Sorry about the gigantic post,
but for those of us with high BG, i thought it was quite a discovery.
I may remove it later, incase i'm breaking rules by posting it.0 -
No. i wasnt aware of the flaxseed bg link. Thanks for that.
Will have another look for it today.
the dreamfields pasta to go with a bol sauce.
Hmm, the dreamfields pasta was mentioned in an article as well, apparently for a diabetic woman it made her blood sugar levels go up.Mmmmm, wonder if Sarah Beeny cooks? :rotfl:
Hmm, don't think so, she's too busy [STRIKE]getting[/STRIKE] being pregnant!! :rotfl:Have you decided which one of the 9 obstacles is holding you back? Or is it a combination?
All of them
And belated Happy Birthday to you, you kept that one quiet!!
mazzers, I'll read that gigantic post a bit later, my head is a bit fuzzy atm0 -

I was interested as i've had the same problem, very lc but sugars still high, in fact on my last before one BG test at the docs, the one after a lc meal was higher than the high carb one, and i found this confusing at the time.
I think she's onto something!0 -
mazzers that article was really interesting , it scares me because Ive read atkins and I trusted it. and the reason I low carb is to reduce my blood sugar and hopefully prevent diabetes . if this isnt going to work what else is there apart from not eating?
I find it all so complicated
very interesting though - thanks for posting0 -

I know.
Frankly, i dont know where to go from here either.
Have just looked at the dash diet which will supposedly lowers BP and controls diabetes, but that seems to be low gi and no meat, so not considering that.
The lady in the blog has gone to South Beach, albeit her own modified version.
Thats the key i think, our own modified versions, we are individual and all react differently.
Heigh ho, back to the drawing board0 -
I've read some of the South Beach Diet and it allows more carbs but suggests you watch fats esp full fat cheese. Seems to be along the same lines as Atkins. Is backed up by research and is a fairly readable book.0

I read your post mazzers and now very concerned about lc not lowering blood sugar. I too have trusted atkins to lower it. has anyone here noticed if Atkins has lowered their blood sugar? Or do we need to watch the fats more. My cousin who is very slim has high blood sugar and eats high fat food.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

I don't envy you your position mazzers. I 'only' have fat to contend with, it must be hard trying to find a middle ground when you need to take more things into the equation.Herman - MP for all!0

mazzers, I've now read the article & I can understand your concern & confusion. It is just one woman's personal blog of her own experience though.
Like you said, everyone is different.
Wonder why she did zero carbs?? Could that have been her mistake?? Doesn't Atkins allow up to 20 carbs a day?? I don't know the Science behind that figure but it must be set at that figure for a reason??
I don't know, I'm tired because I've just been out for a walk & my brain is confuzzled.
Btw, still couldn't find the flaxseed article I was on about, but I did read that flaxseed is low gi & therefore that helps with keeping blood sugars stable.
Off to do more googling & to eat my Mother's Day chocolates.0
