Me & my OH have been eating low carb for the first time ever for the last 8 days.
Do you know how many grams of carbs you want to eat each day?Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -

Hi Peeps
Kimberley - if it helps i`m aiming for less than 20g per day. Some days i may be a bit over which is why my loss is slower but i`m more than happy.
I have the lc bread recipe in the breadmaker but i`ve just put it on a dough setting. Hope that it works as i`ve no idea how this stuff behaves out of the bm lol
My intention is to make some lc finger rolls so that i can have hotdogs on bonfire night in the buns and everything *drools*
Beanrua - the extra pound that i was ignoring has gone and its also taken another one with it :j Thats 12 pounds off so far
I forgot to mention that i bought the measuring cups and spoons in MrM when i last visited so now i`m making the lc bread to the US measurements instead of faffing about. They are just plain white cheap plastic and the cups and the spoons both fit inside one another so handy to shove in the cupboard too.
I`m almost at the end of my first bag of the vital wheat gluten so i`ve two left, when i start the third bag i`ll order some more as it took a long time to arrive last time and i`d absolutely hate to be without it now.
I really wish that there was somewhere nearer that stocked it so that i could just pop out and buy some, that said the place i bought it from sells it cheaper than anywhere else that i`ve found so i`ll maybe stock up quite a bit with my next order.
I can`t decide what to have for tea later, chicken and cauli rice will feature in there somewhere so i`ll have to peep in the fridge and see what waves back at me
Happy lcing peeps.

How many lbs are you looking to lose? 20g a day is a quite fast weight loss where the more g of carbs the slower the loss. It has to be a balance though as not enough carbs may make you quit.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -

I found that around 40g i still had cravings for carbs and sweet stuff, after three days on 20ish they disappeared completely. How are you doing at that level?
I roughly follow the Atkins plan but not to the letter and find that my loss is better at that rate.
Everyone is different though so if the 40g doesn`t seem to have the desired effect after 4 or 5 days i would do a couple of weeks on 20g.
Atkins recommends starting off on 20 for the first two weeks to get rid of the cravings and this also manages to stop any hunger pangs too.
This is the only diet that i`ve ever tried where i don`t feel hungry at all:j
Breakfast today was two sausages and buttery scrambled eggs
Dinner was a ham sandwich on lc bread
Tea will be chicken and lc veg.
I had planned on having some 85% choccy later as a treat but i`ve run out and cba to go out again so i think that i`ll have a tiny voddie instead

I've been on the Atkins now for a couple of months and managed to lose 37lbs, looking for more variations on food now though. Looked at the Low carb cheese bread recipe so going to give that a try. Does anyone have any tasty favs to share?0
