Thank you all for your encouragement. I know that it has to be this way for life and wish I had found out about it sooner as no other way of losing weight seems to have worked for me.
I do get a bit bored with the food sometimes but tend to eat slightly differently to some of you. For breakfast I had scrambled egg with 1 pumpkin & oat ryvita, lunch was 2 ryvita with cucumber and St Agur cheese and dinner beef with broccoli, cauliflower, carrot 1 tbsp and 1 small roast potato. I also had a low carb chocolate mousse, which I had made, with a tablespoon berries and cream. My GP has suggested that I keep off wheat, hence the Ryvita.
By my reckoning the Ryvita total 14 net carbs, potato 15, egg and cheese 3, mousse with berries 8 and veg 7. I stuck to 40 carbs yesterday but, generally, I lose weight on 50 carbs. Weigh day tomorrow so we will see but, if I don't lose any then I guess I'll have to go lower.
Do you all do this on your own? It is good to talk to people who understand and we can swop ideas and recipes. How long have you been doing this and how much weight have you lost?
I use this website and have subscribed to it as there are a lot of great recipes on it, all carb counted

I think most of us do it alone Shiela. I do (seem to do most stuff alone really lol). You're right: this little community we have here helps.
I must've started about a year ago. I lost a stone over a few months but put most of it back on over the Summer holidays
Didn't get 'back on the wagon' for about 3 months. Slowly losing again. Lost around 3/4 stone.
I don't mind it being slow really, since one of my worries is ending up with saggy/baggy skin. I'd rather look plump and alive than gaunt/withdrawn/'prune-ish'... So, whilst I'm still keeping up the exercise I feel I'm making progress.
I did okay Saturday but didn't update yesterday. Not going to do it now, especially since yesterday was a bit of a blow out, due mainly to too much wine consumption. We went out and had snow fun for about 2.5 hours which was nice (then had a rather lazy day thereafter). Will start afresh today0 -

Good luck!! It is difficult to stick to it all of the time but, when the weight loss is good, it makes it worth doing. Keep at it and have a great day!0 -
Hi Sheila,
I've lost and gained over the years on lc, cant seem to get past one and half stone loss (need to lose about four) which is why i'm very impressed with those here with big losses
My difficulty has always been going out to eat, once i go slightly off plan it's the slippery slope.
Got no excuse now as i very rarely go out for meals, just cant get motivated anymore, although i continue try
Some of us here bake our own lc bread and it's lower than ryvita, recipes on the link on page one.0 -
Have at long last achieved my target weight loss of 2 stone. :j
I actually achieved this a couple of days ago but I just really wanted to make sure the scales were not having a laugh at me and that it was for real.
It's taken me from start of October - and I feel so much better and lots more energy.
The last 4 lbs have been there since before Xmas and I couldn't shift them - so depserate measures were called for.
First I ditched the coffee for a week or so - no change - then as a last resort I ditched the wine for a week and hey presto it's gone!
b - porridge
l - soup
d - HM veggie burgers with turnip

I'm lucky because I am doing this with my wife so it is a lot easier as don't have to mess around preparing separate meals. It also means that there are less temptations in the house.
We have been doing it roughly three weeks and I have lost nearly a stone, my wife has lost about three pounds. However, it does require dedication, especially in the early stages. I slipped up on Saturday and went to a charity breakfast event. Unfortunately, I discovered that toast, baked beans and fried bread, just for one meal, are good way to stall the weight loss.
Overall, I am happy with my results though.0 -
Please someone come along and motivate me. Just got back from walking chops. Nice snowy walk. House is freezing as I've got the water on/heating up (it's either/or these days). Just munched a peperami whilst waiting for the kettle to boil for a pint of green tea/lemon.
My mind keeps trying to persuade me to make some toast.. Mmm... hot buttered toast... maybe with an egg or two, or a sausage 'butty'... fried egg sani.. just toast, with lashings of butter... mmmm....
Just ate a lump of chicken breast with a bit of mayo.. was so yummy that I think I'll have that for lunch, with lettuce, and maybe even a few cubes of cheese... Need to do exercises first, and won't be able to for an hour or two if I eat any more!!

Hi huys im back for more advice please after last weeks post on Monday saying I had stayed the same. This week ive gained a pound. Ive not cheated 20g or less a day of carbs. I do eat suger free sweeties maybe 3 a day and about 10 eggs a week. One thing I have noticed is that ive switched the brand of sweeteners that I take in my tea. I used to take the ones in the white dispender called sweetex and now take ones called Slimmer but both are Saccarin.
I dont beleive I am loosing inches either so I am at a total loss. Would it help if I posted my menu up for a few days for anyone to spot any problems with. Appologies for the bold type it must be a glitch.Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
