and also, is there anyway to replicate the nacho element for chilli? I love chilli nachos, and im assuming the home made guacamole, salsa and sour cream would be carb friendly.
Fell off the wagon a bit tonight with my daughters dad giving me grief, had a few orange aero balls and a handful of skittles. Not the end of the world!0 -
Yesterday good, until I had a few G&Ts, but even then only a little blip:
B: frankies
L: p/cocktail
T: Stir fry: reduced pork mince, cabbage, mushrooms, courgette ribbons, beansprouts, chilli, seasoning. Had a large portion.
O: Couple cups of T, cuppa coffee, ~ 4 pints water, several gins with low cal tonic, handful of peanuts, fruit bread crust with butter!
The bottle thing didn't work very well: drank a litre and about half of the other, then caved and bought gin: OH got something wrong with his leg and was in pain, and I was super grumpy (naughty children). Also it was Friday.. any excuse <rollseyes>.
Exercise: ~25 mins Just Dance 2 (extra songs), ~42 mins Yoga.
The Senna did the trick: just benefited from taking itFeel like skipping round the house
Quite pleased really, since me and OH had a.. well.. it wasn't really a row.. I picked the boys up from school, waited for one to finish a club, picked up OH who was moaning he could hardly walk, talked him into going to Dr., took him, waited with boys being naughty in waiting room, took him to Chemist, waited: boys being naughty in car.. I got in a baad mood, drove like a bit of a nutter, OH responded with an angry outburst when we got home.... I sent boys to their room whilst I made tea, then things magically calmed down, which is unusual... Not long ago I would have gone in the kitchen and made a right piggy of myself, but last night was like I just didn't want to...
Sorry for rambling. Just gets on top of me sometimes; the feeling that someone's pulling in the other direction all the time..... Karma I guess.
Anyway, today's a new day, so let's grab it by the horns!0 -
Interesting thread. Is it just for ladies?
I ask because I'm not a lady but have started a low carb weight loss diet a week ago. Whenever I felt the need to lose a few pounds in the past, I have just used the "eat less, do more" diet but it is slow, very slow, so I thought I'd try something radical (for me) this time as I need to shift a couple of stone.0 -

Welcome to our happy place
Not just for ladies, there's at least 1 bloke who posts regularly DEBTMONKEY, and I bet there are others.
Which plan are you on?
I follow Dr Dahlqvist, think there's a link on page 1. Basically just removing most of the high carbs like sugar, spuds, bread and rice etc. Lots of information on page one, give it a look
Hope you like it here!

I bought a book called "The new high protein diet" (based on its price and Amazon reviews) and I'm more or less following that... although I haven't managed to stop drinking beer.
Despite that, initial results look good (don't they always.) I started at 16st 1.6lbs and am currently at 15st 8.8lbs so the weight loss is nearly half a stone in a week. Quite how much of that is actually fat remains to be seen.0 -
Cheese crisp is just a handful of grated cheddar cheese spread out on a baking tray then shake a little Parmesan into any gaps. Put in the oven for a few moments until all melted and just starting to harden around the edge.
I then mould this into burritos baskets or snap into crisps to go with dips etc. It works great as the bun for burgers and things.
Well done hannoja for not killing your OH & not cheating either:j
Hi Gloomendoomcongratulations on your weight loss.:T My OH weight loss was just as quick and continued afterwards at an average 3lb a week until he hit goal weight.
I'm taking a day off today so I am going to get plenty of snacks/meals prepared for next week. I've just put chicken carcasses in the slow cooker with herbs etc to make stock for our gravy & sauces/soups.
Hope everyone has a good weekend xLife is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
Hi Gloomendoom! A fellow chap here...I just restrict carbs to 20-25 a day-I DO include berries, low carb veg, etc. No calorie counting at all-& I do have the odd vodka or 3 on a regualr basis (!). I need to lose 3 tone-lost 3 1/2 kg approx straight away....then nothing...then slight increase (read my old posts) & now a steady daily decrease....0.2 TO 0.7 KG A DAY! Gloomendoom...2-5 wks in you may have a 'stall' or v.slight increase...IT WILL COME OFF! (read my earlier posts). Do you work out? I've started back at the gym & it seemed to help my stall too-plus EIGHT pints water a day strangely helps flush water out(!). If you are a member of a gym do get your body fat analysed (if they have a body fat scale)-if you read my earlier posts you'll see ir re-motivated me as I knew FAT was being burned & at the time my excess weight was water...! Welcome!
P.S.-Now down to 86.2 kgs...9 pounds of weight gone!0 -
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm not exactly sure what my carb intake is. The book suggests 40-60 in the initial weight loss stage. I suspect that I have been way under that in the first week. As I said, my weakness is beer although I reckon that I can still imbibe once or twice a week if I compensate elsewhere.
I must admit that I am not a fan of drinking loads of water although I do drink lots of tea which is encouraged by the book I am following.
Exercise wise, I'm not a member of a gym (I live a bit out in the sticks) but I do have a fairly good selection of home gym equipment. At the moment I'm using the rowing machine but I plan to get back into the weights.
My wife has one of those calliper fat measurers, I might get her to try it on me... if it opens wide enough.0 -

Rather irritating, most men lose weight very easily when they switch to LC!0 -
