been to mr T today and noticed the full fat greek yog has more carbs than the fat free and same with the processed cheese slices. why is that ? I thought the lower fat ones had more carbs and thats why we shouldnt have them

That's the theory but i spose thats why we should always check labels.
Get the Lidl greek yog, its really lc and is fab, £1.99 for a litre bucket :)

    Hi all,

I was wondering if I could join you?

I've just recently started low carbing (second week now) and have spent the last few weeks reading the old thread, and this one. I have read IPD and brought the cook book, but am not following that strictly as Im a type 1 diabetic so need more carbs that Atkins or IPD recommend.

I'm finding the change a lot easier than I thought, I'm enjoying drinking water and eating foods I never thought I would enjoy (namely veg) and have lost 4lbs in the first week.

From what I have read so far I think you're all doing brilliantly, the information on this thread is great and knowing people are doing the same things as me is a real motivational tool.

There are some inspirational stories in these threads, I can't wait till I start looking and feeling more healthy.

Antony Worrall Thompson has done a couple of diebetic diet books so they might give you some hints on how to manage your food and insulin. Check with your local library.

    welcome

have you read Richard bernsteins - diabetes solution? he is a dr and is type 1 and he advocates low carb , there is a huge section on type 1's and insulin , its a really interesting read , he claims to reduce insulin requirements but also diabetic complications ( even reversing them in some cases)
    definitely worth a look :D

Morning all. Feeling quite good today, I climbed that hill again yesterday and expected my muscles to be even sorer today but nope, I got out of bed like a wee spring lamb this morning. :D I wish I could 'get into' exercise seriously, it does make you feel better, it's just such a chore to get going iyswim. I think I'll just make hill walking my method of exercise, I'm kidding myself about going to the gym, I hate the gym. :rotfl:

Got stuff to do today, need to go shopping for suitable icing stuff, finding that a bit of a pain tbh, I seem to stick to the same kind of things and it's getting boring. I'm also taping and filling all that plasterboarding that I finally got finished. No doubt that will take me weeks too at the stop start rate I'm going. :D I have no motivation, lol.

Meals today will have to include fish, before it goes off. Might make kedgeree for lunch. No idea what's for dinner....suggestions on the back of a postcard to.....:rotfl:

    Have a good day everyone.
Herman - MP for all! :)

We seem to share the same social life. Did a bit of gardening also and really struggled - so unfit. Had a really bad day yesterday and went off the rails for the first time in 6 months. Don't know what caused it so hopefully will get back on track today.

C'mon Always, you have been doing great, don't spoil all your hard work, it's not worth it & it will make you feel carp, mentally & physically (voice of experience here).

    Morning all :hello:

I want to know who this imposter is in our midst?! Someone climbing hills?? Again?! Wow alias, I am very impressed, mind you if I had gorgeous views nearby I think I'd be doing it as well!! Keep it up missus!! :D

We had a bbq last night, the weather was soooo gorgeous here, just puts me in a better mood (the wine probably helped there :D ) I did some gardening & general faffing around outside, unfortunately wouldn't have worked off anywhere near the calories I consumed at the bbq!! :o:rotfl:

Have a lovely Sunday everyone, has just started raining here. Bum.
