Is it OK if I come back? I've fallen off the wagon big time and haven't lost nor put on weight, but I really need to lose some, my BMI is now 28.2 and I'm really stressed about it. I promise I'll be a good girl and eat properly and not have carbs (except the odd rice cake if I'm peckish)

    ** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **

I do it all because I'm scared.

At least you've not put anything on, just starting from where you left off. Good luck :)

  • landprofits - I make a pizza base with oatbran but don't know about any shop-bought products.

Can you buy low carb shop bought products?

Yes - what they taste like I don't know - but I intend to find out. If you search for "low carb pizza base mix" or something you should find them.

There is a product called "carbquick" which is a low carb baking product and can be used to make, amongst other things, pizza bases - I don't yet know if it is available in the UK.
  • Oooo - I found some great recipes for a cauliflower based pizza base that I might be able to adapt to suit me. It is amazing how inventive people get to avoid carbs isn't it!!

How often does everyone else weigh themselves? I have been weighing myself every morning but I find that it if I haven't changed then I get a bit glum about it. Maybe I should weigh in less often?

Argghhhh - just had a text from Domino's Pizza

weighing yourself everyday is defiantly a recipe for self demotivation, regardless of what you do your body weight changes naturally all the time and we can make it change without even being aware, a one of meal with a higher than normal salt content will cause you to retain extra water for a day or two as can a muscle injury or a viral infection.

ideally the best way is once a week, at the same time on the same scales in the same place, ideally first thing in the morning, nakid, before you eat and drink (a mug of tea weighs 0.6lbs) anything and after your ablutions. The most important thing thou is consistancy, always the same procedure for weighing in to try to remove as many variables as you can.

even then you still get fluctuations, last week i lost 1.5lbs, this week 6.0lbs, i suspect i was just carrying some extra fluid at the previous weigh in
  • Thanks for that Eric - I do try to remove all variables but then I wonder things like 'does it matter if I have wet hair?'

I guess you can overthink these things :rotfl::rotfl:

I always weigh with dry hair just to be sure lol.

I weigh most days too but I only count my Monday morning weigh in. If I see I've put on anything on other days it sort of spurs me on to try better that day. I only allow myself to get disappointed if I've gained on the Monday.

it will do, and if you sit in a bath for an hour your skin will absorb some water, it doesn't matter so much as long as your consistent, my chain and glasses add weight to me but as i always wear them its a constant and wont affect the weekly weight, and being as blind as a bat i wouldn't be able to read the result :rotfl:
  • Hi,
Today is my second day of Atkins and so far so good. I have just been scouring the net for some nice recipes and came across the MIM muffin in a minute
It calls for a product called flaxmeal? I have never heard of this where do i get it from. I checked asda today and they done have any? I was told you have to get seeds and grind them to make it like flour but I dont want to have to grind it as i have not got a grinder. Can you buy it ready done?
    thanks

I'm pretty sure it's just ground flax seeds and I've bought ground flax seeds from Holland and Barrett once. Supermarkets might stock them too.
