another atkins person here and like vik i have lost half my body weigh on atkins and stick to it now

to be honest any diet will stop working if u go back to your old way of eating after all thats what u got fat in the first place

as for eating out i dont find it a problem at all. burger places i just dont eat the bun, elsewhere i ask for potatoes to be replaced with more veg

it isnt really mainly meat thats the popular idea of it but when u read the book u will see there are planty of veg and salad included too

good luck and if u want more info do feel free to pm me

was a gorgeous day here clear blue skies no breeze and getting hotter - am loving my little convertible already this year !!

well felt ok today after yesterdays yukkness - didnt weigh tho....

had a HB egg then 2 decent sausages a few hours later for brekkie/brunch/lunch

then made a chicken curry and a chick pea and spinach curry - both extremely yummy and spicy - know chick peas not really lc but better than rice or naan !!

however have had a pitta and houmus and pate and am now sipping a large baileys.....

Me and the mrs did atkins when we lived in wales. I dropped a lot of weight fast , but tbh exercise is far better as you can eat what you want then!
  • Tried a very similar thing years ago and my breath smelt horrible, i had more headaches than usual and my doctor didn't like it when i had a urine test for something i cannot even remember for why now but the results showed high ketone levels.

" A diet low in carbohydrates and high in protein and fat can raise ketone levels in the blood which can then enter the urine ".

I used to have to test my urine to make sure the ketones were in a certain level anyway, that way i was mean't to know i was following the programme correctly.

I really shouldn't of done it, not with having reflux as a child on both kidneys, it wouldn't of done them much good.

I lost loads of weight on it, but it soon went back on, plus more. I just couldn't stick to it long term and it was a 'diet' and for me the word diet means something you do short term not long term.

Thats why i will never diet again and for me its why i am following weight watchers cos that isn't a diet to me cos its something i can follow long term.

I do my own low carb version...I only eat them in small amounts, and only with breakfast or lunch, then none for the rest of the day. Seems to be working with the gym :)
