Oh, before i go, i didnt know i had high bg til i had a random test, it doesn't show itself for years, but you can get tested for free at Lloyds chemist.
Thanks for that info, not sure if we have Lloyds chemists but I'll have a google. Or maybe ignorance is bliss??I forgot how much it costs to low carb and now I cant afford itbooo!
It can be expensive, but could you try 101 ways with eggs & 101 ways with mince?! :rotfl: Seriously though, you could buy cheaper cuts of meat?? Lots of lovely egg recipes?? Pad out meals with low-carb veggies (frozen are just as good as fresh) etc.
I do understand though, I've found lcing difficult financially in the past, but I suppose if you add up the cost of all the cakes, chocolates etc I used to buy ...
Hope you work something out.
Anyway, I'm back!! :j Thank you alias for reminding me it's Monday, in your usual, subtle (as a brick) way:rotfl:
Had a busy start to the morning, 30 minutes walking on treadmill before brekkie, shower & then out for the day. Hoping to do the treadmill every morning (if I can be @rsed) as I really need to tone up my saggy bits!! :rotfl: Hoping it will have a beneficial effect on my state of mind as well, I've been really down in the dumps lately
Food for today:
B - 2 fried eggs on 2 buttered lc crispbreads
L - 2 lc crispbreads with butter & cheese, BNS soup
D - coriander & lime chicken with cauli mash & green beans
I'm starving now!! Can't wait for dinner!! I've been eating so much these last couple of weeks, pure pig-out sister, I think my stomach needs to do some major shrinking, I'm not usually this hungry on low-carb!!
I'm not very organised either & don't have any lc snacky things in the house as I didn't get chance to go to Tesco today. Must do better tomorrow!!
Anyway, I'm going to have a snoop in the fridge, just remembered I saw some leftover beef from yesterday, wonder if hubby will miss it?? ...0 -
I have been reading a book called the holford diet by Patrick Holford. he says controlling blood sugar is the only way to lose weight. he advocates small regular meals , with a balance of protein ( meat ,fish and pulses) wholegrains some fat and veg . he says when you eat fruit you should have some protein with it like a small handfull of nuts to help balance the sugar( he recommends that you only eat half a banana because they have lots of sugar in them ). you should keep away from refined carbs. its very interesting and in light of mazzers research I am wondering about doing that. ( he also advocates vit/ mineral and fish oil supplements)
I enjoy lcarbing though so I may stick with it until I definitely make up my mind
mazzers please stay I am just getting to know people
Thanks
Holford diet sounds good.
I had also read about having nuts with fruit to slow absorption, will stay away from bananas, far too starchy, and any processed foods (except maybe prepared chicken breasts and such )
Also read in the Bernstein book to have vinegar or lemon juice on salads to slow down absorption too.one thing I love about SW is you can have homemade chips - as many as you want!!!!!
Only on green days though, which i wont be doing, unless potatoes your healthy option.
If any more peeps do SW, we could pm other with questions rather than post as it is a low carb thread after all
I'm just going to genarally chat and see how folk are doing.
Had a good day today, got some painting done, cleared my kitchen of clutter, and threw out chipped plates and dishes, something i've been wanting to do for ages.
Still beautiful outside, pity i've not been out to enjoy it0 -
Mazzers – I am going to give SW a whirl again but I have just found out my mate has thrown out the book I gave her (the one that tells you how many SYNs are in things)!!!!!!!!
any ideas where I can get another from?? I cant go to the meetings as its the same day as boxercisehave tried ebay but nowt on there at the mo
Charity shops??

Well, if you compare what you do, with us when we cheat.....we're pretty similar really. :rotfl: I'm not sure if us/this thread will be of any benefit to you but you're welcome to hang around and gab just in case.sweetserendipity wrote: »It can be expensive, but could you try 101 ways with eggs & 101 ways with mince?! :rotfl:
I have no imagination when it comes to food....I only 'do' 2 things with eggs and 2 things with mince.
Anyway, I'm back!! :j Thank you alias for reminding me it's Monday, in your usual, subtle (as a brick) way:rotfl:

Lol!!! cheers sweets - never though about charity shop!!
I might even see if there are any of my friends who are doint SW and see if they can pick me a book up on their next meeting0 -
Sorry, forgot to say hello to Buffy
It sounds to me like you are doing a bit low-gi and a bit low-carb. Whatever, it's obviously working, well done on dropping a size!!
Like alias said, you are very welcome to join us.
I am feeling sooooo much better now my belly is full!! :rotfl: Had the leftover beef first of all, there was only a piddling amount, not really sure why hubby had left it?? It was cut into smallish pieces though, so I'm wondering if it was intended for the cat!! :rotfl:
Then my dinner was yummy, added a cheese sauce to smother the veg & it was deeeeelicious!!
Actually just thinking it was far better than any meal I've had over the last 2 weeks of pigging out, so why did I pig out on not very nice high-carb stuff then?? *confused*0 -
Jeeez, anyone ever used clean&clear moisturiser??
Bought it in the pound shop, shop label stated moisturiser but the writing on the item is foreign (Polish i think) and i think its really sulphuric acid!!
My face stings like hell when i use it, wondered if anyone knew if this is normal??
Btw, tea still not nice without sweetener
I am persevering tho :A
Btw again, sistercas, i also take my omega3 fish oils, cod liver oils, multi vit/min etc. etc.0 -

Maz, I got a Clean & Clear kit when they were on a Boots glitch, should have been £12 but they were going through the tills at £2.50. It had a face wash, a moisturiser and a spot cream in it.
The first time I used the face wash, my face stung a bit but nothing too drastic. I used it again the following morning in the shower and my face immediately became sore, red and swollen. It was as if I'd been burnt. The skin round my eyes was puffy and nippy.
It was like that for a week and I was on the verge of going to the Doc when it started settling down again.
I'd got a kit for my son too and he'd had a reaction too but he'd only used it once and then binned it. The pharmacist in Boots told me I must just have sensitive skin. I didn't until I used this stuff but I do now, I now have to be careful what I use.
I have to admit to having a split second 'I'm gonna sue them' thought. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0
