    Hi all!

Well done and welcome SHEILA54! :j

Interesting notes about the nirates in processed meat. I have relied quite heavily on bacon and ham so will drop them for a while to see.

Quite a bit of cooking to do today :A

Lamb and veg stew - 5-6 portions
Turkey ceylon curry over squashed cauli - 5-6 portions
    Mexican fudge
Maybe have a go at those egg custards :rotfl:

Up bright and early as fell asleep on couch and have had my 8 hours or more. Already set the dishwasher and tidied the kitchen in preparation

Hope you all have a lovely day!

Morning - slept well and slept late so feel refreshed and zingy! :j

Have been sat in front of the PC for an hour, had a decaff coffee and ate the remains of some marscapone cheese straight from the packet.

Fairly snowy outside but the roads are clear. Car has a hard frosty covering

Lunch - more BNS soup with chicken
Evening meal - pork ribs with stir fried veggies

No wine tonight - just water.

Mrs G has been baking again.

    Baked cheesecake...

    avj5g9.jpg
    Original recipe:
    http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/cheesecake/02.html

I did 2/3 of most quantities resulting in a smaller cheesecake. Except I then halved the splenda quantities. I didn't use any vanilla extract, only lemon.

Variation on the cakes she did before but with no coconut...

    Hi all

Well that's 5 lamb n veg (leek, celery, cauli, broc, carrot, green beans, turnip, shredded savoy cabbage) stews ready and cooling. I use the stalks of broc by peeling and chopping and adding to the mix quite early, I do this with the big veins in the cabbage too, saving the shredded leaves to add right at the end. Steam on top of stew for 5 mins then mix in. Keeps green and doesn't go past it's best. I also add a few sunflower seeds early as they go quite soft but not mushy and taste nice. The meat is a frozen 1lb bag of lamb and mutton mix at £2.50.

Ceylon turkey curry simmering away. Turkey thigh is accompanied by leek (both finely chopped and in rings), green beans and broccoli. Yum! Tesco man has just delivered the frozen cauli for squashing so all going according to plan. Will get at least 6 meals out of this curry combo so well pleased.

Will be using the oven for mexican fudge so must concentrate and use the heat for egg custards too. Moneysaving in all things :rotfl:

Still very white around here but I think there's a mild melt going on - still not going out :rotfl:

In the spirit of adventure I bought a bag of frozen spinach.

    Any recipe ideas?

On hols at my friend's she made a creamed spinach glop which was lovey. Will try to get the recipe.

Wonder if it would go well in my green smoothies?

Am quite looking forward to the 'krypton factor-esque' events of later where I try to get all to fit in my very small freezer :rotfl:

I've been up for 7hours so you will have to forgive me a small glass of (red:)) wine. It is, afterall, the weekend.

    Big love

Hi there, I too discovered this thread thanks to narabanekeater, who popped into the Low carb bargains thread in Groceries and Shopping

I've been low carbing since 2007 for health reasons and when I'm really strict with myself and take meds too I can achieve normal blood sugar.

Do please feel free to wander over and tell us about bargains especially on things which you use to create the yummy looking cheesecake !

Sheila - Well done. Keep up the good work.

I have discovered the one minute muffin.:D (Sorry haven't a clue how to do links). I have tried a sweet one yesterday, and a savoury today. Not quite like bread, but very easy. Must make sure I don't use them too often though as I don't usually miss bread or cakes too much while lc-ing, so shouldn't "need" them.....
I haven't weighed myself, so no idea how I'm doing, but haven't eaten any carp, so I am hopeful.
