this list puts fruit into groups based on how much carb they have in them

Ooh thanks that was v useful. I hadn't realised cherries were in the high list, somehow with berries being OK I think I had a subconscious 'if its small its OK' sort of feeling - not very bright!
I'm a not very regular poster but it wasn't me!!! I'm also only on a moderate low carb carb regime and lost over a stone and a half in about a year and have kept all but a few pounds off for about two years. I agree that something you can stick to long term is the best option (having yo-yo'd for years) although I keep being tempted to go for a period of much stricter carb control to see if I can shift another 1/2-1 stone.
In terms of ideas do have a look at the very first page of this thread for a link to Mercy's recipie post which is FANTASTIC!
I can highly recommend the Mexican Fudge which I made to take to the airshow with some friends Saturday and even they (non-LCers) loved. Also Mazzers Lazagne which I haven't done for a bit but is lush. Best of all (IMO) for when you are feeling naughty
Totally the best chocolate sponge in a low carb stylee EVER!

which I also took Saturday, and the non-lc friends liked them better than normal carb chocolate muffins!
Must go as I should be getting ready for work.0 -
Thanks for your advice and help, and it even has links for me.0

Welcome here Donny-Gal.
I really am no expert, others are, but from what I see you need to increase the amount of fat in your diet. It relies on low carb, high protein and high fat. I also find that increasing the amount of water I drink helps enormously, although it's' common to reach a plateau or stall sometimes. From what I've read one remedy is a 3 day meat feast -but please... I'm not an expert on this!
Breakfast is the tough one, I agree. At the moment I'm having a whey protein powder shake each morning as I too got a little fed up with bacon and eggs. In it I put some berries just to flavour it up.
The eggy muffins work too and they can be frozen. Think SD is having scrambled eggs with mushrooms in the morning. Recently I've been making up hard boiled eggs with mayo and then some other flavouring (tomatoes, bacon bits, herbs etc), enough for a couple of days, and keeping it in the fridge.
Hope this works for you.
Today I've had my breakfast. Lunch will be some defrosted bolognaise sauce with shredded pointed cabbage and some cauliflower. Evening meal to be decided.
Things are getting tougher but I don't want my waist to get any bigger!
Hmmm - I was going to say the opposite...reduce the fat but I guess that depends on what low carb you are following. I am doing Dukan which is a no carb, no fat, no sugar diet so cheese, any carbs and fruit is a no-no for me.
The reason I mention it is because Dukan has an 'Attack' Phase which is the default everytime your diet stalls to give your body a kick back into weight loss. 'Attack' is a pure protein diet which sounds similar to the 'meat feast' you referred to.
I am currently doing Monday to Thursday on 'Attack' so pure protein and then Friday to Sunday on 'Cruise' which introduces veg (albeit a little limted).
I have lost just under a stone in just under 3 weeks with a little relaxation last weekend- was hoping to make it to a stone in 3 weeks but it looks like I may miss out.
If anyone is interested I could give a little more information...?please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Fell off big time this weekend, in fact I went out for a quiet drink on Friday evening and didn't get home until Sunday afternoon
MFD, I'm going to steal that idea and try zero (or V low at least) carbs Monday to Thursday combined with some cardio/weights, then have a limited fall off Friday to Sunday. That way, since I'm expecting it, I wont feel like I've ruined the whole thing on a Monday morning, hehe.
I'm full of admiration for you lot who are on extremely strict regimes, it takes a lot of willpower, but more so a lot of organisation - something I'm struggling with at the moment with my current workload. We'll get there though0 -
Organisation is the big thing redman. Hubby is low-carbing with me so I am preparing breakfast and lunch for 2 each evening (after I have prepared our evening meal). He is pretty much living off salad which is fine but a bit of a faff to prepare.
I seem to be constantly shopping and preparing! And whilst hubby used to cook occasionally or we would get take away I am now having to do all the meals (hubby's cooking skills are basic to say the least, he has taken over the ironing to compensate though :T).
We were discussing over the weekend that we could go out to eat and have steak and salad without breaking the diet so we will probably look at doing that sometime soon.
We have been drinking Gin and Slimline tonic at the weekend instead of our usual wine or lager. Although we haven't had very many of those this weekend either.
I think you have to allow yourself a little bit of leeway, otherwise it is too easy to fall off and not get back on.
Sounds like you had a fab weekend though!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
I'm with you on the constant shopping - I've never done so much food shopping! I always seem to have a mountain of washing up to do as well. And it's not like I didn't cook before either, but now with breakfast and prepping lunch for work...
It's all good though - means to an end and all that!0 -

MFD!!! WAY TO GO!!! Well done on the loss! :j:beer: Low carbing really works if you stick to it. A stone in 3 weeks is great going. I bet you feel better too.
I only wish I'd visited the thread about an hour ago (before I poured a glass of red & scoffed some (horrible) tortilla chips. I'm only on day 2 of my re-start. Damn my will-power...Didn't have a plan for tea, went to sainsbobs (hungry) & ended up with crisps & wine. Gah! Re-start tomorrow...

Another 9oz off yesterday - I am loving itI look forward to weighing myself each morning!
Although this morning was comical - I am glad there was nobody there to see me.
I weigh myself in the morning when I go down to make a coffee. I put the scales in exactly the same place on the wooden floor in the hallway, aligned with where one board ends...and (TMI) I take my dressing gown off so I am naked.
But I am blind as a bat without glasses or contacts and this morning I forgot to put my glasses on...so I lined the scales up and crouched down to switch them on and set them to my setting (our scales calc body fat based on how tall you are and has different settings for ne and hubby) then I stood up and stood on the scales and guess when it had stopped flashing so I could jump off and crouch down to look at the weight!
The weight only stays on the screen for a few seconds before it tells you your body fat so it took me a few attempts of jumping up and down to get it right - good job the postie wasn't delivering - he would have got a right eyeful!!!
Next time - run your lazy a$$ upstairs to get your glasses you silly old moo!!!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
