Heya everyone, I think I'll join in with this thread as I'm reducing my carbs/going for low GI options. I'm also going to make an attempt to get more active, I've been doing more exercise over the past couple of weeks but I need to get it into a better routine

I've set myself a 6 week challenge from today to lose as much weight as possible or at least a stone as I've got a fancy 'do' to go to in 6 weeks. I need to lose more than a stone in the grand scheme of things but I'm breaking things down into smaller challenges to keep it interesting.

So that's it for now, hope everyone has a good week :) x

  • Hi guys,

I think I need to go read the chapter about stalling :o

Jumped off the wagon a couple of times last weekend - firstly to have ribs and hot and sour soup from the chinese on Friday night (no carbs to speak of in either of those but not allowed on Dukan) and managed to scoff about 9 prawn crackers as well!!

Then we ate out twice on Sunday, firstly with my parents for lunch where I had chicken and bacon salad with honey mustard dressing (not supposed to have bacon or dressing on Dukan) and then in the evening I had Cajun Salmon Salad which was fine but had 2 pints of lager which wasn't

I also had 4 gin and slimline tonic over the weekend so all in all I was pretty bad!! But not as bad as I could have been
I didn't dip below the stone lost mark though :)

Hiya adaw - nice to see someone else doing Dukan. How are you finding it? Well done on the exercise! I have to say that is one are which I am failing miserably at, although I am parking in the furthest corner of the car park and walking up the 4 flights of stairs to my office rather than taking the lift which is an improvement on before.

How are you eating your oat-bran?

Well day 1 went well for me, pretty easy and just have to get through the rest of the week now. Can anyone point me in the direction of some good packed lunch ideas for work that aren't too much hassle? I'd normally take a sandwich with me that can be thrown together in a few minutes in the morning so any quick ideas would be appreciated :)

  • purplerose - I am taking boiled eggs and ham slices for breakfast (which I eat in the car on my 40 mile drive to work!) and then I try to have some meat and some fish at lunchtime. So a chicken breast and some crabsticks or some sliced roast beef and some tuna. I miss the altogetherness of a sandwich but I am finding that 2 different tastes is like 2 different courses so it works.

On my veg days I take a tupperware pot of salad.

I was talking to a friend who has been low carbing the other day and she said that she made sandwiches out of iceberg lettuce (instead of bread) and that worked for her.

Make lunches the night before for ease :D

Hi folks - am back briefly and got an empty fridge. Dug something meaty out of the freezer so that should do it.

Have been very good (almost) whilst away but really am out of a proper/good routine so need to back into that.

Probably am maintaining rather than losing but I'm OK with that. :o No real problems except those brought about by work and too much travel, and of course being tired so much as I don't sleep well even in the best of hotels.

Keep on doing the good stuff!!

    Hi guys,

    I

Hiya adaw - nice to see someone else doing Dukan. How are you finding it? Well done on the exercise! I have to say that is one are which I am failing miserably at, although I am parking in the furthest corner of the car park and walking up the 4 flights of stairs to my office rather than taking the lift which is an improvement on before.

Sorry took so long to reply.
Been on Dukan diet just under 2 weeks now and gone from 11 stone 11 lbto 11 stone 2lb. Made up as despite going on other diets the weight wasn't shifting.
Still very motivated. Going to the gym at least 3 times a week and doing heavy weights and 20 minutes intense cardio. Dukan said somewhere on the internet that for 60 hours after exercise your metabolism is raised so the exercise may also be contributing to the weight loss.
Great that all my old clothes are beginning to fit again.

I do intend to make the oat bran galettes and other recipes out of the book but at the moment just have cooked in microwave with water and then add unsweetened soya milk to make it creamier. Actually enjoying it now.

I lost loads of weight on low carb Atkins in my 30's but this diet is the only way I have lost significant weight now that I am in my 40's.
Would def recommend if like me you are following traditional low carb yet not seeing the weight come off.
  • Well I finally bit the bullet and got back on the Wii fit last night. I hadn't been on for 443 days  which would be about mid-May when my son was maybe 8 or 9 weeks old.

I am 6lb heavier than I was 8 weeks after giving birth _pale_ This statement makes me feel slightly sick but I am SO glad that I didn't get on the Wii Fit BEFORE I lost the 17lb 6oz that I have managed to lose so far.

Will try to go on regularly now, even if it is just to do a spot of hula hooping with the kids.

Today I just feel very sad that I have let myself get this way :(

I'm struggling a bit last night and today. Last night I kept picking at food and today I seem to be in the same mood. I'm not craving anything in particular but seem to want to eat more. I keep telling myself it's all in the mind and going for water or tea instead of food. Just need to distract myself I think.

  • Keep at it purplerose - just think of your do in 5 weeks time and how much better you will feel at it for not carrying those extra few pounds. 5 weeks is not a long time in the grand scheme of things. xx
