I thought the programme was very disappointing. There is lots of evidence about low carb eating which she didn't mention at all and it's very tedious to see the "calories in/calories out" theory still being promoted. The body is a dynamic system which is constantly adjusting itself - not a machine that operates in only one way.
Have a look back at some of Ted's references, particularly Gary Taubes' lecture - http://video.google.co.uk/videosearch?q=taubes&hl=en&emb=0&aq=f#0 -
Well day three is almost over for me and my sickness and loo dashing has vanished (woohoo)0

Humph, as soon as my back is turned this thread goes mad, three, or is it four? pages in one day..
Glad to see spirits are higher :j
Started back properly yesterday as i did some cooking and it makes such a difference, was lovely coming home to moussaka and salad, and have got a muffin with a cuppa now.. mmmm
Wish i could get those davinci syrups from a shop as delivery is expensive from LC megastore, bet they are a real treat with those pancakes, i must get some
I've been putting my smear off for eight years, and am on yearly recall, so made the effort a couple of weeks ago and was not as bad as i thought it would be, alias wear a long skirt that can be hoiked up to hide your fat bits and cover (most of) your modesty, thats what i did and was ok, a real weight off my mind that its done, but.. the only available nurse was a friend of mine.. double
Ah well, as she said, she's seen half the towns :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Why does this talk of smear tests make me want to cross my legs?! :rotfl:
Good to see you mazzers - where have you been hiding today??
I'm definitely going to meal-plan next week (yes, I'll send you the list alias  ) as I think it will help keep me motivated & hopefully keep an eye on the spending as well. I know it's been said before but I think I do spend more on low-carb foods, especially as I don't want the family eating all the stuff that's good for me but not good for them if they're still eating bread, pasta, rice, spuds etc, so I'm buying different things for them. Phew, did that just make sense?!
pilly, I lost 4lbs last week & lost the plot not long afterBUT I'm gonna be good from Monday - if I don't I'll have alias to answer to
Have started reading the IPD book & I really like it so far. I've laughed at it but it's also made my eyes a bit watery at times as I recognise myself in themDefinitely worth a read if you are a big girl like me!! Oh, & voluptuous is just another word for fat apparently - I described myself as a voluptous size 18 earlier in this thread so that's me told!! :rotfl:

Why am I not supposed to have alcohol on Atkins induction phase?
Only its sort of a timeless tradtion in my house to have a booze up on a Saturday night........so ive had a vodka and 'zero coke'....better go to bed before I drink myself silly and ruin it.0 -

Its not just on induction, its best to avoid alcohol altogether
If this is as impossible for you as it is for me then you can have the odd tipple but you will lose at a slower pace because the body will burn the alcohol as fuel first, then carbs, then fat. So the more you drink, the less you lose.0 -
Good morning all
Another day, another lb on
Methinks I need to get that IPD book finished pronto0 -
Lol sweet, I just haven't weighed. I suspect I'm 7 - 8 lbs on by now.Herman - MP for all!0
