Meanwhile my weight loss is proceeding like an asthmatic snail.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Well I've just had.....a 2 egg omelette with 1 baby tom and some cheese, 2 venison sausages and one small steak.
I figure I'm gonna be hungry today after last night's carb fest so I thought I'd eat a lot to start with in the hope it will help me ward off hunger pangs or cravings.Herman - MP for all!0 -

First two days back are murder for me.
I liked the asthmatic snail too :rotfl:0 -

oops I see you arleady posted.
I've been wondering if there is a difference in carbs when food is cooked, i.e. carrots taste sweeter when they are cooked and parsnips too?
Do you think I dare risk 1/2 grapefruit? (5.4g /100) I got another one in my veg box this week and I hate to waste them.0 -
Just thought I'd pop in and say hi, lots of new faces since I was last here
Been lowcarbing again since Jan 1st and lost about half a stone (haven't got loads to lose, more of a health decision for me), but DD (19) has joined me since beginning of lent (2 weeks ago) and she's lost that already :T.
She's a bit of a convert now after seeing how much weight I lost last year and how much food I ate! It's a bit easier for me know I don't have to make separate meals for everyone (t'other half loves meat & dairy, I just add rice or chips to everything he has LOL!).
I watched the 'Make me Fat' programme on BBC I-player, was both funny and shocking . The amount of sugar in foods really is unbelievable and the sugar industry is so powerful no wonder we're being brainwashed by them. Heard an advert on the radio this morning from some government health group shenanigans, saying "make easy low fat changes to your diet , Put low fat spread on your toast, or skimmed milk instead of semi on your cereal for breakfast'.....still giving out the message that fat is the enemy and every meal should be based on carbs.
To be honest if I think of it in terms of some huge conspiracy by fat cat companies brainwashing us into eating crap carbs to boost their profits, then it's easy to stick low carb for me. Feels like a smack in the face to them...and I love being the rebel!!!! :rotfl:
Anyhoo, yesterdays meal (today v similar)
Breakfast - boiled egg, lump of cheese, tomato and blob of mayo
Lunch - Beef soup
Tea (I'm from oop north) - Gammon, HM coleslaw, stirfry of cougettes & pakchoi with garlic & ginger (yum yum)0 -
Newcook,
It's actually a leek gratin witha sausage alongside, just poor grammar on my part. BUt I see no reason why you couldn't stick cooked sausages in it too! The leek gratin is:
Panfry three or four chopped leeks in butter. Once they have softened, pop them in a pyrex dish and pour over double cream (I add a bit of lactofree milk to thin it out), season and crumble in some blue cheese. Then grate lots of parmesan on top and bake for 30 minutes at about 180C. It's delish adn very rich so one big bake lasts for days.0 -
I tear my hair out about kids' food. I have searched high and low for children's yoghurts without sugar in (not sweeteners either).
I am a big baker, so he often gets cakes and biccies, but I know what has gone into them, and they're fresh. Makes a big difference.
Aspartame, aaaghh! a big no no here, anything with 'no added sugar' tends to affect DD's behaviour
We bake too, we like to know what's in our food!0 -

Do you ever feel that we are the ones who can see that the Emperer isn't wearing any clothes????:eek:
I have really thought about starting a forum at home for people with weight problems to meet, chat , surport and exchange ideas.
As this banter on here is so helpful and surportive:think::think:0 -
