All of the recipe websites are American and they eat weird food. Is there anything UK-based ?

Join your local library. You can then search for library books on line - search on low carb and look at what they have. My favourites right now are The low-carb long term lifestyle by Carolyn Humphries and Rose Elliot's The Vegetarian Low Carb Diet.

When I first started I just ate protein plus green veg, but it gets a bit boring so after a while it is nice to look at other recipes. I often have salad or soup for lunch - today it was fresh salmon salad (reduced in sainsbury last night to 40p per fillet!)

Good luck - it's a great way to eat and you do lose weight if you follow the rules :-)

There are LOADS of recipes linked on page 1 (Mercy's recipes) which are UK based.

    Evening all!

Just dropping by to say everyone seems to be doing really well and welcome to the other newbies.

I have now lost 20lbs as of today and after a bit of a lull I seem to have gone back to losing 1lb a day again - I'll just have to watch what I eat over the weekend.

So I'm almost half way to my goal which is a great boost.

My latest yummy concoction which I'm addicted to is fried mushrooms with beansprouts and Quorn beef style strips, so a bit of a stir fry, lovely for all you veggies out there.

  • I got loads of cookbooks from the library. I don't tend to use more than 1 or 2 recipes from any books so waste of money to buy them all but nice to have a flick through and pick out some faves.

It's a good idea to get some meal recipe inspiration. I've found my meal plans after 56 days is getting a bit 'samey', not that I don't enjoy what I'm eating, ultimately I know what is in it and there are some things I could eat every day!! w/c 8 November I'm due to start the gradual increase of my carbs above 20g a day, I'll need inspiration then!

There's an interesting article in the Daily Mail today-
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1323758/Can-cutting-Carbohydrates-diet-make-live-longer.html

Yesterday I took some home-made soup with me for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Have also started to make egg and mayo in the evening for breakfast the next day - being organised makes this so much easier.

I bought some 'substitute' pepperamis yesterday and they are yeugh - taking them back to the supermarket for a refund and need to get some proper ones instead.

Sorry to not be around so much but work takes me away a lot, hopefully that will change shortly as I'm a bit weary of charging up and down the motorway twice a week. However, am off on hols at the end of this week, first for some relaxing chilling time up north and then heading from some sun for a few days. Will be adding some unwanted but very welcome liquid carbs :o

Tonight will be some philly stuffed inside chicken and wrapped in bacon. I make them up and freeze them, not meant to be good for the cream cheese but once it's cooked it works just fine. Made a whole load of assorted soups the other day and froze them in individual portions - carrot and coriander, pea and mint (not the lowest carb veg but delicious) and leek soups. Then I add some form of meat to them during the heating up time - chopped up sausage, cooked ham etc.

Hope all are both well and doing well.
