mazzers I have started taking benfotiamine tabs (vit b1) I read on diabetes.co.uk that it can help with glucose control and painful feet, i have been taking it for a week and there is a definite improvement with my sugar levels, they are much better in a morning particularly :D got mine from amazon

Thanks for that, will get some, will also inform my sis as her levels are high too :)

There is quite a difference in carb levels between the 70% choc and the 85%, although the 85% isn't as nice you do get used to it ;)

happy friday - has a glass of icey rosay in hand - oops !!

normal brekkie but as mentioned was going out for lunch - well......

was going to our local that has had a recent makeover - in the past its had a fairly bland unexciting menu of your usual bung in the micro pub grub - baguettes burgers chips slightly ropey steaks gammon and egg pasta dishes fish and chips lamb shanks however there were pies and real dinners that came with veg so that was an option minus the carbs - you know the drill - but i would normally order a very over priced but uninspiring salad dry and have mayo on the side
anyway first time in today since the revamp and yes booze prices might be cheap but OMG there was not one thing on the menu i could order !! seriously not one thing !!
there was burgers steak hunters chicken ( bbq sauce ) fish in batter lasagne gammon jkt spuds and baguettes - not a hint of a veg or salad in sight !! the main courses came with frozen peas so even if i ordered a steak or gammon that would have literally been all i could have eaten - even if i had a burger and left the bun there was no garnish or salad or greenery at all

i had a tuna mayo baguette - was good and picked all the tuna out but whilst our plates sat there i picked at about half of half the bread - v cross with self but was hungry !!!

so have had a bowl of HM soup for tea and a chicken thigh with yoghurt and mint dressing

and going to have to either sit on hands sew mouth up or go to bed to stop me nibbling or being bad tonight - far too many temptations in fridge and cupboard !!!

  • Thanks for the links on the earlier posts-now I have something to watch! TV does nothing for me. I had annoying leg cramps day and night a week or so ago-lasted about 5 days. I was taking supplements-magnesium and pottassium to prevent this-but they were different from last time around-they were the whole leg-coudnt sleep-couldnt sit still-awful-then I stopped the supps and the pain went away!
Id also introduced a few more veggies so who knows what it was exactly! Well Ive had a few naughty moments but toaal loss since 29th March is 9 lbs so Im not complaining. I do find it can fluctuate 2lb from one day to the next as measuring in pounds is a big amount really-set your scales to kilos and its more accurate.(may be 1.3 kilos for instance rather than 3 pounds. Little things like that keep me happy! what appears to be 3 pounds may be just over 2 is my point!
At long last Im losing my preggers belly and sleeping better at night. Havent managed to kick the coffee but Im on decaf and now prefer it to the normal one but I only like lidls glenarom gold decaf-tried all sorts of coffee lately and rarely seem to enjoy them-thankyou Lidl!
Made a bolognese for tea just for me. 2 handfuls of minced beef, half an onion,a bit of worcs sauce,a tin of toms,an oxo cube and some dried basil. Made a nice change from my daily salads. No pasta. I did have a rich tea biscuit and a custard cream so tht was naughty but Im not beating myself up for it. Im looking better and feling good so thats fine!

  • Morning :hello:

Oh well, another WOE bites the dust :o

Haven't been able to get back into low-gi since we were away & I'm stuffing my face like it's going out of fashion :(

Hoping to start again on Monday or Tuesday when the school holidays are over.

Aw sweet, I was thinking you were getting on well and I was considering trying low gi myself.

Never mind pet, Monday is the start of a new week and it's going to be a good one for all of us. (I've been reading a book about being positive :rotfl:)

    LOL. Couldn't agree more.
My Dad is a chemist who spent years elbow deep in things they now won't let anyone touch at all. Whenever I see these scare stories I think of his attitude and the fact he's still pretty healthy at 76. If we avoided all the things that *might* be bad for us we'd have to live in bubbles and eat nothing!

Glad to hear that as I worked with some seriously nasty chemicals when younger. There is a long time gap before health is affected and that time would be about now.

Cloudy day here but at least it is still dry. Car is covered in a layer of dust, don't know if it is volcanic fallout or person next door going mad with power washer but should really be washed! Really need to tidy up house but can't be bothered.

    Have a good day all.

I wondered if anyone who is or has been on the Atkins diet would share their experience of it.

I am about to go back on the slimming world diet but read a little about Atkins and would like to find out more.

If you are on/have been on the Atkins did you take the supplements they recommend?

    Thanks
