Hiya HanSpan :hello: long time no see, will try not to stand down-wind of you :p
Hi Sweets. Been lurking quietly in the corner.
Re the weather - we shall see......

When I made the microwaved swede it was just like a baked potato when it came out - the skin was a bit oozy & gooey where I'd pr1cked it with a knife before cooking, but the middle was perfectly cooked  No idea if the celeriac would work though, I've never bought it so don't even know what it looks like :o
Its a sort of big rooty thing. Whitish and roundish and the top looks like loads of leaves have been ripped off in circles (as they have been) and the bottom is where lots of knotty roots have been hacked off so tends to be a bit mud encrusted.
It's like mild celery in flavour I suppose, but not stringy (which always puts me off celery).

So anyway I tried it. completely forgot to pr1ck it, but it doesn't have a skin as such so I'm not sure it was necessary. Into microwave on full (and mine's quite powerful) for 25 mins. I expected it to need longer as it was a big one, but I poked it with a steak knife (just coz that was the closest) and it was soft.

It came out extremely hot so I left it a bit then cut it in half with same knife and middle was mainly soft - yippee. I think it could have done with maybe a few minutes more but pretty good and so much less effort than peeling and chopping and boiling and mashing.

Scooped all the innards out into a bowl and - oops, greedy guts - ate the lot with a knob of butter and some black pepper.

I usually eat a third of one grated, so - if this has the same intestinal effect as uncooked - its a VERY good job I'm home alone! I am feeling a bit 'tight' round the middle. A whole one might not have been the best idea I ever had ;)wHGeavXrnyaxNS1M7cpM7c2dvXX71HnryBgB12T0ROqyNEgAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==wHGeavXrnyaxNS1M7cpM7c2dvXX71HnryBgB12T0ROqyNEgAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==
  • adelight, Green & Black's 70% cocoa dark chocolate is 36g carbs per 100g, the 85% cocoa is about half that per 100g. I've been looking at their website again (as you do ) & they have a coffee one called Espresso which has 33.8g per 100g - I'm going to make it my mission to track that one down in the shops

HanSpan, your poor cats, I hope they have kitty gas masks!! :rotfl:

I'll say no more but apart from chips... twice!! there were bottom-less dishes of quality street in the canteen.

Got some lovely pork fillets from Tesco, think they're on offer, but the shelf label was missing and they were only £2 summin to £3 summin each, , (shrink wrapped with the pork legs) all lovely lean meat, gonna freeze one for xmas and the other is for dinner tomorrow :)

Well the cats are still speaking to me. Wasn't at bad as raw celeriac but still seems to disagree somewhat with my digestion.

Thing is I like celeriac so much I just don't care!

Tesco 74% Ivory Coast Plain choc. 33carbs in 100g or 6.6carbs in 2 chunks. 53 pence - quite nice too.

not sure if I've posted this link correctly -7 seeded sliced loaf 16.8 carbs per 100g or as it says on the actual loaf 6 carb per slice. If link doesn't work just google 'Irwins seeded white loaf'.

  • Hi everyone :)

Mmmm, I love pork fillet, will have at look in Tesco tomorrow for that, thanks mazzers :D

beanrua, will grab a bar of that choccie to try as well, thank you

I've just been to Aldi (sorry beanrua, know you don't have one) & I got their Moser Roth 70% to try - 5 individual 25g bars 8.4g carbs each. I was tempted to get their dark chocolate with hazelnuts as well, carbs weren't too bad. And their dark chocolate with chocolate mousse centre, think that was about 40g carbs per 100g. So much temptation, think I'm safer with the small individual bars tbh :o

    B - protein shake
L - 2 buttered crispbreads with salmon & spring onion mayo, bowl of HM soup
D - roast chicken & veg with Schwartz gravy

Might have the last glass of wine out of the bottle tonight with the last bit of G&B chocolate.

    Happy LC days :)

    Afternoon peeps

Its bloomin freezin here now! I`ve not been able to get properly warm since i got home from w*rk so i`m off in the shower soon to defrost, the temp is just one degree and i`m watching the gizmo to see when it clicks down to zero. We are forecast some :snow_grin over the next few days too

Brekkie today was bacon, sausage, scramblies and mushrooms, dinner was a cheese and chilli jam sandwich and tea was a massive lamb shank which i`ve just scoffed:D I couldnt be bothered to make any veg so may just have choccy later instead:D

Mazzers - the lamb shanks are stupidly expensive and we don`t have them very often, my mum buys them from Donald Russell when they are on offer and every now and again slings one over our way. I did order some myself as a special treat but no way could we have them all the time - that said they are huge! IIRC they were about £15 for two and that was on offer:eek:

Sweet - I love the @ldi dark choccy with hazelnuts:drool: its not very lc though:rotfl: the Co-op do a couple which are good and these are much lower but i don`t have any in atm to check just how low they are - i ate the last one last night. The only choccy in the house now is part of a bar of M&S dark madagascan choccy which isn`t low either but is very nice:D Chocolate should all be lc and classed as a vegetable IMO, i`d have no trouble with my 5 a day that way:rotfl:

I`m fast running out of goodies so a trip to @ldi may be on the cards tomorrow weather permitting.

    SD
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
