Hi, I was pointed in the direction of this thread as I asked in the arms about the Atkins diet.
Do you take supplements/vitamins whilst on a low carb diet? Which would you recommend?
Thanks0 -

Thanks hanspan, used the link to youtube, very interesting trials (if a little tedious) :T
I need to come back to lc, but not just yet :cool:0 -
Lynz you sound like a bit of a yoyo dieter (many people are, there is a whole industry out there).
Consider this, every one I have met will give you a target of how much they want to lose, and often a timescale too (lb a week or 2lbs a week for the next so many weeks). How long has it been since you were last at the weight that you want to get to? Would it be feasible to take the same time to get back to that weight? Why not? :j
No Im not a yo-yo dieter, I just really shouldnt eat carbsbut I do :wall:
Once you have tried a low carb plan ( I dont know if you have) it is amazing how you feel, so much less sluggish, sleepy, no carb crashes etc. Sleep so much better, more "alive".
If you dont eat carbs, you dont want them. f you do , then they demand more and more and that keeps the blood sugar peaking and troughing
I now seldom eat bread at all ( maybe once a week?) and I cant remember the last time I ate pasta, as soon as eating it my eyes seem to closeEveryone in my family apart from me and my sister are diabetics, we are managing to stay away from it at the moment.
I am a size 10-12, so there isnt much in it, but I was going to the gym but have an injury that prevents it now and have got a bit porky.
Extraeasy isnt a diet it is just food combining for life- you can lose weight, ( my sister lost about 3 stone post baby weight) and managing the volume of "carp" you can still have crisps, cream cakes, everything. There is no denial of anything just a system of knowing what you have had and counting it. You can maintain on a number of "syns" as my sister has been doing for a few months. If you just want to maintain - you can.
I just need to get a bit of junk out of the house then I can start in earnest. I dont think eating more F&V will do me any harm at all anyway:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I am starting the slimming world red eating plan today but also plan to cut carbs and see if that helps to stop my food cravings.
How does the extra easy plan work? Is it a combination of the red/green slimming world plan?

Yes it is. It is definately more flexible than red or green - you can pretty much eat what you want really depending on how quick you want to lose I think you can have 15 syns a day on top of all the unlimited stuff.
You can have unlimited meat ( cut all fat off) and fish
UNlimited veg and fruit
unlimited eggs
unlimited vegetarian meat substitutes eg quorn mince / tofu.
unlimited fat free dairy products eg creme fraiche/ quark ( good for sauces) fat free cottage cheese/ yoghurts
unlimited carbs - but not bread- pasta/rice/couscous/polenta/potatoes/ other grains eg quinoa
usual tea/coffee/low cal drinks/ water obv/low cal squash
then an amount of healthy extras such as
breakfast cereals/ crispbreads/ bread /cereal bars/
dried fruit or canned fruit
processed soups such as tins ( although HM ones made from free items are free)
milk
other dairy
then your amount of syns on top of it.
The green booklet food optimising will help you enormously, as it lets you know the weights. You can get this from one of the consultants at a local group. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most?
