I made 'Cauli Pie' yesterday. Wow, can't believe how good it was!
My 'older little boy' is calling it 'Mummy Flower Pie'. Aww. Cute.
He/they don't like cauliflower, but I told them it was shepherd's pie, and waited till he'd polished it off before asking, "You liked my cauli pie then?".. His little face.. :rotfl:

Made them 'PC' tonight (pasta carbonara), so I had the last portion of 'cauli pie'. Mmmm... can't get over it. I've never been a big cauli fan, but it works so well as mash! (There was a bit of swede in it too, which I'm hoping didn't make any noticeable difference..)

Into week 3 and my weight has stalled already :( This cant be right as I need to lose 3 stone and have lost 7lbs so far,
Still craving and I'm sure alot of it is bad habits too.
    A typical days food

brekkie - 2 eggs and 3 cocktails saus as scrambled egg Have you checked how many carbs are in the cocktail sausages??
snack - 2 celery sticks and peanut butter Is the peanut butter sugar free??
lunch - prawns, green leaves, beansprouts, celery , blob of mayo Is blob of mayo full fat?? Reduced fat has more carbs
    snack - almonds
dinner - chicken wrapped in chorizo, mushroom stuffed with cheese, cheesy leeks, green beans
snack - small pack pork scratchings, square of dark chocolate

drinks - 3 cups of tea with milk and 1/2 tsp sugar, flavoured water(sucrose), water check how many carbs in the milk used, also could you use splenda instead of sugar??

Water is refusing to go down at the moment its sooooo broing and I know i'm not drinking enough (congestion hmmm....) so i switched back to flavoured water yesterday. I am a little and often person hence the snacks!

lindens, I've stalled this week & I'm trying to reduce the carbs a bit as I think I was going a bit too high. Hope you don't mind me putting comments next to your menu, I just wonder if your carb intake is higher than you might think??
Another issue is the 'congestion' - are you taking anything to help with that?? Low-carb is notorious for causing it & you could maybe benefit from taking something like fibresure, the psyllium husks that mazzers mentioned or have a couple of the GG crispbreads as part of your menu (these do have carbs though so you would have to factor them in). Also plenty of water will help.

    Thanks for the comments sweetserendipity.
The sausages carbs are 1 carb each!!!!!, the mayo is full fat, couldnt find sugar free peanut butter but i limit that to 2-3 days a week and the other days have a cheese string. didnt think about the milk, it is semi skim. i normally used sweetener in tea but thought if i switch back to sugar its "tastes" less sweet which should reduce the craving and i can make the teapsoons less and less.
Congestion - try and have a tbls of flax every day but did want to try those GG crackers - is that their actual name? where do I buy them from - H&B?
On the plus side I lost 3lb overnight, I did drink over 1 pint of flavoured water in the evening too. It was TOTM last week I wonder if thats the reason.

Lindens, i love crunchy peanut butter squashed into a celery stick too..

I have also never stopped using sweeteners (tesco value as their not too sweet) but they never stall me.

Try lactofree milk you can buy uht or fresh, personally i use the whole as they all have the same carbs (same goes for normal milk) but whole goes further in tea so you use less.

Lost a lb this morning, knew i would as i was up weeing all night again from fluid retention due to not sticking to lc the last 5 days, and its not weight i previously gained, its a continual loss :)

I'm wondering if eating little and often is whats working for me this time, I eat every 2-3 hours now and it's keeping BG from spiking.

Morning all, lovely day here in South Wales :)

Just had a delicious late brekkie of pate' on toast with sliced tomato and black pepper on top.
This bread is much nicer toasted, takes away the foam rubber-ish consistency, gonna try another loaf made with nut flours and less gluten today to see if it improves.

Sweet you would love it as soldiers with boiled eggs ;)

Allinsons yeast is on offer inTesco atm, buy two get one free, so have enough to make 42 loaves.. should last a couple of days then!

Lindens the lactofree is 2.7g carbs per 100ml compared to normal milk which is 5g so you can have twice as many cuppas

with christmas looming and the work parties, drinks, meals out, crisps, nibbles, chocolate, piles of roast potatoes and gravy with the family etc etc there will invariably be times we I fall off the wagon.

Ive been wondering how to deal with this and what will happen physically having stuck to a low carb quite rigidly for a few weeks now.
does anyone have any tips ?

I found this page which was quite interesting suggesting that any immediate weight gain will be water and not to panic. you would then gain additional weight (fat) at a more normal rate according to how much your calorific intake exceeds your output - all makes sense really but would be nice to hear from anyone's first hand experience. not liking the sounds of the hunger & cravings when you start low-carbing again though !!

    thanks,
    nick

Nicka, it depends on what you eat, bread really bloats me out after lc, chocolate doesnt seem so bad tho.

I lost two dress sizes at least last time i did lc, I bought lots of nice fitted tops for my holiday but within three days of carbs none of them woud fit.. i looked pregnant, it does seem to go quite quickly though once yo start lcing again as it is only fluid.
