TMI on the way...
I haven't been to the loo since the first day of low carb, I know I'm eating small dense meals but five days is a long time! I'm getting a decent amount of fiber(from flax and veggies) for the calories I'm eating which is still more than most people so I don't see why I am having trouble. I took a pill and had a little one but I felt so nauseous I don't want to try again.
Erm so my question is, can anyone recommend a supplement or will my body adjust to having less fiber? I used to get way more than the recommended amount and am now getting an amount which is only slightly less than what's in proportion to the calories I'm eating. I don't really want to weigh myself yet cause of this, my stomach does feel hard like it's er full
Oh I know that feeling well... not nice. Even less nice, is trying to go, and failing... I won't elaborate further..It's tiring too! I take one or two senna tablets if I think I might get 'blocked up'. I looked up those husks but they seemed a bit too expensive..
I was tempted to have toast this morning, feeling a little disheartened that ketosis seemed to be evading me, but I decided to do a little test when I got up, and the slight change of colour on the stick was enough to keep me going :T
Had to take a pic. of that salsa.. ended up fiddling around with the photos on my phone; moving them to PC, naming, etc.. now I'm horribly behind on stuff I need to do. Oh I miss that rollseyes smiley! <rollseyes>. Hehe.
Oh. I'm annoyed at Tesco! They did a little prawn cocktail in a little tub; a bit over £1 each. I'd have 2 or 3 of those a week with lettuce and plenty of chilli flakes. Loved them. Then they stopped doing them in my local. Then they brought them back and I was chuffed. Now they've changed them: much more carbs.!! Grrr!! Yes, I do get prawns and make my own sometimes, but it's hard to get it as nice, and they were handy. Asda do them, but my nearest is much further away. Ahh well, c'est la vie.
Better get going. Better take a senna too, or I might be kicking myself!! _pale_
Hope you get better soon adelight0 -
I've lost 1.2kg :j or about 2.5lbs. Just the boost I needed to keep it up. Wonder if I can class all the vacuuming and cleaning I have to do today as exercise?
Mostly back on the low carb today though I had a little bit of pasta just now (~30g dry so not fussed). 100% back to low carb as of tomorrow though
Thanks for all the tips on fiber supplements, I'm doing some online price comparing before I buy.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Is this the M&S Salsa that was mentioned, or did I get the wrong one?
It's 14.2g carbs./100g
I looked at one in Tesco the other day that was 5.8g/100g, hence my confusion. You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0 -
Hello
mazzers, lol at the psyllium husk description!! :rotfl:
hanno, do you have a local Co-op?? They sell prawn mayo in mine but I haven't looked at the carbs.
adelight, congratulations on the 2.5lbs off :T
Sunny, the microwaved swede was sooooooo niceThe smell was divine as well
So glad you posted the method, thank you
Brekkie was the usual protein shake, lunch was buttered crispbreads with pate & a bowl of soup, dinner will be chicken, swede , green beans & either Schwartz gravy or cheese sauce.
Right, I'm off to the Post Office to collect a parcel, I'm hoping it's the Vitamin B Complex I ordered off Amazon.
Have a good LC weekend everyone0 -
Thanks for all the tips for coatings - I've just recently tried pork scratchings myself and I like them as a snack, but my OH is veggie which is why I was trying to think of something else. What are GG crackers. I get Ryvita sesame crackers and was thinking of trying them, but maybe GG are lower carb.
adelight -hope you get sorted! I was the other way before low carb - a touch of irritable bowel but low carb has 'relieved' that. It's not nice feeling nauseous and unwell. Well done on the weight loss.
mazzers Still haven't figured out the signature thing - user CP.
Exercise to-day was draught proofing this house to within an inch of it's life!!
Rang Tescos and asked them why they have recipes for low fat, low calorie etc etc but not low carb - said they would look into it.
Having jumbo prawns in chilli sauce to-night.
Can you make a pavlova type thing with Splenda?
Trying to plan Xmas - family coming home and visitors calling etc and don't want to end up eating high carb just cos I didn't prepare enough.
Here in N. Ireland we get Irwins 7 seeded white bread which is 6 carbs a slice so I've ditched the breadmaker for a while. It's made with oats, pumpkin seeds etc - I guess there are 7 of them!!! It also comes in wholemeal but the carbs are higher. I rang them and asked if it was available in the rest of UK - says it is available thro' Tesco but you would need to ask your local Tesco to order it. It is a large loaf and costs about £1.59 but it's lovely bread and makes breakfast with eggs and bacon more appetising. Probably not as good as HM but it is a good low carb option.
I just love low carb eating but I am in danger of boring my friends to death raving on about it, the recipes, the challenge of finding new low carb foods etc etc but most of all I love losing the two stone which had settled itself round my waist.
Would love a glass of wine to-night but I'm so near to achieving my target weight and I know that wine makes me stall (and fall).
Must stay strong!!!Treat the Earth well,It was not given to you by your parents,It was loaned to you by your children.Masai proverb0 -
Evening Peeps
its freezing cold here and i`m absolutely shattered!
Been good on the food front though up until half an hour ago:eek:
Sardines on toast for brekkie and then a pastrami sandwich for dinner, tuna steak with leeks, cabbage and courgettes for tea and then a huge bar of old jamaica choccy for afters:o
I`m going to sort out the kitchen and then i might have an early night and watch my spooks dvd in bed.
The car was frozen solid this morning but i tried a little tip from one of the other boards and filled a hot water bottle and then wrapped it in a towel and popped it on the dashboard, by the time i needed to leave for w*rk there was a nice thawed out piece of windscreen in the middle so i only had to scrape around the edges :j
I`m back on the early shifts now so up at 4am, when i got home today it was still light enough to see ok so i woodstained a garden table and two benches so tomorrow i`ll see about dragging them into the greenhouse and then i can pop some of the tubs in there over the cold weather.
My slowcooker is full and in the fridge ready to go on in the morning so we are having chilli tomorrow night for tea, if i can keep organised for a few days it will help a lot and i shouldn`t stray too far from the lc path:D
Adelight - I`m glad that you are feeling better today, there`s nothing worse than feeling ill when the weather is cold!
Beanrua - Mazzers is right and now i realise that its the signature that you were asking about:o Scroll up the page and see the words usercp near the top, click edit signature from the left hand side and then type in whatever you like in the box and then save it.
I`m off to put the marigolds on and then once in the water my hands will warm up:D
Have a good evening everyone:wave:
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
I had a pack of The Black Farmer sausages last week and was very impressed. I left a favourable comment on his website, and yesterday I received a complimentary jar of The Black Farmer spicy tomato sauce with a very nice personal letter thanking me for my interest. It was a lovely surprise!Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

beanrua, it's GG Scandinavian crispbreads 2.9g carbs each - available from Holland & Barrett - I think they're £1.39 for a pack of 10 - there's a link to the website on Mercy's recipe page at the beginning of this thread.
Aldi used to do a sesame crispbread (possibly similar to Ryvita) which were lower carb than the GG crispbreads - I haven't bought them for ages (haven't seen them actually) but from memory they were Savour Bakes in a red ryvita type package.
I like the sound of that Irwins seeded bread - 6g carbs per slice is really good - lucky you getting it where you live0 -

Of course you can!!
Well done on your loss :T
If I am to believe my wii fit, I've lost half a stone since Monday....... :rotfl: I suspect my little wii has 'carpetitis' hehe.
Ahh well, I'm feeling so much better atm I don't care if it's inaccurate. Still makes me feel better which helps me keep going, so can't be such a bad thing. Will try and make sure it's more accurate at some point, but for now I'll let it massage my battered ego

I like the sound of that bread too, unsure how many carbs in mine as you get different carb counts on different sites, i think its about 3-4 g per slice tho. Makes a lovely cheese'n'onion sarnie.
Han, psyllium husk sounds expensive but it's a huge 900g tub for £11 with free p&p and I only use 1 level teaspoon twice a day, should last ages.

Sweet it thought i was dreaming it that the Aldi crackers were lower carb than GG, i cant find them now either, they still have savour bakes but they are higher carb now it seems
Been great all day in work and then i come home and:( had a roll, crisps and a twix... mind you, i bl**dy worked it off in advance today, yesterday too
My uniform trooosers are really loose and felt more so today, they were so so tight and now they hang off my bum
Well done adelight too..0
