Morning Peeps
back to the grind todayI just don`t feel like w*rk at all but thankfully i`ve got most of my errands out of the way.
Woke early yesterday and was at the supermarket just as it opened so the shop didn`t take too long, came home and picked Dad up and took him to the other supermarket and then nipped off to the pet shop too so all was done by 1pm
Had a bad cheat day yesterday so i won`t post what i ate, spent the rest of the day delivering prezzies so i only have two more deliveries to do now but they are local so i`ll get those sorted in the next couple of days.
Brekkie today will be cheese on lc toast, dinner is roast beef and extra hot horseradish sauce on a sandwich and tea will be tuna steaks marinated in soy sauce with leeks, sprouts, swede and maybe a drop of gravy - won`t be a lc gravy so i`ll only have a tiny bit.
Welcome to Phil :hello:
I`ve got all the ingredients for Mazzers lc lasagne in now so i`ll be making that over the next couple of days when i have the time. My latest order of the Vital wheat gluten has arrived too so more bread baking for me - i`ve almost run out of the last order so i was a bit worried that the new one wouldn`t arrive before Christmas:eek:
Debtmonkey - Twas moi who used arrowroot to thicken gravy/sauce etc Sweet has a good memoryIts not as good as cornflour but does the job well enough. The thing is not to cook it too much after adding it or the sauce goes back thin again.
I`m off back into the kitchen now that i`ve finished cooking, must remember to get some bits out of the freezer or we won`t be eating much tomorrow
Have good lc days peeps :santa2:

Aft'noon all.. tea break, although. i dont feel very workish
Debtmonkey, lactofree milkalthough soya milk and even soya yogurt is lovely (if you cant get to Lidl)
Personally i'm a bit unsure about eating soya regularly, but occasionally i do.
Working from tomorrow til 6pm xmas eve so i'd better get back to it.0 -

debtmonkey, there are lots of recipes involving ground flax and chia seeds, apparently ground flax, water and egg is good?! I've even read that pork scratchings with sweetener and cream are like cereal! Unsweetened soy milk is extremely low carb, esp supermarket own varieties.
I made LC bread last night while the oven was on for duck roast (YUM!!!!) and it's quite nice but doens't agree with me at allMaybe the reason carbs made me bloat so much is to do with gluten? I'm gutted but I hate this bloated feeling, I ate at 7am and still feel awful.
Whilst googling reactions to gluten or soy flour I found this which may help some people looking for another protein form or something like tofu "I mix vital wheat flour with almost as much water. After kneading it, it becomes a rubber ball. Slice the ball into discs. Drop the discs into some gently boiling water. They will sink. When they float, they are done."Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Evening
Been so busy at work today, I never got time to eat. I also ran out late this morning so didn't have brekkie. I wouldn't care I'd done some boiled eggs as well.:o I'll have to have a snack later, a good excuse to have 2 devilled eggs followed by some biltong:p
Last day off before Christmas tomorrow & I have soo much to do. Still haven't made the lc stuffing or 1 of the hc ones. Still have presents to wrap also.
Adelight, I'm the same with carb laiden food, I feel fat & bloated for hours after eating, even if it is just a ryvita:eek:
Mazzers, your neighbours sound awful. Have you spoke to them about it?
Debtmonkey, I don't eat oats but as a substitute for breakfast cereal I have been having 25g of mixed roasted seeds with a touch of cream.
I got the seeds for 99p I think it was at B&M. They are a mix of sunflower, pumpkin, sesame, hemp & linseed seeds with roasted & salted soya beans. Carbs for the 25gs are 1.5g. Good fibre content of 2.8g per serving also. They are very nice.:)Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
Thought I'd better pop in and say "Hi", since I've been just lurking of late :hello:
Don't think I've said hi Debtmonkey, so "Hi"
You sound like a very motivated person, so I'm sure you'll lose what you want to in good time. I bet some of us will still be here in months to come and you will have left the thread, having achieved your goal
Oh, I think the link that PP was talking about is here, but I'm sure you've found it, made it and eaten it by now. Hehe.
Hi too Phil
I agree with Debtmonkey's advice about starting on New Year's Day. If you plan on that, you can psyche yourself up for it, and plan, or at least have a good idea, of what/how you're going to eat come the time
Hi AndrewsMum too, if you're still here
So sorry for your losses Sunny and Sweet. Yes indeed; far too young to leave this world. Perhaps they're having a ball on 'the other side' though :A
Sorry about your neighbours Mazzers. They sound like a right bunch of chavs.!I hope they don't spoil your Christmas!
My lcing isn't going so well atm. I tried to blame OH for taking the car, but I know it's not his fault. I could have managed on cheese and nuts till he got home, then gone out and done the shopping (needed to do big shop really). I had planned on lcing this week then I would feel like I'd deserved the right to be a piggy over Christmas. No matter, I'm not going to let it get me down. If I undo my good work so far - eating-wise, it only took me about a week to lose about half a stone, so I can be back to where I was a few days ago by mid-Jan. no trouble... in theory...
What I'm focusing on is that I've kept up my exercise, with the help of my lovely, little, 'ear-bashed' boy.
I took about 6 months to lose a stone before, then undid it all over the Summer holidays: had nowhere to go and be alone to do exercise, and my boys didn't want to do it with me, or it just didn't go well when we did.. The eating went out of the window too, with making them sandwiches for lunch, etc.. excuses excuses... <groan>
This time, I was determined to keep up my 'regime' (lol, can you call 1 hour's not-too-strenuous exercise each weekday a regime..? ) The youngest (6) doesn't want to know, but my eldest (9) has been doing it with me every day so far! We do about 10-20 minutes aerobic exercise, then 20-40 minutes Yoga. Plus walking the dog each day for an hour. So although the pace is 'lighter' than I usually do, or the exercise doesn't last quite as long, I'm chuffed that I'm keeping it going.
Yesterday we did 18 mins. Zumba from Youtube, followed by some Yoga from DvDs. They joined me for 'YogaBugs' which is aimed at children, then sat out for a further 20 mins. I did. So, best part of an hour. Pretty pleased with that. Little one even joined in for some of it which was good
Anyway, I keep thinking of things to add, so I'm going to go before I do that again and risk making this post so long that no-one will want to read it.
Have a good day folks, whether you're lcing or not (I hope to for today and tomorrow), and have a great Christmas if I don't post again for a while...0 -
pink princess i think LC will be a change for life for me too, after the bread attack i am dreading xmas dinner and how bloated i'm going to be over the holidays! i'm taking the rest of the bread to a girl at work who is on the dukan diet. mazzers thank you, i know the gluten bread isn't for me
I'm going to make some dukan porridge for brekkie, 2tbs oatbran in the micro. Just want a little something, will have some fish at work later. Today is my last day of work, I go home this time tomorrow and I can't wait! I just want to relax!! I've packed hair mask, face masks, lush bubble bar(going home to a SOFT WATER AREA WOOOOO!!!) and will get some epsom salts today to help with post-xmas pud bloat. Me and OH are looking to book a last minute break over new year if possible, means no sale shopping but what's the point in buying clothes if I'm going to slim out of them anyway?Happy LC day everyone!

Morning Peeps
Hannoja - Nice to hear from you! I wondered where you were.
I wasn't going to post this morning after yesterdays disaster but hey ho!
I was good most of the day but when i got to w*rk the two tins of QS on my desk seemed to take overToday at w*rk there will be a curry afternoon and lots and lots of goodies will be brought in for everyone to eat and i know that i won`t be able to trust myself
I`ll be taking my lc beef and chorizo stew in the vain hope that i behave but i know that by the time that i get there my willpower will have disappeared.
I`ll just start again after Christmas now i think, i won`t be going near the scales for a while :rotfl:
Have a good Christmas everyone :santa2:

Evening everyone
What a day but I am now ready for christmas & I can start to feel chilled out & festive.
Breakfast was a fried breakfast in BHS at Metrocentre.(The staff offered toast 3 times)
Lunch was a boiled egg & biltong.
Dinner ended up being garlic chicken as when I went grocery shopping there was a chicken reduced to £2.
I smothered it in garlic puree & crushed garlic, with a touch of chicken stock & a diced onion, pinch of parsley. Roasted it in the oven. Then I reduced the cooking juices, added a handful of grated cheese & touch of cream in. Served with cauliflower. The sauce was amazing & I will have to try it again.
I'm cheating tonight by having a couple of vodkas but I think I deserve them after the marathon shop, wrap, cook athon I have done today.:p
Where is everyone today? I'm guessing you are all busy as well.
I'm dreading what will happen when I step on the scales on the 27th:cool: I've only ever went over the 20g carbs a day once (had an indians:o) and the result was a HUGE gain. I need to just not think about it & enjoy myself.
Hannoja, hi you should pop in more.:)
Adelight, what will the Epsom salts do please?Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
Good morning! Ok...not weighing myself until tomorrow am. My gut feeling is it will be around the same...but IF it is I'm not fussed as 3kg in 14 days is still very good! I think the vodka (ok ok...I'm not really an alkie but people coming over, xmas etc....!!!!) is stalling things somewhat-although I do feel much thinner.
Does anyone know if reduced carb eating has a positive effect on mental health??? I feel very very positive (this is from someone who verges on mild depression on occaision!) & have loads of energy (now my knee issue is cleared up I must get to the gym! ).
Pink princess-is 20 carbs a day definately the max you can have? Only reason I ask is that on some articles online I've seen that 50gms or less a day caused ketosis? I also read the weight gain is just water-as it's your glycogen re-filling-so if it was say 4 pounds its just water coming back not fat?
I've not cheated as such...but in my 1st 4-5 days (aiming at 20gm-ish a day initially) I was probably on 30-33 (got net carbs/fibre wrong)...also 4 days ago had some lovely spiced lamb (iranian-flavoured with somak or something like that...powdered lime/pomegranit & chilli-YUM!) & due to languagr barrier they bought out TWO huge lovely looking fresh naan type of things (!)...had a couple of mouthfulls but guess as combined with meat & fact my carb count was low it made no odds...howver last night I scoffed just over 1/2 pack peanuts with some honey glaze?? Not TOO bad as 1/2 pack 18.5gms...so guess overall carbs 40-45 yesterday.
BREAD RECIPE
This is nice-sorta like a cornbread but has that 'risen' feel that you don't get with flax bread.
Copied from Atkins Quick & Easy Diet Cookbook...modified to 1 loaf though!
18.5gm net carbs per loaf (I'm doubling it next time to make a bigger loaf).
45gm Soya flour
15gm ground sesame seed (recipe said 25 but I only had 15-so added 10gm almond to make it up).
10gm ground almond
3 aldi medium free range eggs
1/2-3/4 tsp salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 tbsp single cream (recipe said soured)
25 gm melted butter.
10 gms almonds-ground
Mixed dry ingredients thoroughly (probably wouldv'e been more mixed if I put baking powder with eggs?!). Add liquid ingredients/butter. beat for 2-3 mins (food processor would do this in 30 secs!).
Pured into a greased silicone malt loafish size mould (£1 from pound shop!).
Bake at 180 ish for 30-40 mins until top slightly browned & scewer comes out clean.
LOVELY!!! Like cornbread-thought they'd be a terrible strong taste of soya-there wasn't. May try next time with 1/2 soya replaced by ground almonds-or possibly 1/2 soya, 1/2 almons, 1/2 flax (even lower carb!).
Also it does toast (need to press toaster down a couple of times though on lowish setting-takes longer than normal bread).
Had Jerk pork last night...the 'wet' Jerk-not the crap powder! 1/2 teaspoon on each side of a big pork chop-grilled-yum-served with sprouts & butter!
Ketostix.....constantly just over middle purple...even in the am after some drinks!
Funny how I never suffered with 'carb flu' , feeling bad etc? I really feel my body is made for this type of diet!!
Do not crave sweet stuff at all! As long as I get my bowl of berries & full fat greek yoghurt + splenda-that satisfies me.Have a good day all!0
