Hi again,
I really don't think it's because I wasn't eating enough and regarding muscle being heavier than fat. Surely that would only apply if I'd been doing any excercise, which I haven't. I know that not excercising would slow weight loss, but on other diets I've never excercised either and always lost something.
I was so cheesed off last night I ate the 3 jaffa cakes in my cupboard which I'd managed to leave well alone for 3 weeks. Will this have messed up my diet totally? 3 jaffa's have 24.6 carbs! Now I'm really tempted to go back and break the seal on the after eights...
Also, I find it hard to think of a proper meal (I live alone and really can't be bothered to cook - laziness I know). I can't bear the idea of just eating plates of meat or fish. I tend to have most of my veg with a salad at night. I try not to have more than 2 eggs a day - one on my salad. Is 2 eggs a day ok?
Anyone else who's single have any tips for quick easy, varied meals for one?
Oh and I don't drink, but getting the urge by the minute!0 -
Cagneyfan some of the things that i like to eat are cod and tarragon (dried is fine) cooked in a pan with a bit of butter and served with savoy cabbage or chard again with butter melting over it
Tuna steak marinated in a bit of soy sauce (tiny bit) and cooked in the micro with dried coriander leaves on the top. (pour the soy over the leaves on top of the tuna)
Pork steaks with cauli cheese (easy cauli cheese - frozen cauli nuked with grated mozarella and ground black pepper over it)
There is a lovely recipe that Mazzers posted somewhere on here a while back for a lc lasagne made with sliced courgettes instead of pasta and its lush. I made this and then portioned it up and froze it and just nuked a portion when i wanted one.
Tonight we are having chicken breasts stuffed with some mozarella from a ball and then wrapped in bacon with buttered cabbage or leeks
Tomorrow i have some braising steak so may try a curry of some sort with grated cauliflower instead of rice. Yesterday i grated some fresh cauli in the food processor and then portioned it up and froze it.
Pizza made with a mashed cauliflower base is really nice too, i work silly shifts so i can`t always be bothered but if i batch cook things and fill the freezer then i usually always have something in that i can do quickly or take to work.

PS just draw a line under today and start again tomorrow after the jaffas, after a couple of days you will be fine.Planning on starting the GC again soon0 -
UPDATE!!!
The lc bread is terrible :rotfl:
I think that something must have gone badly wrong with the conversions from the US cup measurements as i`ve ended up with a huge mishapen lump thats burnt on the outside and very very sweet.
Think that i shall either have to double check the recipe or buy a set of US cup measurements.

Lol, my sympathies to you Cagneyfan.
I know from experience that so many things can affect the loss that sometimes its difficult to work out which one is stalling you.
I know that at TOTM i can put on 6 or 7lb
Alcohol does me too (but i`ve just partaken half a glass of amaretto):o
My total loss since last posting is 5lb BUT i can now fasten the first button on my work trousersI would normally have had to lose a stone to get that done
There will be underlying changes which you won`t notice for a while and then all of a sudden you will notice that something is different. It will be working but you won`t necessarilly see all the results on the scales straight away. Trust me - i`ve been there a couple of times

I quite agree with this post - this is exactly how it affects me. I am so pleased with the way I am getting on with low carb food. It definitely suits me - although it may not suit everyone.Treat the Earth well,It was not given to you by your parents,It was loaned to you by your children.Masai proverb0 -
It's no good. All I want for christmas is willpower.
I got so cheesed off at not losing weight after week 3, then made the fatal mistake of eating the Jaffa's - which got me annoyed, so I then polished off the 2 flakes I had in the fridge for 3 weeks too. Then last night I was so angry at my stupidness at not sticking to the diet after only 3 weeks I ended up eating most of the after eights and then polished off the rest this morning!
So much for the Atkins doing away with your sweet tooth. I was like a crack addict trying to get a fix.
Having said that, the atkins must have some effect on a sweet tooth because I normally would not be able to leave any sweet stuff for 3 weeks, but as soon as I became disheartened I couldn't get them in my gob quick enough!!!0 -
If I may add my 2 pence:
Any diet which excludes entire food groups (e.g. meat, carbohydrates etc) is a bad idea, at any age. Following a diet will make you think of food all day. That is counter-productive.0 -

The carbs are only severely restricted for the first two weeks and after that can be gradually reintroduced. Doing this actually cleanses the body of junk / bloat and stops the cravings as long as the induction phase is followed properly.
There are many good foods that are low carb!

As a vegetarian who is happy low carbing I would have to disagree with this
I have tried many different eating plans but this is the only way I feel at peace around food. I do not think of food all day because I am no longer driven by the gnawing hunger that would overcome me inbetween my regular carb fixes.
In the run up to xmas I am surrounded by chocolates, cakes etc at home and at work but I can honestly say I am not even tempted.
On any other diet where you could incorporate an allowance of such food I would be feeling deprived and would drive myself crazy trying to avoid it by filling up eating free food before finally cracking and eating it anyway! I don't have this problem when low carbing.0 -
Sunnyday - have you had any more success with lc bread in the breadmaker? I have been looking for a recipe suitable for the breadmaker and was going to give that one a try until I saw your update post!
I have made an easy cheese bread in the oven recently which was lovely and about 1-2g carbs per portion. I can post the recipe if you would like?0
