• Hi, long timer lurker and low carber here :) been reading this thread and its predecessor and picked up so many hints and tips from Ted, Mercy, Shykins, and many others (some no longer posting here sadly) so thanks to all. Feeling quite pleased with myself today as I set myself a challenge to lose 2 stone before Christmas from the time I came back from holiday on 19 September, and I achieved it today :)

However, a works do on Saturday and another posh do in London Tuesday followed by Xmas may undo a little of that!
Let's get ready to bumble! :rotfl:

PSYLLIUM HUSKS...

You feel like you've had colonic irrigation.. cant recommend them enough, fantastic feeling.

I tried the pork scratching as a coating but thought it was pretty minging! I bet sweets idea of crushed GG would be good.

Sweet i wondered why the 'mushroom' was there too, it def wasn't when i posted, glad you cleared it up for me tho as i was puzzled ;)

That comment encouraged me to buy some :D You weren't kidding about the huge container were you Maz... :eek: I had the recommended amount an hour or so ago: approx. 2 tsp. in 350ml water. Well... it was kinda like drinking dirty water to start with. Didn't really have any flavour or anything, so didn't mind it too much... However... I went off to do soemthing before I'd finished it...... When I came back, it had turned to a strange gloopy, gel-like substance... which I found very difficult to drink _pale_ - though I did (wanna check out that 'colonic irrigation' feeling :rotfl: )

I'm wondering how I'm going to get through the hooooooooooge container of it now... What on Earth do you do with it... :question:
• Congratulations on the 2 stone off smee :T

murphy, I haven't tried the flax crackers, there's a microwave version on Mercy's recipe thread that shykins posted ages ago, hopefully this link works http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=17392595&highlight=bread+recipe#post17392595

Ah, i did the same thing, couldn't suck it through the straw :eek:

I now use a level tsp (more than enough) and drink straight away, it does settle a bit so keep swirling the glass or use a straw. Results the next day :D

Drink it with squash or a lc shake, i think it's fine in a shake but imagine it woudn't be very nice in just water.

Not taken mine for a few days :naughty: took yesterday and was so 'light' this morning i almost floated away!

Hafternoon Peeps :wave::wave:

12 days off now :D:D:beer::beer::j:j woohoosmiley-1.gif

I`m tired but feel much better than yesterday - ta for all your encouragement everyone, it really helps :A

Well i`ve not had a bad day really, almost back on the wagon with sausages and scramblies with mushrooms for brekkie, corned beef and cheese for a snack and a ham sandwich for dinner. The only naughty thing i`ve eaten has been an M&S caramel square thingy that was bought by one of the girlies at w*rk, it was just over 16g carbs:eek: but i only had the one :D

For tea i`ll probably have some cooked meat with horseradish and gherkins so not a bad day really. My Christmas and NY will be a bit weird this year as i`m at w*rk so i plan on celebrating whilst i`m off so the nice cherished bottle of voddie will disappear sometime over the next few days i think but i`m not planning to have any days off lcing until Christmas day itself.

Got weighed this morning and i`ve put 3lb on:eek: I`ll not tell what i had for tea but thought that as i`ve had a day off i might as well go the whole hog and then draw a line under it:D As i`m off for a bit now there will be no temptations when everyone brings all the nibbles into w*rk which can only be a good thing as i turn into a little piggie when this happens and i`ll probably undo all the good work lol

Smeeinnit - Congrats on the 2 stone :beer: Fabby news, i was hoping for two but i`ll be more than happy to manage it towards the end of January.

Sweet - Hope that your shoulder is easing off now, good excuse not to carry any shopping though - get hubs to do it all :D

adeleight - :eek::eek:7litres:eek::eek:

Mazzers - The bread is enough for me atm, don`t need the husks:p Its quite a life saver really as its solved two problems in one.

The weather here is minging, terrible winds and quite cold but not as cold as it was yesterday, its almost dark outside and i think that i`m going to close the curtains to block the evilness out and keep the heat in, even the cat had decided to stay in and thats a first for her!

Wrap up and keep warm and comfy peeps, happy lcing :wave:

wow congrats smeeinnit!!! and well done beanrua so close!
murphy, i've made them without the cheese and thought they were really nice for spreading with pate or cheese. Apparently they're much nicer with the cheese though! you can do them in the microwave too just less crisp.

sunnyday it could be worse, you'll be back on track tomorrow anyway. i really don't want to weigh myself tomorrow! i don't think i've changed :(

I did some shopping at Lidl today and looked at their ryvita type things but they don't say on the packet how much fiber is in them so didn't get any. Did get lots of good stuff like salad, minced beef and goats cheese and..... 80% choc, pork scratchings and a big wheel of brie :D They have some delicious sounding cinnamon and almond flavour cappuccino powders in but they are too high carb at 12g a cup grrr.

smeeinnit :T well done
sunny i have gained a pound overnight must be the chinese :o

I have found some wholegrain rice crackers in holl@and and b@rr@t that are 2.9g carbs per slice and are really nice they are made by kallo. i have tried the GG ones but they are too cardboardy for me .

i am going to have a go at a LC bread recipe. I bought some coconut flour a while a go but never used it , has anyone made bread with it? I think i might try it this weekend and if its carp i'll try sunnys recipe instead

Thanks a lot for that link. On the same page was a microwave instant bread recipe, which as I'd just made some liver pate, and didn't fancy the celery option, I made within 10 minutes.

Was surprised to find it worked so well, although it was better toasted. Because it was cake-like I've just had some with berries and cream and it worked equally as well. Bonus!

PS I'd probably add some flax seed next time as it would make less sweet.
