New to this site as I only came across it to-day. Started low-carb 10 days ago and finding it ok. The early posts on this thread are full of information and very helpful advice. OH is veggie so was looking for some low carb veggie stuff and came across this site.

Hope you find it useful.
Some of these I have in my fridge
Big help0 -
Spent last night looking at carb values of veggie food - and it's very doable. Just back from getting all the ingredients ~I think I'll need for the week. I'm not veggie but OH is and we're both doing low carb. I eat very little meat and no chicken but I love fish. It's a good time to start to get in shape for Xmas. The carb value of quorn is surprisingly low. I subtract the amount of fibre from the carbs as fibre is good for you and doesn't count as 'bad' carbs'
The first post in this thread has some great recipes, thanks to Mercy.
Bought electronic scales this morning and set them up and jumped on-I was delighted to see I only weighed 11 stone - til realised that was the time!!!!!Treat the Earth well,It was not given to you by your parents,It was loaned to you by your children.Masai proverb0 -

I've been eating better for a week. And I do find I am STARVING after 6pm to around 2 am (if i'm still awake sleeping is rubbish)
But i have cut all bread out.
it's so difficult. But the weird thing is all i have had today is a bowl of oatabix and i'm not hungry at almost 5pm
so strange. oh and i've been drinking alot of water i find that keeping a volvic liter bottle next to helps me know exactly what i have drank
gym starts tomorrow i guess hunger will get more controllable and more 'normal'
but if ur still drinking any fizzy drinks stop and if you can cut out the bread and replace it with salad and cottage cheese or oats and some peanut butter
just these two things have made me less bloated
oh and i don't know the carb contents of this but in Waitrose there's a spaghetti replacement. it's a chickpea and egg spagetti. (ive cut out all pasta and white rice too) it has a nice taste and goes reallllly well with Swedish quorn meat balls in ur choice of sauce. it expands tho so careful how much you make0 -

thanks - I've cut out all bread, potatoes, rice and pasta. I used to eat brown rice and will go back to it in a few weeks time again/ Just want a quick start to get me motivated. We don't have Waitrose here and I've checked all the other pastas and not happy with them I can do without for a while. Like you I didn't feel hungry but did eat something anyway as it keeps your metabolism going. Glad to say i have never drank fizzy drinks at all. i always lived water so that's one constant thing I don't need to change. Got veggie mince on cooking with passata and going to top it with mashed cauliflower and then some cheese. Smells good. Then some rhubarb with low carb yoghurt. Maybe try for gym to-morrow or brisk walk.Treat the Earth well,It was not given to you by your parents,It was loaned to you by your children.Masai proverb0

There is a book "Low carb Vegetarian" by Rose Elliot which may be helpful. Try Amazon or more money saving, your local library.0

I was on a liquid diet. I was working but I found it very expensive. I was always hungry, in a bad mood, and to be honest, I didn;t think my weight loss was better than any other diet.
So I am going for smaller portions of low-carb foods. I have 1 1/2 stone to loose. I wish I could loose it for Christmas. Wish me luck..............................................................................

Weighed myself this morning and I have lost 2lb already, needless to say I am very pleased. Today for lunch I am having a mushroom and bacon salad with olive oil and sherry balsamic vinegar dressing. For dinner I am having steak with cheese on top and broccoli. And I also bought a bar of the new Lindt Sea Salt dark chocolate (which is on offer at the mo in Morrisons) and I am allowed 1 to 2 pieces a day which I usually have in the evening with a cup of tea. My experiences with Atkins have been very positive. There are a good amount of different dishes I can eat (my fave is avacado and bacon salad). Also I think one of the hardest things is if you take sugar in your tea and coffee. The very first time I did Atkins I stopped taking sugar in my tea, it takes some getting used to but now I wouldn't drink it any other way! A good soft drink is Coca Colas caffeine and aspartame free coke but when I am at work I only drink water - I believe ASDA sell a cheaper version of the coke if you want to be a super money saver.
How is everyone else finding it so far? Any progress?0
