morning , another low carb day ahead and thinking of ideas as usual. I might have a go in the kitchen today making something sweet. Any ideas ?
I am going to the co op soon , to look for more low carb bargains cos it can be an expensive diet. Only problem is when I was there yesturday I nearly passed out in the queue,, I have problems in this area and doctor has given me steroid tablets - to up my blood pressure - and said "YOU MAY GAIN WEIGHT". So I have not taken any yet , I cant bring myself to take them, yet dont want to keep fainting everywhere. Whats a girl to do?
egg mayo & bacon wrap for brekkie
sausages for lunch
sheppards pie for dinner with cauli mash topping
snacks : something sweet ?Kindness costs nothing0 -
Thanks guys for all your ideas. Had tinned tomatoes and some cooked beef today. Odd for breakfast but quite nice!0

Hi! I have been low carbing since New Years day and doing well! I have lost 9lbs already!I love the food although it is hard to find variety. (The only meat I eat is chicken) This thread has given me some fab ideas! I am a bit confused though at the carb content in cauliflower. I have been using lots of it and always have some prepped in the fridge to use as mash, rice etc. Its lovely. But when I checked the carb content it was 45 carbs for a large head. I could probably use a large head in 3 sittings mashed up so it seems quite high for lc? Or do you use it sparingly?0

Hi all
I have been low carbing for about 5 weeks (not including 2 weeks or so over xmas!). Found it a fine diet to follow and lost about 10 pounds - most of that in the first 2/3 weeks though! Back on it now and ready to carry on loosing weight.
The only problem I find is breakfast. I am not a big egg fan, don't mind having them once or twice a week but would like some ideas for some other breakfasts. Pre-low carbing I would have had toast or porridge or muesli. Any ideas?
Thanks
Welcome! Why not try the bread recipe (a doddle-especially if you have a grinder) I posted a few days back? Hardly any carbs a slice (whole loaf is 9 carbs approx)-keeps very well in foil in fridge (up to a week)...doesn't toast well though. Have it with cheese , peanut butter (no sugar if you can find it), theres even an aldi 75% fruit jam thats 48 carbs/100gm so a couple of teaspoons would be 5g? Or...ALDI full fat (1.5kg) yoghurt-2.8 carbs/100g. Top with frozen sainsbury berries (5.4 gms only for 100g) & splenda. Or-ONE slice of burgen soy/linseed bread (10.9carbs a slice-I keep as a back up in freezer) with cheese etc.
I probably need to double check this but again ONE weetabix (check carbs on box) with single cream diluted.
If you like cooking & have a sweet tooth there are loads of muffin ideas, etc.
When I 'dabbled' with low carb a year ago it was the breakfasts & quick snacks/lite lunches that caused me to stop. The bread recipe is a real godsend. I'm doing it again this am-this time 1/2 almonds/flax. You could even make it with frozen beries/splena as a low carb malt loaf type of thing!
Hope this helps...x0 -

My new 'tool' to get me back on the low carb bandwagon arrived today.....my new shiny George Foreman grill and griddle. I got a super bargain off Amazon getting it at £35. The next day I was going to post about it on grab it whie you can, went to double check it....and it had gone back up to £59.99 !!!!!! So I was lucky. Last time I looked it was on sale at £54.99
If anyone has any recipes like burgers, kebabs etc please let me know.
Morning! If you have any asian shops near you grab the seek kebab packs (80pence-2 big foil sachets)-no carbs in them. Simply add to meat with chopped onion-absolutely the best thing you'll taste! In fact I've seen asian ladies take peeled onions, bunch coriander to meat section the the asian shops-they'll grind it all together for you with the spices through the meat grinder!0 -
ooooo have been looking for a thread like this i started no carbing on new years day and have lost 6lb!0

Just watch the carbs in the tinned tomatoes - check the label, you might be surprised to see how much carb they contain! They are ok used very sparingly with a cooked brekkie.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
Morning everyone - and a welcome to those new to the board.
Been out early this morning to have a hair cut and a little shop. Only got some reduced double cream and a wedge of Jarlsberg as I'm going away on Monday until Friday for work.
Breakfast was bacon and egg.
Lunch will probably be carrot and coriander soup with a kabanos chopped through it.
Evening - not sure yet but will rummage in the freezer which is packed with meat and I've got veggies in the fridge.
Am going to try to be a bit more controlled about my water intake - one glass every hour and on the hour. It's the one thing I tend to forget/neglect.
As for the almonds PP - I have to buy small snacks packs of them as, if I buy the mega-size packets I can munch my way through the whole lot in two days.:mad: If I haven't got any in the house I don't want to eat but I can hear packets of stuff calling to me!!
I find the 10% yoghurt really yummy and it aids digestion and transition too!
Right, got some work to do, been putting it off since before Christmas so need to crack on with it.
Hope everyone as a great day.0 -

I think we need to get out of the breakfast, lunch and dinner type meal thoughts. Just cos its 'breakfast' doesn't mean we have to eat 'cereal' type stuff. Your 'odd' breakfast sounds good to me :j0
