Mmmmmm, sounds yummy
Might have to give it a try.
I'm sure I've seen a recipe for granola in one of my cookbooks, could be Jamie Oliver?? Making it yourself could work out cheaper?? (I don't actually know what's in granola, I just like the idea of it)

i had whole milk ( i havent given it up) on mine , on the diabetes web site people were saying it made no difference to their blood sugar after eating the granola , but my sugar shot up  I am going to try it for breakfast and see what happens
btw it would be lovely sprinkled on greek yog and berries
Porridge seems ok for me, 7.8- 8.7 but wholemeal toast sent it to 11.7
I will try that granola tho.
I am soo tired i'm going for a nap, thank gawd i've got a week off next week.0 -

Morning all. Aliasjo, that's hilarious. Mine's not quite up to that being only five, but I'm sure he'd consider it a brilliant idea if he could spell!
Hacked off, pound back on this morning despite four days in a row of exercise, and seven days in a row with no booze, no choc, small portions. What's up with that? I know it's all par for the course with lc but it !!!!!! me off.
B: a cold sausage
L: out with friend at Prezzo. Probably one of their chicken dishes.no idea, up to husband.
I have a severe test later; got to make 80 cupcakes for tomorrow morning (a 40th birthday, getting good money for it though). The worst bit is when I get frosting on my hands - 40 years of licking the stuff off is quite hard to break out of. And I'm trying a new chocolate cupcake recipe, which means I need to taste it - please send willpower of steel to me to stop me chowing down the whole thing.
get some skull and cross bones and put them on your sugar and icing sugar..to remind you how bad when you are cupcaking....
good luck....put a mask on incase the icing sugar gets up your nose...does that count????carbs via the nose?:rotfl:0 -
This is the granola recipe I have used for years;
oil +honey melted together, stir in oats, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds and chopped nuts. Bake in oen (gas 1/275/140) for 1 hour, stirring frequently, until brown and crispy. Leave to cool stirring occasionally, once cool add wheatgerm and sultanas. Store in airtight container.0 -
Yum, this granola stuff sounds lovely, like baked muesli, dunno how i've missed that one.
Googled a few recipes earlier, doesn't sound very diet friendly tho, lc or otherwise.
I'm back to being really tired, dont know if it's my bg or what ( or just old age)
Not having much success with SW as lots of the things i would usually be allowed are a no no now because of my damn sugars.
Mind you, it's proved to me thats why i put on so much weight in the first place, the things i eat, have loved and eaten most ( and believed to be healthy) have raised them so high.
Wish i'd known before i got so fat!!!
One good thing tho, low cholesterol and calcium count fine0 -
fruity, that granola recipe does sound gorgeous
mazzers, just wondering if you've ever thought about following a diet that's suitable for diabetics?? Sorry, don't know enough about blood sugars & being IR, are you more likely to get Type 2 diabetes??
The diabetic website I was looking at the other day was really interesting & there was a very good forum with advice on keeping blood sugar stable, recipes etc.0 -
Ok, that's me just caved
Just had a roll & ham. I know that's not the end of it so will see you all after the weekend. Maybe.0 -
the problem with 'diabetic' diet that the NHS recommend is that it is high in carbs - about 55% I think which is fine if you arent diabetic *insert confused smilie*
carbs make my blood sugars go really high so eating 55% carbs a day wholegrain or not would send them sky rocketing:(
I find it all very confusing and after reading alot of posts on the diabetes forum , there seems to be a lot of variation in advice given to new diabetics from Drs and diabetic nurses .
I find low carbing the best WOE for me and I really dont miss bread, pasta and spudsand there is so much support on here too :A
