Was doing well today... till about an hour ago...
Had a couple of chilli frankfurters for brekkie with a tiny squirt of reduced sugar/salt ketchup (not paying £3 for a little bottle from Avidlite anymore). Had a little prawn cocktail and some cheese and nuts for lunch. Did a bit of Yoga and attempted 'Stricgly come dancersize' for the second time.... I think that's where it may have started to go downhill...
I feel like the most unco-ordinated elephant on the planet trying to keep up with the gorgeous Karen, and super fit Erin. Last time I did it I just had fun, accepting that it would take a good few attempts before I started to get the hang of it, but this time I allowed myself to get a little frustrated...
Then I had a bit of bad news, shortly before going to pick my boys up from school..
Things just started irritating me and it built up and by the time I got home, the biscuits just knew their time was up!
Will be getting something liquid to lift the 'spirit' later too!
Sometimes it just seems......... oh I won't say it. I'll hate reading it later!
    <walks off mumbling>
  • Hi everyone :)

Dave, I'm too tired to comment on your post, but thanks for taking the trouble, I'll read it properly tomorrow.

hanno, hope everything is ok?? I've had a hell of a day too so do sympathise.

nicka, I do a sudden bloat/weight gain if I go off track as well, just the opposite of what happens when I start LCing really.

mardatha, think I remember you on this thread before so nice to see you back. I love the crispbreads but agree they are cardboardy & a bit dry. I have mine with butter & slices of cheese or butter with pate & I do really enjoy them - maybe I'm just weird :D

mazzers, yaay on the lb off :j How are your feet these days?!

lindens, yaaaaay on the 3lbs off :j TOTM can definitely affect the weight so may well have been that stalling you, IPD book tells you not to weigh at that time.

Sunny, where are you hiding today??

I'm soooooo tired tonight & very tempted to have a small glass of Baileys for medicinal purposes ;) Meals have been far too spaced out today - shake at 8am, crispbreads at noon & then dinner at 8pm - certainly haven't eaten enough either but just had a bad day running around after everyone & their dog.

Dinner was rushed & rubbish - 2 quarter pounder burgers (!!), green beans & cheese sauce. I'm sorry, but burgers are just horrible without a load of fried onions, Branston jalapeno relish & a roll :rotfl:

Hopefully a better day tomorrow :)

Oh dear I hope everyone has a better day today :(

One of my favourite lunches pre-LC was ryvita, philly and salsa. So i think I can have GG crispbreads, philly and M&S salsa after looking at the labels!!

Am happily munching my way through bacon, egg and mushrooms atm, so of course I'm feeling happy right now :rotfl: It's a bit too Olive Oily though. I used to use sunflower for fry-up-type eats, but read somewhere it's not a good choice, so decided to stop using it.. think that may have been when I was reading about the Paleo diet, which I hope to eventually get onto... Anyway, what do you guys use for frying? Butter, lard, ghee, olive oil, some other oil...?

I've just got back from walking the dog and fought a rather strong urge to have a bacon sani., so that's making me feel better too.

To wash it down I have tea (decaf) with LactoFree, thanks to you mentioning it recently Mazzers :D I was trying to use unsweetened Soya, but... I just threw the last one away since it had gone off :o It's bearable, but I don't want tea and coffee to be 'bearable' (well I only have a dash in coffee to stop the water burning the coffee. I top it up with double cream! :D ) It's still a lot more than the soya (0.1g/100ml!) but much nicer imo. I bought the Longlife UHT too ('Arla'), so I imagine the fresh will be rather nice: might get it next time if it's not ridiculously expensive. Cream is only 1.6g/100ml, so that's pretty good.
Still plan on trying the Alpro soya, just in case it's nicer than the cheapie longlife Tesco one I've had...

I was studying the carb. content of some nuts yesterday whilst munching on them. Brazils seem to be the lowest, at 2.9g/100g. Walnuts aren't far behind at 3.3g. Hazlenuts: 5.6g. The Macademias I was munching on are 10.1g but they are roasted and salted: the plain ones are considerably less at 6.8g. Almonds (roasted+salted) 9.1g, and cashews a whopping 23.1g per 100g  Pine nuts look to be fairly low, according to this. Not sure if I've had them, so will get some next time I'm in Mr T's.

Have a good day peeps :)
  • I'm looking at starting a low carb diet next week, bit scared to be honest as I'm a carb addict but after reading various things I think it's the right thing for me. Does anyone do the South Beach diet?

Sunny, where are you hiding today??

    ]

    Hi Peeps

Sweet i`m still here but have been only reading to catch up as i`m a bit pushed for time atm, i`ve been trying to get some of the garden cleared before going to w*rk as the weather has been so nice.

I`ve just cleared most of the greenhouse out this morning and dug up the last of the spuds (will have one or two at Christmas if they keep) DH will be eating most of those :D

Woofaloes walked and then more gardening, i`ve just hopped in the shower and sat down to sliced beef with extra hot horseradish and some smoked cheese with 3 gherkins on the side.

I have one hour to sort out the kitchen and finish getting ready for w*rk and then thats me done!

Dinner later will be a ham/beef sandwich and tea is the last of the roast pork with leeks, cabbage, tiny bit of carrot and red pepper and some courgettes. I have some emergency choccy for later too:p

I had a naughty glass of wine last night and i may just have another tonight - i`ll see how i feel when i get home.

Nicka99 - At Christmas i usually cheat big time and then start to behave again on Jan the first :D I always feel horrible and bloated at the time but i just can`t seem to help myself:o

Hannoja - Glad to see that you are feeling a bit more positive today, i was having a bad day yesterday afternoon and i`m not looking forward to this afternoon either if i`m honest.

Right best get my bum in gear, have a good afternoon peeps.

    SD
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

Hello everyone, mind if I join the thread? I've never been a serious low carb dieter before, but have always tried not too eat too many ie starchy carb with lunch OR dinner and always choosing protein/veg over carbs. I've put on a wee bit of fat during my quest for muscles and would like to ditch a fair few kilos of the stuff so I can see my hard earned muscles better!

Has anyone tried er "using up" the carbs in their system in the first few days of a low carb diet with intense exercise? I've been reading around about low carb diets and it seems to be a technique used by people who practise carb cycling. Does it get the cravings out the way faster?

I have about 1.5kg of flax seed so will be trying out one flax seed based carb replacement most days. I love flax cookies and flax in yogurt so I can't wait to try the flax bread recipes :D
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:

Just olive oil for me. Coconut oil is supposed to be good, you can buy it online or in H&B. There's a thread on Health & Beauty devoted to it as you can use it on hair & skin as well as cook with it.

Still plan on trying the Alpro soya, just in case it's nicer than the cheapie longlife Tesco one I've had...

I've just bought the fresh Tesco unsweetened soya milk to try with the protein shakes, hope I like it as the carbs are a lot lower than the lactofree & it's cheaper!!

I like plain whole almonds from Home Bargains - 3g net carbs per 1oz serving (it's just a small 2oz bag for 39p). I actually have 14 almonds a day which is about half an oz. Mazzers said earlier on that Tesco are doing a huge bag of almonds for half price in the ethnic aisle.

Pine nuts are yummy, really like them & very good for you apparently - drawback is that they're so blooming expensive!!

I don't do South Beach but apparently the Idiot Proof Diet that I do is similar to that & Atkins, basically a low-carb way of eating. Good luck with it.

Have to split posts as I can't multi-quote more than 3 - I may be some time as I keep getting interrupted!!
  • Right, I'm back...

I read in the IPD that horseradish can stimulate weight loss in some peeps, what do you reckon??

I'm so tempted as well, probably by the time I finish posting it'll be too late. I will definitely be having some tomorrow night though!! ;)

    Evening everyone :)

Not as hectic a day today but I still haven't eaten enough or drank enough water :o Haven't been out for a walk for days either :o Will have a walk along the seafront tomorrow as it's supposed to be a nice day.

Can't think of anything else to say so I will bid you all Goodnight :p
