Hi
I was on Atkins just after New Year until May and lost 35 lbs:j
Unfortunately, I have now put 15lbs back on:mad:
I would like to join in, but need to do an Atkins friendly shop, and won't be able to get into town until next week.
Am going to try and cut back and just calorie count until then, but as I've got older, find I only get any significant weight loss with Atkins.
Will look in on you all until next week, and it would be great to join in then if that's ok0 -
The more the merrier!
Just had some protein powder and a large coffee. Now have to head south again until Friday so will be eating breakfast in the hotel (easy one, bacon and egg) and other meals will have to be sorted out properly.
Hope everyone is doing well.0 -
I'm doing a three egg cheese omelette tonight. I do a good omelette plus its easy when you can't be bothered!
Gers > Good luck with eating out for the rest of the week.0 -
hi ya ! i started doing this yesterday and survived ! can not believe it, i never dieted before, i am not good at it but i so need to go back to my old self.. it is being 3 years and can not go back to my normal weight.
Hopefully this will help me a bit... i will only do it till tuesday as i am going on holidays but i really wanted to try it to see if it works ( or i can do it)
So far no carbs for me today, and no headaches.. so dying to see if i have lost any weight.
I am so glad i am doing it ! cos i am the typical that has cereal in the morming, then toast then pasta or rice for food.. every single day... and now i am not eating carbs and ok at the mo. !!!Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -
Just reporting in to say that I've been doing my vegetarian version of this diet and have lost 17lbs in 4 weeks so I am well pleased with my progress.
I admit that I tend to eat the same things on a daily basis but that suits me just fine because it means as a busy working mum I know exactly what I will be making for my food.
An example of a typical weekday would be :-
Scrambled eggs (2) and a couple of medium sized tinned tomatoes. Sometimes i have fried eggs and sometimes I have mushrooms as well, just depends on the time I have. This is breakfast.
Lunch would be a boiled egg salad from work or I sometimes make my own egg mayo and have a tomato with it.
Dinner tends to be 2 fried eggs, 2 vegetarian burgers from Mr T's, fried mushrooms if I can be bothered and 2 medium tinned tomatoes. Yummy lol.
If I find I need a snack then a small piece of cheese ( and I mean small as if I eat the allowance I stop losing) or I pop a couple of vegetarian hot dog sausages in the micro, they only take a minute or so and are really tasty.
At the weekend I tend to make a chilli and it keeps me going for a couple of days.
Once I'm closer to my target I'll try to be a little more adventurous I promise lol
Forgot to add my drinks, I have tea with semi-skimmed milk but I have cut these down to three cups a day, otherwise I drink Pepsi-Max, herbal teas, or if I have to - water (not keen on this though)
I have alcoholic drinks on a Saturday night but find I am not able to drink as much as I used to which is a good thing.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Hi Guys,
Please may i join in on this thread? I started a low carb diet last sunday at 14st 11 and weighed in at 14.5 and 3/4 today so have lost 5lb in week 1.
I have been posting daily on another thread and then have just realised that there is a specific low carb thread.. so if its ok I'll post on here.
I have decided to go all out to get 3 stone off by christmas and have completetly cut out potatoes bread rice and pasta from my diet - the biggest difficulty has been pasta as I love it but have done well this week. Have just come back from lunch out and not had any carbs ( at least i don't think so - i have a sneaking suspician that the hummous with my salad may count as carbs... ) but i'm not following a plan as such - just trying hard to monitor calories as well as have few carbs and also exc exersize.
I have not done any excersize for years so have started right at the basic level of walking for 30 mins everyday - which i have done since Sunday last week. Today I have increased to an hour walk - in 2 30 min blocks and a 30 min swim. ( i just walked to the gym and back which is why is was 2 lots of 30 mins.
My plan this week is to continue with the walking as I have found that it has helped my mood too as I suffer from depression and anxiety and have felt very positive all week. I also plan to swim 3 times ( today being number 1) before next sunday.
I'm goign skiing in March and obviuosly need to really increase my fitness level if i am to enjoy the holiday. I have bought the app that eric reccomended and have found it fantastic for loggin my excersize and my food intake..
I'm off to my mums for tea but plan to have a very smal amount as I'm not long since back from lunch.
Tonight I'm goign to have a mooch through this threas and see what meal ideas i can steal!!
see you later

Hi all im new here.
I did atkins after the birth of my son 8 years ago and went from a 16 to a 13 in a few months.
I am now 18-20 and want to get back down. I am starting in the am, any hits and tips would be great thansk.Shut up woman get on my horse!!!0 -
Top tips from when I started, clear the kitchen cupboards, fridge and freezer from any temptations, meal plan and read the book! Whether its Atkins, Dukan or GI reading up makes life alot easier, especially when starting to reintroduce carbs and trying to maintain the weight loss. Good luck!0

I also have a question for those knowledgable fellow lc'ers! I'm nearly at my target and I'm just going to have to treat myself! I'm not talking a binge but I'd really like a dessert next time I'm out to dinner. What will happen to me?! I appreciate it will knock me a bit and I'll have to make sure I stick to my meal plans after to get back on track but I'm not going to keel over am I?0

Morning LCers old and new!
Been MIA as work has taken me away a lot recently but I have been good (or nearly good as hotel life is difficult) and am moving on down still. Oh, and we had a very posh dinner out on Saturday night which entailed me having a bit of excellent wine and a delicious but carby pudding. The main course was the best venison I've ever tasted - not many vegetables as it was the 'big plate - small amount of food' place!
I tend to stick to the same meals generally as I can rely on it being correct though I do eat more cheese than is good for me. It's just so easy and so tasty!
The protein powder is good for those times when I can eat by myself but don't want to have a huge meal - especially good when I'm in an hotel without any other colleagues and I don't want to have dinner in the restaurant by myself. I just pack a couple of containers with the measured powder and add water when needed. :j
BFB - there are loads of LC puddings listed on page 1 which should give you an idea of what to eat, think anything heavy on the cream side should be fine!0
