Decaf coffee is fine. It is the caffeine that blocks the weight loss.

@nuttybabe I thought artificial sweeteners were OK. Am I wrong?

sweetener can stall some people i believe. or some types can stall some people.

sofababe - i dont know about de-caf but i suppose if you think you can manage it, replace the coffee with water for a few days and see if that effects you. maybe writing down EVERYTHING you eat as then you might find some hidden carbs or something that someone else might pick up on that can stall you.

Home.. battled through snow and sleet to get here. My front number plate on the car was totally covered in a very thick layer of black snowy ice. I had to scrape it off to see my number plate.

Lunch at the meeting was mostly carby but I managed to get a load of chicken on skewers though I did eat one tiny wee little mini cottage pie!

Wine is in the fridge (white) and coffee is being drunk first. Will have some BNS soup shortly with roasted chicken for protein.

So a good day so far until I start on the wine - I have travelled 400 miles today and got up at 4.15a.m. so can persuade myself that I deserve it.

Sofababe - another thought. i read the first time i did low carb that nitrates can cause stalls in people. nitrates i believe can be found in processed meat and bacon. maybe you can check your bacon pack and see if they have any. if they have cut it out for a few days to see if it makes a difference.

    Hi

I have just discovered this thread thanks to narabanekeater

I have been low carbing since June 2011 and lost over 4 stone. My weight loss has slowed recently, unfortunately.

I have a cup of black coffee with Lidl's Dundalgan Irish Cream as my treat but cannot find out the carb content. Does anyone know please?

    Thanks

Is it a Baileys type thing? If so a 25ml shot is 7.4g carbs.

I've got a new pack in the fridge and yes it does have nitrates (as preservative). I won't open it yet, see what happens. Thanks for that info :)

    Hi
Yes it is but made with wine & whiskey and not so creamy or sweet.
Cream liquer in my carb book is 0 carbs and Baileys can be up to 12 depending on which site you look at.

I have had a stall since Christmas and so have cut down to 40 carbs from 50 for the past week to see if it helps. Some sites say to cut out tea and coffee and nitrates but I have 2 cups a day and will go mad in this weather just drinking water and Ribena. I have tried herbal and fruit teas but I can't find one that I like. Maybe I should also cut out my rasher of bacon each day also.

Lost 4 and a half stone but my GP wants me to lose another 2 and a half stone so I'll have to keep battling I guess.

I'd try not having the Liqueur for a few days and see if that helps? Are you on decaff tea and coffee, as you can see from an answer to me above caffeine can stall you. 40g carbs still seems high to me but that's cos I'm on Pig2Twig which recommends 20g a day. I stick to that give or take a gram and find it quite easy but I'm lucky that I don't have a sweet tooth.
