bit like the ketosis post above - if you had researched LC properly i think you would have know all about it and the effect it will have on your body - no offence intended
and also eric it concerns me a little that you seem to be concerned about the effects of lc on your body and your exercise but you seem to have gone into it a little blindly ? apologies if ive got that wrong xx

Don't worry you are not anywhere near ketosis if you are having a portion of chips everynight. Probably more like indigestion from the fruit acid taken before training. A small portion of chips is around 50 carbs and you need to go much lower to get ketosis. You have lowered your carb but fruit and chips take it out of the low carb limits. Hope this helps.
Been a beautiful but chilly day here. Didn't take any pictures but I'm sure most of you have seen inside an Asda which was the highlight of my day.0 -

except of course I am not on a LC diet and i am not trying to get ketosis, i am on a reduced carb diet but i still eat alot of carbs, today I have eaten 3 nanas 2 apples and 300g of rice over the day, and i eat carbs everyday over the whole day, last night i had 500g of potatoes, my understanding was that this was way to much carb intake to start the ketosis process which comes on over a period of time of a very high reduction in carbs.0 -

nope not in a million years, this was a very strong taste of acetone (was like drinking my wife's nail polish remover) it covered my whole throat and mouth for 30 mins during the exercise and took an hour or two to go, it was a constant for most of the time. I have had acid reflux in the past and never had anything like this. i have had fruit for breakfast for years, never ever had anything like it, i never even burp once after eating fruit, and i certainly didn't burp this morning, there was no gas and no acid reflux etc
and i eat 500g of chips
will have to see if i get it on friday on my next cardio session, but it is very weird that's for sure, I am on a pretty restrictive calorie intake which is just holding me above starvation mode and I burn 1200-1400 cals in a single training session so it could be possible that I never build up the 2000 calorie glucose store that we are supposed to carry and ran out half way through the session, but still very odd i think.
mind you i did read somewhere that we all go into ketosis every night anyway whilst we sleep?? so much contradictory information on the web about the whole thing ..
after reading some more there was 2 or 3 days at the end of last week when i was exhausted all the time, i couldn't train for crap, i thought i could taste walnut skins all the time and i was drinking double what i normally drink about 6l a day, at the time i though i had just shut my metabolism down by not eating enough, intriguing.0 -
Eric, get yourself checked for diabetes asap, ketoacidodis causes the acetone taste more so than ketosis.
I know the info online can be confusing but read the overview and symptoms here as it sounds like what you describe and is a very serious condition.
Drinking excess fluids too fast can also be dangerous as it can cause brain swelling.

mazzers i wrote a post that mirrors yours but deleted it as wasnt sure if it would be welcome
back on our first aid course we were told that if someone looked or sounded drunk but whos breath smelt of acetone they were possibly having a hyper/hypo

mazzers glad you arnt diabetic ,must be a relief do you know what your actual glucose measurements were?
Fasting have been between 6.1 and 6.9 so, just above normal first time and just below diabetes second time, dont know what they were two hours after the glucose but doc said i am producing insulin as it was cleared away.
Will phone for figures today if i remember (has to be between 2.30-3.30 and i usually forget)0 -
Bloody typical. After my weigh-in at Alizonne yesterday I weighed myself this morning on my own scales and I have finally lost the elusive couple of pounds I've been trying to get off for about a month. Except that I haven't started their diet yet so I'm effectively paying them for two pounds they didn't help me lose! Ha ha.
OH is making me a lamb curry tonight as my last supper before the packet horror begins. Very pleased that I haven't just binged in antici;pation of the diet; it bodes well I think. I hope no one minds if I continue to post on this thread, my head's doing low carb even if my body isn't!0 -

I drink 3-4 litres every day anyway (im 6' 2" and my target weight with 10% fat is 250lbs!) and have done for 20 years. I also push pretty hard on my cardio, 60 mins at an avg of 160bpm, I sweat a litre easy during this time.
Its not happened since in daily life and It didnt happen this morning during my strength training session which are not as intensive as cardio since you rest after every set.
im hypo so i check my blood sugars pretty regularly, my problem is they can get down to 1-3, never noticed them being high, i felt fine when i had the bog breath, in fact great. I feal great now.
im getting my bloods (fasting) done next week as part of a health check i have just had so if there is a problem im sure this will show them up
big hugs for caring0
