Evening peeps
Mazzers - I just realised that i forgot your birthday:eek::o Soorrreeeee
Hope that you had a lovely day and had lots of naughty booze!:D
Just spoke to Dsis today (we only speak about once a month despite her being reasonably close as we both work opposite shifts) and we discovered that we both have tomorrow off w*rk so she will be coming for a visit - even better she has been lcing for about a month lol, we had a good natter and she is thinking about trying the bread so i may be able to share the postage after all:j
She had me in bits as she has just had a major blowout and can really tell a tale, she almost had me in tears as i visualised a little space hopper (remember those?) with her head on top :rotfl:
Today i`ve been shopping as i waited for a jumper that i liked to be in the sale:money: I almost bought another one too but my tum looked massive in it:rotfl: Nice jumper but not nice for me lol
I`ve not eaten a great deal today - 2 chicken drumsticks and a piece of wensleydale with chilli jam and then for tea mozarella stuffed chicken breasts wrapped in bacon and buttered leeks in garlic & philly sauce. I have eaten a massive bar of choccy but in my defence it did contain nuts:D:p
My new boots arrived yesterday whilst i was at w*rk and i found them last night just before i went to bed:eek: Cue a very fetching vision of me in my lovely purple fleecy dressing gown and my lovely new boots as i just had to try them on - DH was amused:D Now i love my boots very much and they are wonderfully comfy BUT they are tight on the calves and i can`t pull them right up:( Think butternut squash calves that need to be more like leeks:rotfl: SOOOO short of a carving knife has anyone got any tips for me to be able to make my calves a bit slimmer or am i just hoping against hope? The boots were a mahoosive bargain and i love them so would hate to have to send them back HERE they aresunnyday what is GC? and also how do you write things below the line in replies? Thanks
Ah Beanrua - the GC is the monthly grocery challenge on the OS board and i got really good at it and saved an absolute fortune. Highly recommended but unfortunately the shopping bill for all the lc goodies made it impossible for me to hit my targets so after doing it solidly for a very long time i`m giving it a rest. I will go back to it eventually but not quite yet
If you mean what i think you mean about writing under lines in replies then you can just put your cursor in the middle of the quoted text and type away as normal, you can alter the fonts too to make it stand out more.
Right, i need a drink and i also need to tidy the kitchen, think that i`ll take the drink and slam the door to the kitchen and regret it in the morning:D Voddie here i come!
Have a great evening folks:wave:
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Sunnyday - lovely boots. sorry, dont know how to tone up calves.
Beanrua - how about crushed up pork scratchings for the coating. i have seen someone else talk about it and am thinking of trying it myself.
sweet - embarrasingly enough i have had asthma for nearly 20 years (well, diagnoised but did have it before that) and its only recently that i have noticed the food link. i always put it down to dust, cats, dogs, rain.
i have done so well today. i had a meeting with the company i volunteer with and afterwards was a leaving do. everything on the table was high carb. there were crisps, sandwiches, double choc chip muffins, french fancies, scones, mini sponge cakes, huge carrot cake, mince pies etc etc etc and didnt have anything. even the drinks were shloer which i asume are high carb. :T so am rewarding my self with a glass of red wine (ok on my second)

Morning :santa2:
1st of December so time to get into the Christmas spirit :xmassmile Ok, that'll do for now
Felt a bit bleurgh this morning & think it's because I didn't eat enough yesterday due to rushing around like a mad woman. I've decided to have a quiet day in today & have made soup (already had 2 bowlfuls ) & chilli for tonight's dinner is simmering away as I type.
beanrua, congratulations on the weight loss so far :T
Another option for the food coating is ground almonds - I've made salmon & cauli fishcakes using this & it did work but was quite 'delicate' although this was probably because of the wettish filling.
Jamie Oliver makes a coating out of crushed cream crackers & butter (with seasoning) - I'm just wondering if the GG crispbreads would work in place of the cream crackers
Sunny, I love those boots - I don't know any calf slimming exercises either & could do with them myself tbh. The only thing I could think of was to wear 'support' stockings or tights under them as they tend to hold things in a bit, iykwim?? Might not be very comfortable though.
I've got some wide fit boots from New Look that I'm wearing to death atm - just a flat heel though but I like to wear them with my jeans tucked into them or a long skirt.
nutty, well done on resisting the party goodies :A
Brekkie was a protein shake, lunch was/will be 2 bowlfuls HM soup & 2 buttered crispbreads with pate, dinner will be HM chilli & swede mash.
Happy LC days everyone :rudolf:0 -
sunnyday, you could try those boot extender inserts if they have a zip but imo they look a bit naff(extenders not your boots!). If it's only a bit too tight they might fit as you lose weight or you could try stretching the leather.
I'm still ill, worse in fact! I've read that swollen glands, tonsils and sore throats can be caused by candida die off which is a possibility. I've only just felt well enough to make some food (cauli mashed with egg and cheese yum) and there are loads of recipes I want to try when I'm better. There are some delicious looking ones for sweet cravings like nuts coated in a cocoa egg wash and roasted and apparently pork scratchings with cinnamon and sweetener coated in cream is like crunchy cinnamon cereal!
Beanrua, apparently crushed up pork scratchings make a delicious coating. I used ground flax to coat some chicken strips and it was quite good, perhaps a mix of the two could work?
TMI on the way...
I haven't been to the loo since the first day of low carb, I know I'm eating small dense meals but five days is a long time! I'm getting a decent amount of fiber(from flax and veggies) for the calories I'm eating which is still more than most people so I don't see why I am having trouble. I took a pill and had a little one but I felt so nauseous I don't want to try again.
Erm so my question is, can anyone recommend a supplement or will my body adjust to having less fiber? I used to get way more than the recommended amount and am now getting an amount which is only slightly less than what's in proportion to the calories I'm eating. I don't really want to weigh myself yet cause of this, my stomach does feel hard like it's er fullLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
adelight, poor you
It does seem very easy to get 'congested' on low-carb.
* The Idiot Proof Diet (& mazzers) recommend psyllium husks
* Fibersure has been mentioned on this thread previously but I've never tried it
* GG Scandinavian crispbreads (as recommended by me) I usually have 2 a day at lunchtime (with plenty of water)
* Fresh chillis (not recommended by me)
Make sure you drink plenty of water whatever you do, warm water with a squeeze of lemon may help as well.
beanrua, let us know what you decide to use for coating your food, I'm actually coming round to the idea of using crushed pork scratchings as I do think that would work.0 -
A magnesium supplement helps a lot with constipation. I take Chelated Magnesium (300mgs daily) because it's meant to be best for absorption. It also helps with bone strength, sleep, anxiety and restless legs, so very worthwhile. You can buy it cheaply at Holland & Barratts or online from many retailers.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

PSYLLIUM HUSKS...
You feel like you've had colonic irrigation.. cant recommend them enough, fantastic feeling.
I tried the pork scratching as a coating but thought it was pretty minging! I bet sweets idea of crushed GG would be good.
Sweet i wondered why the 'mushroom' was there too, it def wasn't when i posted, glad you cleared it up for me tho as i was puzzled

Thanks guys I'll hit the shops as soon as I feel well enough, hopefully the weekend!
The nausea got worse last night and in the end I had some flat coke to settle my stomach but when it came back OH insisted I eat something solid and plain so I had some dry cheeriosI don't feel as bad today so hopefully I can get back to low carb

Is this the M&S Salsa that was mentioned, or did I get the wrong one?
It's 14.2g carbs./100g
I looked at one in Tesco the other day that was 5.8g/100g, hence my confusion.0
