• Hi all!

Well...weight loss same (+ 0.8kg ish) but still 3 kgs odd less than 11 days ago! Had friends here & AGAIN too much good old vodka (chilli flavoured!). Also had some of that virtualy low-carb flax bread-nice-bit like a cake-v.good for you but I swear theres still some in my tummy from yesterday (I know its fibrous & soaks up water) after my morning habit (!).

Routed out the old atkins new diet revolution. Agree whole heartedly with the concept of low carbing but not over keen on some of his methods. I can't beleive how carb counts vary-net carbs in back of book do vary from others I've seen!

One thing I'll stop doing....daily weighing. As stated in book...not a good idea. We can all fluctuate by a pound or 2.

Off to tesco this am to order some Irwins bread (was it beanrua who mentioned this-thanks a lot for this)-6 carbs a slice!

Main thing is i can get into smaller jeans!

Can't wait for all my gluten flour etc to arrive to experiment.

Anyone know of a low carb thickener that could replace cornflour in a recipe?
• Guys-I live in Huddersfield (well a village just a few miles out). Asian shop in Thornton Lodge sells 400 gm linseeds-NINETY NINE PENCE!

Holland & barrett-triple & then some.....also huge bags almonds...full fat milk powder (for some bread recipes). So....off to the Asian shops-much cheaper! Also-HUGE bunches coriander-3 for 311-chop finely & freeze....xxxx

sweet - did you ever get injections into your shoulder for the pain? It's awful to have pain that stops you from sleeping - wishing you a painfree day.:)
Need to tidy house to-day - sons/daughters/and their partners arriving Wed - Great - and at least I've all the in-laws things done and dusted - no need to see them til the next family summons!! I even ate 2 vol-au-vents to please them.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
sunnyday do you get a few days off over Xmas?
debtmonkey - chili flavoured vodka????
btw let me know what tesco said about Irwins bread - if they don't order - ring Irwins for advice and they'll be happy to try and sort it. Sainsbury's is now doing it here as well and I've asked my wee local shop if they can get it. Have you found the carb counter on the Atkins site yet - i think it's handy for planning shopping. Will def check linseed in Asian shop and milk powder.
b porridge and soy milk
l bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms and 2 slices toast
d soup and ?????
Have turkey ordered and just got to finish off my grocery order for delivery on Wed. catch up later

I grow my own chillis...moderate success as in the grim north it ain't too warm & my windows are north facing! Cayenne has produced the best so far....

Cut a chilli in 1/2 lengthways (I used one haberno-super hot but fruity!)...leave in bottle for 1-2 months-shake every week. i like it dry-but friends liked my other version (milder-cayenne pepper) with 4 tsps slenda in bottle...!! Can do it with lemon too...finely peeled lemon zest-same story!

beanrua-what is your porridge recipe & how many carbs?

Yup-seen carb counter on Atkins. I also have collins gem-which seems on some things WAY OUT! I'm using the uk low carbs one.

I get this with flax. I made the flax bread with a 70/30 ratio (flax 30%) and it felt like I had a brick in my stomach for two days - even with drinking loads!!

I tried it again to make sure it was def the flax, this time with a 15% ratio and it was still the same. Apart from using it as a breadcrumb substitute I'm done with the stuff!
• What recipe do you use, murphydog? Think I'll stick to one thin slice a day. Good for you after all....(!)

beanrua it certainly sounds like jealousy to me, just rise above it , to go from an 18 to a 10 OMG thats fantastic :T

i must get to ordering the gluten stuff to make the bread , the thing is i just dont seem to have the time , im either working ( like now:o) or piggin cleaning up after people at home.

at work till 6 today , dont generally get a lunch break ( am supposed to get half an hour but i never get it ) and im kn@ckered when i get in .

brekkie 2 eggs with 2 rashers of bacon
lunch ham sandwich ( normal bread :o) and a yoghurt
not sure whats for tea yet
• Hi. Called tesco cust. svces who said 'yes-you can order anything-just go to customer service desk'. Did this today-intial response was 'I'll have to call the duty manager-it's at his discretion' which was duly done. So...should be ready to collect 28/12-& apparently they may trial it to sell it! Made up....!! So...a 12 carb sandwich if in a super hurry can be made!

Will still try & make some lovely low-carb bread though....

Bought some Ketostix-I'm 'third one in' so some ketones in the urine...& NO GLUCOSE IN BLOOD! Phew-was flapping about having diabetes (!):j

re porridge I buy the real cheap version - big bag for about £1.40ish. I just make it with water - two small cups porridge : 3 ish cups water for two people. I have never taken sugar with my porridge - we were too poor for that:rotfl: - probably more gruel than porridge but I'm lucky that I like it that way - sets me up for the morning and if you make it the night before you can get double the amount as you have to add water again in the morning. somtimes I throw linseed or sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds or oatbran on top. Whiskey is lovely on it as a special treat. Don't know about carbs and I've thrown out packaging as I keep it in a big jar.
Walked to shop to get 7 seeded bread and none on shelf - in next aisle I met my 2 sil's who each had 3 of 'my' loaves in their baskets. Vindicated or what!! Enough said!!!!!!:p
My local shop is letting me know to-morrow if they can stock it so that will be great.
Well done debtmonkey let us know what you think of it.
sistercas it's not fair that you can't get your break at work.
