[sweaty betty - are you eating enough fat? are you eating any sugar free sweets or having fizzy drinks as all this can stall you. are you eating too much cheese as some people stall on this.

Hello - thanks for all the help. I'm definitely not having sugar free sweets or drinks as I think I'd find it too hard to resist the real thing if I still had a taste for it!

In terms of eating too little, or eating too little fat or too much cheese - I had no idea! It's so hard to know how much is the right amount (especially as we're all different). I definitely have 3 meals per day, try to have veg (green veg mainly) with 2 of the 3 meals, and there's usually some fat in each meal. I did give up cheese for a couple of weeks, but it had no impact on my weight, so I've re-introduced it. I've been cutting back on salt, in case that's the problem, but again, no change.

It's frustrating - the only thing keeping me on the low carb path is the impact it's having on my blood sugar (as one of the previous posters said) - it's been the best since I was diagnosed with diabetes, so worth keeping going for that reason alone. Although I really want to shift some more weight. Unfortunately I've recently injured my leg, so I can't even exercise to speed things up...

    Ah well...

hi, why dont you post what you are eating over a day or 2 and maybe someone can see something that maybe causing it?

Are you like me..? I can be good for however long, then one slip and I'm like 'Oh well, may as well make a pig of myself now' nomnomnomscoffscoffscoff...?
This has to be the biggest, single-most thing that I have to learn to get over. If you're craving something naughty, bloody well have it, then forget about it, and move on. One little mistake does not a disaster have to make!
    .......... :P

I think thats most peoples problem (nomnomscoffscoff :rotfl: ) once they've slipped up.
I do try the move on forget about it approach, and it does work, but sometimes a little taste opens the floodgates i'm afraid. Sometimes i just give in to the craving and start again next day.

When i was having just nuts, shakes, soup and ham/chicken salad i was losing loads and not even thinking about food so will try to get back to that for a few weeks then ease up a bit.

Sweet if you have psyllium husk in the shake it thickens it and keeps you going for longer, is brill for your colon too :D

I should try those psyllium husks, they're mentioned in the IPD book. Tbh though, I generally have no problem in that department because of the GG crackers ;) Actually I've found savoy cabbage seems to have that effect as well :o Why do we always end up lowering the tone of this thread?! :rotfl:

The butter chicken was soooooo good last night, even without the missing ingredients. The only thing I would say is that it made me (& hubby) a bit bloated (aka windy) so maybe a bit too carby for me. I'm blaming the onion as I felt a bit like that after eating the cauli pizza the night before & that was the only common ingredient  I'll still make it occasionally but maybe substitute the onion with leek.

I need to get myself some breakfast now but I don't know what to have :( Don't fancy eggs & everything else is frozen :doh:Hubby has said he'll go & get me some lactofree this morning so I can have a protein shake a bit later (if it hasn't gone off!!) but I need something to eat now. Think it'll have to be crackers for the time being.

    Happy LC days :)

DUH! forgot the shake again this morning and somehow gained a pound overnight :o

I don`t think that i`m eating enough some days, i`ve just eaten a pastrami sandwich on lc bread with a bit of mayo on one slice and a scraping of hot horseradish on the other side, very nice it was too :D

I`m supposed to be making mazzers' lasagne but i`ve just discovered that the cream is 7 days OOD

I`ll investigate it later as i`ve spent all day shopping and running errands and theres no way that i`m going back out now.

I have two eggs boiling for a snack, well 4 actually two for me and two for one of the dogs, she loves eggs but she does need them atm as she's been stealing lots of cat food, i`m sure that the cat has started saving her some.

I need to go and find where to stash all these teabags that i`ve just bought  everywhere is full :o

I have found a couple of lc bread recipes on FB so will be utilising my breadmaker later, I have a good recipe, but make it by hand and cant be a*sed with faffing anymore :o
It's had mixed reviews so will let you know later. A sandwich is so much more convenient for work.

Found this very interesting info on FB insulin resistance page.. describes me to a tee.
Cooked brekkie was off the menu in work so had to have porridge (the best of the worse) as i hadn't taken anything in, my God i was starving in two hours, slow release carbs haven't worked for years for me and this explains why.

  • Morning all :)

Still feeling a bit bloated today, think I'm eating too many carbs. Got weighed & I've only lost a lb so far this week (official weigh in tomorrow) so think I need to look at being more careful.

I had my protein shake yesterday & it was lovely - used the lactofree milk to mix & put 20g frozen rasps in. I worked this out as being 6g carbs in total which I think is quite high for a shake?? Nice & filling though so I think it's worth it.

Anyway I've decided to have a protein shake for breakfast each day, crispbreads & HM soup at lunchtime & a meat & veg dinner. Whole almonds for snacks, plenty of water, brisk walks & hopefully that will help to shift some more lbs.

I decided to try the parmesan crisps/wafers for the first time last night & they were foul _pale_ I don't think I cooked them for long enough so they were'nt crisp, but the taste was far too strong & salty for me. Bleurgh.

Hope everyone else doing well :)
  • Interesting youtube video mazzers, thank you, describes me to a tee as well.

Sunny has been making her own LC bread in a BM - she posted the recipe a few pages back & there's a pic of a finished loaf

Hi guys...first time posting in here. :)

I've decided to go back on my low-carb again due to my fave pair of jeans feeling a little too tight - I've given up using the 'they must have shrunk in the wash' excuse. :rotfl:

I'm currently on the induction phase of Atkins to jumpstart myself, but will only stay on it for a week as I really only need to drop a dress size.

As other posters have mentioned, I find that too much cheese stalls my weight loss so I tend to stick to a 1" cube per day...which kills me cos I love cheese so much!

My OH is diabetic so it's easier for me to avoid sugary treats - I've never liked eating them in front of him as it isn't fair to the poor love. :(

Oh well, time for some lunch...am thinking of making some scrummy curry cauliflower egg fritters....nomnomnomnom.:D

Just had some compliments on my weight loss which has boosted morale and given me encouragement to keep it up :j
