Low-carb diets support thread

Seemed to have stumbled into a diet discussion thread rather than low carb support. As have said before life is hard enough going against the dieting trend without getting slated in our safe area. We are all grown ups and I have lost weight this way and plan to stay on this. If others don't agree then they are entitled but perhaps someone should start a thread discussing the pros and cons of the many different types of diet and leave me and my bad breath to get on with it in peace.0

What persuaded me to go to low carb was to think back how my diet had changed over the years. I used to read a lot of magazines and follow all the health tips. Gradually over the years I introduced more pasta and started eating "healthy meals" like baked potatoes and gradually got fatter and fatter. I thought back to what I ate as a young person which was basically eggs at breakfast with toast, soup or salad at lunch time and meat and veg for dinner. Sweets, crisps and fizzy juice were weekly treats. I was a size 12 (which in those days was a lot smaller than today's 12) When I started cooking for myself I didn't follow my mum's old fashioned ways and ended up extremely overweight. I have followed a lot of different diets but this is definitely the best for me. The weight is coming off slowly and I can eat almost the same as the family. The time I struggle is when looking for treats but you can't have everything.0

this was because someone merged a thread where someone just asked about Atkins in DT into this thread. Not sure who...
Eg I woudnt have ever talked about SW in Atkins thread as the unlimited potatoes and pasta just aint relevant:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Hi everyone,
i did wonder what had happened to the thread at first  now see that something else has been merged so thats why it didn`t seem to make sense.
I`ve been a bit cheaty for the last couple of daysi shall cheat today too as its my bday but not too badly. Yesterday i ate a tiny amount of pasta just because it was there - right in front of me screaming "go on eat me i dare ya"
Todays downfall will probably be choccy and vodka, maybe wine too.
I`ve managed to put 2lb onso looking forward to getting it back off again in a few days
Later i shall update the freezer inventory, i tried to put some hm doggie food in there yesterday and it won`t fitneed to get something out to thaw and use up to make some room so tea tonight will probably be something that i`m not supposed to have.
Have a good day folks.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Yes, that really threw me too.
Anyway, I put on 2lb suddenly for no reason, but 1.5 of them have gone again just as unexpectedly. I'm going for my Alizonne appointment on Wednesday and will hopefully be on the plan by Friday (they have to do blood tests etc to make suer you're fit enough for it). I'm trying to lose another lb by then as I keep saying to myself, every pound lost by myself is another pound i don't have to pay them to help me lose! Still sticking to low carb and resisting the urge to pig out before the new start.
B: greek yog, berries, toasted almonds. Kabanos sausage
L: Chicken tikka and saladstuffed peppers

Happy birthday Sunny, have a good one. :T
I've felt hellish today so my restart hasn't happened. I've got a big red face and every now and then I feel shivery so there's something going on my bod is trying to fight off right now I think. I'm really not in the mood to think about doing anything other than shoving something on an oven tray and heating it up so although I'm with you all in spirit....that's about it!
OH was back at the gym today and is also doing his old calorie counting routine. It makes me sick how easily he does this. The gap between us is widening in more ways than one these days.I'm telling you, we need to go to fat camp!. :rotfl:

Another confused peep here, thought I was in a parallel universe for a minute  Talking of which, haven't seen or heard from Gers for ages??
Happy Birthday Sunny _party_ Hope you having a good one
My head is in la la land atm, too many things/issues going on so haven't re-started low-gi yet. I seem to have chocolate mania, can't get enough of it, preferably the bubbly stuffI'm going through a giant bar a day & suffering from the same [STRIKE]extreme smelly[/STRIKE] symptoms as daisy
Ok, gotta go, I need my Corrie fix, I'll come back & lower the tone a bit more later!!
