Morning folks
Had my chicken, cup of tea and about to have my supplements. Had the remants of some almost wilted salad last night with some egg mayo, crumbled crispy bacon and a little cheese.
Lunch will be some home-made carrot and coriander soup :j and evening meal, as usual, will be determined later.
Energy levels are rising, feet are shrinking(always first sign of weight loss for me) and am feeling good. My day ahead is busy so heading off to shower and get ready.
Happy LC to everyone.0 -
Good morning folks.
Hope you don't mind me joining in. I really wanted to post an excerpt from 'Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution' book which I've dug out and dusted off.."The Rules of the Induction diet
1...
2. You are no longer on a quantitative diet....
3. You are, however, on a qualitative diet. This means that if the food is not on your diet, you are to have absolutely none of it. Your "just this one taste won't hurt" rationalization is the kiss of death on this diet. Addicts will find this rule builds character in a hurry.
..."
Eating 'naughty' stuff makes us want more naughty stuff.. vicious circle.
I've started my day with a creamy decaf coffee and a GG crispbread with Countrylife butter and Tesco full fat soft cheese.. won't be having that again in a hurrybut it filled a hole.
Have a good day0 -

They also change if you stand further forward or back, or to one side of the other. I use the Wi-Fit when at home as it keeps over a 12 months graph so you can see your progress or not!!!

Signing on to give this a blast for a couple or four weeks at least. I've been meaning to cut my bread/pasta/rice (all brown/wholemeal versions) down for a while now - along with my lager intake of course
So yesterday, I read a little on here, and a few other forums, picked up a few recipies/tips and I'll have a crack. I'm not carrying *that much* extra timber, although I've probably put a stone on since this time last year, and maybe 1.5 stone over my ideal fighting weight
2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 eggs for yesterday's evening meal. Breakfast was 1 poached egg and a small bowl of natural yoghurt. Today's lunch has been some tuna with diced up cucumber and mayo.
It's a little odd right now, I don't feel hungry per se, or lack energy, but there's like a nagging addiction like feeling hanging in the back of my mind, similar to when I gave up smoking but not as strong. guess that's the craving for carbs eh. Feeling good although I'm a bit worried about the stinky breath ketosis hehe!. Any advice, recomendations greatly received!0 -
Woah... hit the energy slump yesterday afternoon, big time! Was an 'interesting' time just feeling my energy ooze out of me, lay down for 5 minutes at 8.00p.m. and woke at 6.00a.m. still in my clothes  Of course now I feel energised again!
Redman - best thing you can do is to read stuff on this very long thread, all of those who had real knowledge are away somewhere else. I tend to re-read pages when the going gets a little tough, however the only problem I find is that I want to feed my brain the rubbish stuff whilst my body is perfectly happy being sugar/carb free. Sometimes I miss the texture of some foods (like, especially, marshmallows for instance) but know that if I do satisfy the whim I will remain fat and put my progress towards less-fatness back a hundred steps. People are already commenting on my minute loss of accumulated fat so it's worthwhile, though not just for other people but for myself!
This morning I've had a couple of pieces of cheese and a chicken drumstick (be glad when they are finished and got thighs waiting in the fridge) along with my supplements.
Lunch will be on the road but got the car stocked with pepperamis (bit salty but keep me on track) and then another evening meal in an hotel tonight. Am away until tomorrow evening - breakfast in hotel will be fine (bacon and eggs) and lunch at meeting will be too.
Hope all those lurkers are doing well too.0 -
I don't just want to, I have to lose weight, I have arthritis in my right hip and both knees, I need to lose 4 stone.
Several people have told me about a low carb diet, which sounds fine, except what do you do if you are cooking spag bol, what do you have in place of the spag, likewise I have porridge and 1 slice of wholemeal toast and coffee for breakfast....what do I replace the toast with, are you not allowed to eat any carbs, or just a few...help!!!!!!
We are both pensioners and do not have a lot of money to throw about. I have cut out the mid afternoon, cake, just have a cup of tea. I do buy or grow quite a bit of fruit and vegetable, so plenty of fresh fruit etc........but we have pasta a couple of times a week. usually with salad or a baked potato........I cannot afford to join a slimming club, to be honest I find those clubs very boring......I have a pair of weightwatcher scales which is handy. I was 13st 8 before we moved, having weighed myself recently I seem to have lost a stone.......
Hello Csarina
Just a few suggestions. 'What do you have in place of the spag' you ask. Well, you could try having LESS of it!
Also, if you're having porridge for breakfast, do you need toast AS WELL? Porridge is very filling - if I have porridge I don't need anything else.
Pasta with salad AND a baked potato? Again, either/or. Potato OR pasta, you don't need both.
I agree with you about the tea with cake. You don't need the cake!
Having said all that, you don't seem to be having much protein. How about your wholemeal toast with a boiled egg? Also, a small amount of grated cheese with your baked potato and salad?
Have a look at this: www.weightlossresources.co.uk
Try keeping as mobile as you can - there are chair-based exercises you can do: see Leanne Grose http://www.leanneschairworkout.com/leanne.htm

Thanks Gers, I'll have a good browse through this ridiculously big thread at work
Oh, and if people are commenting then it must be working eh!
I'm enjoying it at the moment, but I'm a confirmed meat eater anyway, and love cheese - although I've never eaten as many eggs before!0 -

Hi Csarina, best advice I can give is put aside a few days and read this thread. This is a diet that take a while to get your head round at the beginning and you need to plan a bit before it becomes 2nd nature.
I've been lowcarbing for about 18 months now, and I don't have much spare cash either but you can do it.
I've found I replace most carb elements of a meal (pasta, chips, potatoes) with home-made coleslaw and/or roasted butternut squash. They seem to be my replacements and are are fairy cheap. Don't even miss chips now and never thought I'd say that!
Beware the fruit tho, not all is allowed on lowcarb, just berries are allowed really.
Brekkie is usually a boiled agg, tomato and some cheese.
Lunch soup or salad and some form of meat.
Eveningmeal, whatever I make for the family but replace the carb bit with coleslaw/or BNT
Weekend treat, peanuts.
Thats it basically. Good luck!0
