mazzers, I've now read the article & I can understand your concern & confusion. It is just one woman's personal blog of her own experience though.
Like you said, everyone is different.
Wonder why she did zero carbs?? Could that have been her mistake?? Doesn't Atkins allow up to 20 carbs a day?? I don't know the Science behind that figure but it must be set at that figure for a reason??
I don't know, I'm tired because I've just been out for a walk & my brain is confuzzled.
Btw, still couldn't find the flaxseed article I was on about, but I did read that flaxseed is low gi & therefore that helps with keeping blood sugars stable.
Off to do more googling & to eat my Mother's Day chocolates.

Yes, it is only her experience, and she had a comment asking her to email Dr Eades, to see what he had to say.
She didnt plan zero carbs, just went that way, apparently there is a zero carb forum, i thinks its to stabilise bg.
But if i am lc all day (when im good) and not testing then for 12 hours, how is my bg high??
So it seems (maybe) i'm experiencing what she is.
I mentioned it as some peeps here are doing lc to lower their sugars and maybe it wont. Maybe they need a few more carbs like she did.
Trouble is, as she pointed out, there is so much conflicting evidence everywhere, no wonder we are confused eh?

I hear cooking noises, so maybe dinner is on the way :T

Oh, before i go, i didnt know i had high bg til i had a random test, it doesn't show itself for years, but you can get tested for free at Lloyds chemist.

My skinny sis has recently told me that hers is now high and her feet are really sore and tender all the time ( she has a sitting job so is not on her feet ) but she has a terrible sweet tooth and is concerned now that she could be pre diabetic.

My tender feet do get better when i'm lcing, but i want to get my sugars down to normal too.

Mazzers havent had chance to read the full article yet , but funnily enough I have been out for a 5 course meal today :o and although i was as careful as I could be..ish i still had some bread, tomato soup , a little bit of yorky pud, roasties and mash, and a chocolate mint ( not to mention the mushrooms in cream sauce, turkey, roast veg and cauli cheese , bucks fizz :o I did avoid a pud though :A) and 2 hours later my bs was 5.8 which is normal :T even when I have lcarbed properly and havent eaten for 4 plus hours it doesnt go less than 6.2
I dont get it , but as you say we are all idividual and maybe we can eat a few more carbs ( wholegrains anyway) :j

I'm wearing sunglasses today. It's very exciting.

And feeling fat. Pound on. Own fault. Desperate to get going properly.

Berries and yog for breakfast. chicken and salad for lunch. Meatballs and courgettes for dinner. Lots of water. Running at lunchtime. No booze for two weeks.

Did you hear that? NO BOOZE FOR TWO WEEKS. Going away for easter so plan not to drink until then.
  • Hi every one, been reading the last few days posts...
A few pages back someone mentioned the cravings.....my frind who has done a lot of reaserch re; candia and thrush...says that you get very hungry and have thses massive cravings for sugar because as the yeast dies off ...it creates these cravings because it is trying to survie.......
I have put people of very strick diets to combat candia, you need to avoid all yeast things, that is blue cheese , murshrooms, wine beer, sugar, fruit..bread.
so maybe if your old life was full of these things and sugar..that could be the problem...
Its a real battle I know..we are only human.......
Also speaking of flax seed I was in Asda yesterday....drum roll.
and I saw flax bars they are called 9 Bar, which claim high in fibre and high quality protein, and thats not all,no gluten and wheat free, topped with carob.. and hemp. Oppersite the bread asile.
I dont know that they are low carb as per bar they are 15.3g of which are sugars..12gms but might be handy if you are on the move or out and about.
also found some gluten free small loaf of bread muilt seeded at 14gms carbs a slice..
of which is sugars which is 0.9gms...
I might be totally wrong as my husband has confushed me..(doesnt take much)
net carbs I belive is the figure to take notice of ...am I right in thinking the which is sugars bit is the one we take notice of?
why is the small print on packets so small when you are a certain age its hard to see even with reading glassers on and in a good light...?
Oh yes they also had packets of sugar free sweets......

Craftygal i'm afraid those carob things are a no no, it's only in USA they deduct the fibre giving net carbs, in UK it's done for us.
If something is 12g sugar, its way too high.
Sweet mentioned that the burgen soya/linseed loaves are only 9g (i think) a slice and thats still a bit high for lc.

Someone mentioned that it should be no more than 9g per meal.

How many carbs per day really depends on the individual, once all weight has been lost, carbs are increased gradually to find your optimum amount before weight increases.
