Fab loss, well done and keep it up...
  • narabanekeater - I am doing the Dukan Diet, which has been developed by a French Doctor over a number of years.

Basically it is a No Carb, No Fat, Pure Protein, 'Safe' Veg diet which goes in different phases - briefly outlined below.

Attack Phase - Typically 5 days to begin with. You can ONLY eat:

Lean Meat - Beef, Chicken, Turkey, Veal, Ham (less than 5% fat, not smoked), Offal
Fish - fresh or tinned (not in oil), Prawns,
Eggs - only 2 yolks per day, as many whites as you can eat.
Zero Fat Dairy - yoghurts (but not fruit yoghurts), cottage cheese, fromage frais (plain)
    Skimmed milk
    Sweetener not sugar
Any diet drink other than lemonade (less than 1 calorie)

But you can eat as much as you want.
You MUST eat 1 1/2 tablespoons Oatbran per day (I make mine into a pancake)
You MUST drink at LEAST 1 1/2 litres of water a day (but this can be in tea or coffee or in diet drinks)

Cruise Phase - same length as attack. You can eat everything above and you add 23 vegetables.

Basically any salad and lots of different veg. Notable exceptions peas, sweetcorn, potatoes (obv).

Again, eat as much as you want and you MUST have 2 tbs Oatbran and 1 1/2 litres water per day.

Alternate between the 2 stages above in whatever lengths you want (supposed to be equal so 1 and 1, 2 and 2, 5 and 5 etc.) until you reach your target weight.

There is then a Consolidation and Stabilisation Phase but I am not there yet! I have read a bit about Consolidation and it gradually introduces carbs and sugars by adding 1 portion per week of potatoes or rice or pasta; 2 slices wholemeal bread a day; 1 piece of fruit a day, 1 celebration meal a week (where you can eat WHATEVER you want for starter, main and dessert as long as you are not gluttonous and don't have seconds!) but I don't know a great deal about it yet.

I am doing a slightly inequal but suits my lifestyle Mon-Thurs on Attack (pure protein) and then Fri-Sun on Cruise (Protein + Veg) and it is working for me, it is amazing how inventive you can be when you are limited on what you can eat.

The book is £4 in Sainsburys. There is a Dukan Official Website but you have to subscribe. There are a few recipe websites and there is a Facebook Group which is helpful.

Hope you can follow this. If you stall you go back into Attack for a full 5 days to get you shifting again....there is a chapter on stalling but I havent read it yet sorry :o

Hello all, i used to be on here but moved to the general diet thread.

Found these in home bargains for 29p (half price)
Soya beans in a mediterranean tomato sauce.

    images?q=tbn:MiSik14TAW7O2M:l

5.9g carbs per 100g, they're just like usual baked beans but the sauce is slightly different, very yummy.
I'd have loved them when i was low carb.
If they're in home bargains they prob havent caught on and assume they wont be readily available, so stock up.
  • Ooo - it all went quiet - did I scare everyone away?

I thought I would post and give you a laugh...

I had a job interview this morning, my first interview for 8 years and I was very nervous...

I took a slice of bread with me 'just in case'. God knows why but it offered me some comfort :o

I didn't eat it, it is still in a sandwich bag in the car, I just needed something incase I wanted a bit of a boost :o

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I am pretty sure that this post will be the death of the low carb thread - the weirdos have invaded :D

Aaaaah, interviews are nervewracking, hope the bread brought you luck.
I have been doing the Dukan diet for 7 whole days (which is the longest I have kept to a diet without going off on the rails for a long time.) I am finding it quite easy to do. Even went out for lunch today and I just ordered chicken and salad while they all had garlic bread etc.
I like in the book he talks about the difficulty older women can have losing weight and I can really relate to that. Since I have hit 40 I think I have given up most diets as I don't see the scales moving.
I have now lost 6lb and and have been exercising every day. I am only 12lb away from what he says my true weight should be.

Have always loved Atkins but just don't seem to lose weight on it anymore.

Been catching up with all the chat here - have to say it all sounds fabulous!

I've been away a lot for work and just about to head out again for 4 days in 2 different hotels, then a weekend away up north and then another 5 days away from home for work. It's a bit manic.

My only downfall is a glass of wine at night :o but have stopped that since I discovered I may have arthritis in my left knee so the need to lose weight has changed from a vanity thing to a health thing - damnit!!

Had some raspberries and cream for brekkie, needed to clear the fridge out.

I'll be reading from afar and really hope that all the good work continues.
