the protein thing.
I'll stick to veg. I know where I am with salad, toms, broc, cabbage, green beans, carrot, turnip, leeks, leeks, lots of leeks. I'm low carb and happy
Not swede tho - Bleurgh and bleh. Not for me. Never. One of the best things about being a grown up is never needing to eat swede again. Ever.
Rambling - sorry. Had a swede forced on me 15 years ago, think it fermented

I love fruit, but can manage with berries.
I spose a couple of slices of kiwi as a garnish is ok then
My bread was a flop, i faffed about with it too much, wanted to take some of the mix for a couple of rolls for burgers in the week. The rolls came out good tho, i'll make separate mixes next time.
Its a bit brick like but i'm sure it'll be okay to dunk in my soup :rotfl: (its a bit frothy as i had only just finished whizzing it)0 -
Wow, what a domestic Godess Mazzers! Yummm! :T
I'm not big on fruit either Mercy. Not eating it for LC really doesn't bother me. Although since I seem to be eating more/varied veg. on lc I've wanted to try and eat more fruit too, but prob. only because I'm not allowed. I like bananas and 'non messy' tangerines/oranges. Also grapes and strawberries, raspberries, blackberries.. Dislike pineapple. Not fussed about others. Prefer salad and veg.
Yesterday went well. Did the boys an early light tea then we all went to watch eldest go for a cubs swimming badge. Didn't feel like eating once we got home and settled down.
B: 2 frankies 'n' sauce (1.4g)
L: Prawn cocktail, romaine, chilli flakes (~4g)
T: Bite of Vogel's Soya & Linseed Bread/toast [14.3g carbs/slice, 1.6g of which sugars] (~1g), bit of a fried egg, few cubes of cheese (Tesco's cheapie medium Cheddar: 0.1g/100g), ...
O: Tea, coffee (had a 'real' one - Lavazza - with sweetener and d/cream), uhm.. ~ 3-4 pints water.. a DeBron wine gum, s/f chewing gum, s/f boiled sweet (~1g), some cheese crisp, more cheese.. (~0.1g..) (could eat the whole block for 0.5g)
Total carbs: ~9g..?
Exercise: 10 mins interval training, ~ 25 mins Just Dance, ~ 25 mins P.M. stretch. Eldest was fab and did all with me. Youngest just did a half-hearted, floppy version of bits of everything....
I still don't get 'of which sugars'.. that implies that the rest of it doesn't turn to sugar... yet we count the big number.. <shrugs>

I wish I was like you. I always preferred fruit to veg, probably part of the cause of the weight problem. I rarely have it now, except a tablespoon of berries when I make chocolate mousse as it compliments the flavour, or so I believe! Do miss pineapple (fresh), bananas, clementines, nectarines etc though.
I actually like swede, mashed with butter, salt & pepper but it has to be cooked through.
I want to try the almond slices so may get the ingredients today as I need to do my weekly weigh and the supermarket is next door.
Think that I have been pretty good this week so we'll see.
I have never been able to eat a meal without a salad or veg, except breakfast, so have to keep some carb allowance for that.
If you are new to low carbing then this website has lots of info and recipes
http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/ It also has low carb recipes for Valentine's Day http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/lowcarbholidaymenus/a/valentinesday.htm
I see that some people have been low carbing for a while so any tips would be welcome. Also I need more fibre so which is the best flax recipe, in your opinion?
Have a good day everyone, at least it's not so cold!!0 -
Phew! My weight loss stall seems to be over.
I weighed myself this morning and I've now lost just over a stone in total. That is a big psychological milestone for me as it is half way. It has taken me roughly five weeks to achieve it. We've booked our summer holiday for mid July so I've got five months to lose the next stone. I hope it doesn't take that long.
The LC diet doesn't seem to be working particularly well for Mrs G though. She has lost only 3lbs in the same period. I think she is going to try and up her exercise to get things moving a bit quicker.0 -
Flippinheck Mazzers, do you have the rest of the LC board coming round for tea! What a feast :-) The cake looks lush, I shall have to make some.
Well caeler, I am on week 3 of my diet and do have a fair bit of weight to lose, currently 12 and a half stone and 5ft 6 so think I will be on this level for a while, although I have been putting all my foods into my fitness pal and noticed that my calorie count with 20g of carbs is quite low at around 1100 cals so was thinking about having a few days a week with slightly more carbs so that I don't reduce my metabolism...not sure if anyone has a view on this?
As for having a microwave, we do have one in the kitchen in the canteen which means I have to give my food to the poe faced chef who grumbles that she is busy and takes 15 minutes to get round to doing it...sigh! I suggested to my husband installing a microwave in the boot of the car...however he thinks I am potty!
I am practicing lunches that I can have and today I made tuna, cauli, cheese, onion and egg fishcakes that were blooming scrumptious!0 -
Well done gloomendoom on your weight loss:T
I lost another 1lb this week which is pleasing as it is the second week of loss after a stall. Following this since June last year so I don't expect large weight loss but every little helps.
For breakfast I had half an avacado with a little St Agur Delice
Lunch - 1oz nuts, cold chicken & 2 slices of gouda
Must have lots of veg tonight
Dinner - vegetable curry with courgettes, carrot, cauliflower, onion, cabbage, red pepper and chicken added.0
