Been reading Dr Bernsteins articles and didnt realise the importance of drinking fluids
We really need to be drinking peeps, i know mercy has always pushed this but i didnt know why it was so important.
When you are dehydrated your bg goes up, and your body then makes you urinate to unload the glucose and ketones making you more dehydrated, therefore increasing blood glucose and making you urinate etc etc, a vicious circle.

    So get drinking :)

Not only should you drink, you should drink ice cold water. I can't remember why but it was a good reason. :rotfl:

Something about using more energy........will see if I can find the thing.....

Edit: Can't find the Men's Health sports page I saw this on but found this......

You'll burn an extra 200 calories a day by drinking eight glasses of ice cold water because...
Your body has to burn calories (or fat) in order to heat the ice cold water back up to your body temperature. The amount of calories you burn (and the weight you lose) will rack up over time as you drink Ice cold water everyday.
A German study says drinking about 2 extra glasses of water can boost your metabolism by 30% and they figure when you drink about 1.5 liters of water a day you'll lose an extra 5 lbs a year

  • Morning

Felt carp first thing this morning (weak as a kitten & soooo hungry :o) so didn't do my 30 minutes on the treadmill. Hopefully do it later today, or I might do an outside walk if I get chance, would actually prefer to do that anyway.

I drank loads of water yesterday :A Will try to keep drinking plenty, but I'm sick of going to the loo all the time!! :rotfl:

    Food for today:
    B - streaky bacon, 1 x fried egg, 2 x buttered lc crispbreads
    L - 2 x lc crispbreads with butter & cheese, BNS soup
D - salmon in watercress sauce, cauli mash, green beans

Need to get more lc food in today, think I'm going to need more to eat over the next few days until I'm in the swing of lcing again.

    Hope everyone doing ok.
  • How do peeps get their bacon to go lovely & crispy??
If I grill bacon it goes like cardboard & if I fry it it doesn't go crispy either.
Is there a certain type of bacon to use??
I'm after a 'crumbly' texture that you can sprinkle over soup.

Think i only need 9g protein per day, that cant be right surely, there is 20g of protein in an average chicken breast.

No, it's not right, more like 90g per day, couldnt find the calculator that sistercas mentioned, so worked it out myself, but think it was 1g for every kg of weight, not 0.1, although some say 0.8-1.8 depending on activity.. in my case, none :D

Or nuke it. I have a great bacon nuker thing, a sort of white plastic griddle that you can put in the microwave. My mother in law gave it to me and I ignored it for ages because I hate using the microwave to cook things, but she convinced me to have a go adn it actually does great bacon. REALLY quickly, which is a godsend int eh mornign when I'm trying to get my son ready for school and me ready for work. If you nuke a bit longer than you need it'll go crumbly. http://www.johnlewis.com/230636538/Product.aspx?source=14798
  • Morning lovely people! Welcome to the madhouse, Buffy. Newcook, on the Pig2Twig forums there's a sticky thread about IPD on a budget, which might be worth a look.

The sun is shining here, anyone would think Spring was on the way!

I've been googling protein requirements and got so many conflicting answers I just don't know what to believe.

    I'm starving!!

Went to bed hungry, as i didnt know what i could snack on (certainly not pepperamis :( )

Had my breakfast, and just had bacon, eggs, toms and mushies with two lc crispbreads but its just not filling me.

I need to have a good read of whats what.

Def a bit more energetic though.. atm anyway!

Rosy, i'm going to go with the 1g to 1kg of bodyweight as suggested by Bernstein.

I must eat more veg though, i think maybe that was my problem, filling up on protein and not enough veg.

Me too :( And I'm a bad-tempered moo because of it!!
I'm annoyed with peeps getting in my way in Tesco, I'm annoyed with the builders down the road who gawp every time I drive past & I'm annoyed with the speed camera police - I never speed but always feel guilty & angry that everywhere you go there's cameras watching & checking up on you!!
Beginning to wonder if I have a blood sugar problem :o Either that or I need to go to anger management courses!! :rotfl:

daisy & sarah, thanks for the bacon crisping info :) Really fancy crumbled bacon & grated parmesan on my BNS soup, as suggested by IPD book.
Which reminds me, thanks to rosy for the IPD on a budget info, I didn't know that. I must admit I haven't looked at that website for ages as I can't remember where I wrote my password down :o Maybe I should just re-register :D
